MUMBAI MEETING 2020/21, SEVENTH DAY, FRIDAY, 15TH JANUARY, 2021

(CONDUCTED AT THE PUNE RACE COURSE)

(PENETROMETER: 3.9; GOING: GOOD)

RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED 3 METRES WIDE AT 1400 METRES, 5 METRES AT 1200 METRES, 7 METRES AT 1000 METRES, 8 METRES AT 800 METRES, 9 METRES AT 600 METRES AND THEREAFTER 10 METRES  UP TO THE WINNING POST.  RAILS WERE ALSO PLACED 5 METRES WIDE IN THE CHUTE.

 

On a request from Trainer Deepesh Narredu, permission was granted to Trainer M.Narredu to saddle his charges SALTBAE (1st race) and SACHERTORTE (8th race), at his own (Trainer Deepesh Narredu’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(85) –THE SPRUNGLI PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners -  10   

 

At the start, TOMORROWS DREAMS (A. Sandesh, dr. 6) jumped outwards on to SOPHISTOCRAT (S. Zervan, dr.7), who in turn shifted out and made contact with WAYIN (P. S. Chouhan, dr. 8).  Thereafter WINDY CITY (Raghuveer Singh) shifted in and went across WAYIN, SOPHISTOCRAT and TOMORROWS DREAMS, causing all the three horses to be checked. Jockey Raghuveer Singh has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

 Soon after the start, CIPHER (Neeraj Rawal) shifted in thereby tightening the field on his inside, due to which RECALL OF YOU (P.Trevor) was tightened for room and had to be checked. Also, SALTBAE (S.A.Amit) had to be steadied. After questioning, Jockey Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been fined Rs.3,000/- .

 

After the race, Jockey P. S. Chouhan (WAYIN) reported that passing the 300 metres, the whip of Jockey Bhawani Singh (BLAZING BAY) came in contact with his whip, due to which he lost his whip. Further, he also reported that his mount hung-in in the straight despite his efforts. Trainer Rehanullah Khan has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Passing the 250 metres, SALTBAE (S.A.Amit) who was racing on the haunches of BLAZING BAY (Bhawani Singh) and RECALL OF YOU (P.Trevor), was held up for room and had to be steadied.

 

Passing the 150 metres, WINDY CITY (Raghuveer Singh) shifted in thereby tightening WAYIN (P.S.Chouhan) who had to be steadied. Jockey Raghuveer Singh has been cautioned.

 

RACE NO.2(86) –THE SIMPLY NOBLE PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners -  8     

 

Soon after the start, SKY FALL (P. Trevor) shifted in and went across EPIPHANY (App.Aniket Karande) and PRINCESS ANNABEL (Bhawani Singh) causing both the horses to be steadied. Jockey P.Trevor has been cautioned.

 

Passing the 300 metres, EPIPHANY (App.Aniket Karande) shifted out and went across RISING BRAVE (K.Nazil), causing the latter to be checked and change course. App.Aniket Karande has been cautioned.

 

After the race, JOAQUIN was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind fetlock.

 

 RACE NO.3(87) –THE MAHARAJA SIR PRATAPSINGH GAEKWAD TROPHY:(About) 1400 Metres –Runners- 7    

REVELATOR (N. S. Parmar) was restless in the stall, not allowing the rider to settle. Trainer S. K. Sunderji has been asked to give the horse more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

ODESSA (S. A. Amit) was reluctant to reach the starting point, thereby delaying the start. Thereafter, as the start was given, ODESSA planted in its stall and had to be eased out the Starting Gate. As such, Trainer M. Narredu has been asked to school his charge to proceed to the start. Further, he has asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, App. P. S. Kaviraj (MAJESTIC WARRIOR)  reported that passing the 300 metres, in an effort to change his whip from the back hand position to the fore hand position, his whip had slipped out of his hand. This being his second instance of whip loss during the current Mumbai Meeting, he has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

RACE NO.4(88) –THE JAYANT M.SHAH PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1400 Metres – Runners -  14     

 

SADDLE THE WIND was brought into  the paddock without the Blinkers, a declared equipment on the mare. The same was applied before the mare left the paddock.  Trainer Karthik Ganapathy has been fined Rs.1,000/- for his lapse.

 

SAFFRON FLOWER (Shailesh Shinde) jumped out awkwardly throwing its head up due to which the Jockey lost his right stirrup which he regained soon. Tr.Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the mare.  

 

Approaching the 700 metres, TAKE IT EASY (K.Nazil) shifted out thereby inconveniencing WHISPERING QUEEN (Vishal N.Bunde). Jockey K.Nazil has been cautioned.

 

Passing the 300 metres, HONOURABLE EYES (Raghuveer Singh) shifted out under urgings thereby tightening and taking the ground of GANDALF (Neeraj Rawal) who had to be checked. Jockey Raghuveer Singh has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

Approaching the 200 metres, WORLD IS ONE (P.Trevor) shifted in thereby bumping CHEZZA (Amyn Merchant), who in turn shifted in and bumped RED FIRE (S. A. Amit) thereby unbalancing its rider. Jockey P. Trevor has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

Passing the 200 metres, TAKE IT EASY (K. Nazil) shifted in and went across HONOURABLE EYES (Raghuveer Singh) causing it to be checked and change course.  After the race, Jockey K.Nazil stated that his mount hung in despite his efforts. Tr.Hosidar Daji has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the mare.

 

The Sr. V.O. reported that KANADARIO was declared to run with bandages on both fore legs but ran without the  bandages. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been fined Rs.1,000/- for his lapse.

 

After the race, SO SPLENDID was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, GANDALF was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind bulb of heel. KANADARIO was found to be sound in the trot.

 

RACE NO.5(89) –THE V.R.MENON PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners -  10     

 

The Sr. V.O. reported that BEEJAY had been treated with shockwave therapy within the last 10 days, as such the gelding was not permitted to run.  Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been fined Rs.10,000/- for contravention of the Notice dated 15th November, 2005 regarding treatment of horses with Corporeal Shock Wave Therapy (or) Radial Pulse.

 

MARLBORO MAN was brought  into  the paddock without  a Cross Nose Band, a declared equipment on the colt. The same was applied before the colt left the paddock.  Trainer Subhag Singh has been fined Rs.1,000/- for his lapse.

 

SPANISH CITY (P. S. Chouhan) reared up in the stall and sat on its haunches. In view of the above, the gelding was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order. Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

FARAHNAAZ (J. Chinoy) jumped out slow losing considerable ground at the start. Trainer Asad Siddiqui has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

In the final stages of the race, MARVIN (A.Sandesh) leaned inwards and made contact with RAYS OF SUN (N.S.Parmar). Jockey A.Sandesh has been cautioned.

 

After the race, SMOKIN’ HOT was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6(90) –THE KARL UMRIGAR TROPHY : (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 6    

 

SPINOZA (P. S. Chouhan) played up in the stall and cast its fore leg in the adjoining stall. The colt was taken out and in the process of being examined by the Sr. V.O. he bolted and ran around the course. As such, SPINOZA was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order. Also, after being stalled, ABOVE THE LAW (R. Ajinkya) kept kicking the rear gate, as such, the colt was taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. who certified him fit to race.

 

In view of SPINOZA having bolted, all the other horses were taken out and subsequently re-stalled. However, ARC DE TRIOMPHE (S. Zervan) refused to be stalled despite substantial efforts, as such, the colt was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order.

 

Trainers P.Shroff, S.K.Sunderji and Adhirajsingh Jodha have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Approaching the 1000 metres, ROMAN (P. Trevor) veered outwards and went across ALASKAN SKY (Neeraj Rawal) who had to be steadied. Thereafter, ROMAN continued to veer out despite the rider’s efforts and raced on the extreme outside. After the race, Jockey P.Trevor reported that in his effort to straighten his mount, his bridle had displaced, as such he was unable to exercise complete control and did not ride out. Trainer M. Narredu has been asked to take remedial measures and show the colt to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, ALASKAN SKY was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7(91) –THE SPRUNGLI PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners -  11     

 

Soon after the start, BELENUS (App.Gagandeep Mann) shifted in under urgings and cut across the field due to which MOUNT OLYMPUS (App.P.S.Kaviraj) and PLEIADES (M.Ayyar) had to be checked. App. Gagandeep Mann has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

Approaching the 900 metres, due to a tightly packed field, RON (App.M.S.Deora) shifted in thereby tightening SPEED AIR (Vishal N.Bunde), who in turn shifted in and brushed the quarters of ROYALTY (P. S. Chouhan). 

 

Approaching the 800 metres, ROYALTY (P.S.Chouhan) shifted out thereby tightening and inconveniencing RON (App.M.S.Deora) causing the latter to be checked and drop back. On being questioned after the race, Jockey P. S. Chouhan stated that his mount was very keen and in order to avoid clipping the front runner, he had shifted out. The explanation was noted.

 

Passing the 600 metres, RON (App.M.S.Deora) shifted in thereby tightening SPEED AIR (Vishal N.Bunde) along the rails, who had to be checked. App.M.S.Deora has been severely reprimanded.

 

Approaching the 500 metres, POWERFUL LADY (A.Sandesh) shifted in on to ROYALTY (P.C.Chouhan), who in turn shifted in thereby tightening PLEIADES (M.Ayyar) causing the latter to be checked and drop back , due to which RON who racing on its haunches, was also checked.  After questioning, Jockey  A. Sandesh has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

The Sr. V.O. reported that PERCIVALE was declared to run without bandages but ran with bandages on both fore legs. Trainer Altamaash A.Ahmed has been fined Rs.1,000/- for his lapse.

 

After the race, MOUNT OLYMPUS was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, PLEIADES, PULVERIZE and PERCIVALE were trotted and found to be sound. PLEIADES had an abrasion on the left  hind cannon.

 

RACE NO.8(92) –THE JAYANT M.SHAH PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1400 Metres – Runners -  14     

 

Soon after the start PERIWINKLE (K.Nazil) shifted in and went across MIKAYLA’S PRIDE (J.Chinoy) who had to be steadied. Jockey K.Nazil has been cautioned.

 

Soon after the start, CAESAR (App.M.S.Deora) shifted in thereby tightening PERIWINKLE (K.Nazil), HOLLYWOOD PARK (N.B.Kuldeep) and CROSSWINDS (D.R.Shubham), causing them to be checked, due to which ETERNAL DANCER (N.S.Parmar) who was racing directly behind them, was also checked. App.M.S.Deora has been fined Rs.3,000/-. 

 

Passing the 500 metres, PERIWINKLE (K.Nazil) shifted out and went across ROMANESQUE (Dashrath Singh) causing the latter to be checked. Jockey K.Nazil has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

In the final stages of the race, MIKAYLA’S PRIDE (J.Chinoy) shifted out despite the rider’s effort and carried SACHERTORTE (Vishal N.Bunde) outwards. Trainer Asad Siddiqui has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the mare.

 

Jockey K.Nazil (PERIWINKLE) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his second offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2020/21, he has been fined Rs.5,000/-.

 

After the race, ARABIAN STORM and ELLYSIA were trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 4th and 5th race, viz. SHAPATH and RAYS OF SUN, were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
