RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS WERE PLACED AT ITS ORIGINAL POSITION FROM 2000 METRES UP TO 200 METRES AND THEREAFTER 2 METRES WIDE UP TO THE WINNING POST.  RAILS WERE ALSO PLACED 5 METRES WIDE IN THE CHUTE.

RACE NO.1(77) –THE GULAMHUSEIN ESSAJI TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners -  8   

 

Whilst loading was underway, MINX (Neeraj Rawal) was observed to have lost its left fore shoe. As such, the filly was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order.

 

Approaching 1400 metres, MAPLEWOOD (T. S. Jodha) shifted in and brushed the haunches of MULTISTARRER (A. Sandesh) who had to be steadied.

 

After the race, MAPLEWOOD was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(78) –THE M.D.MEHTA TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners -  7     

 

SHE IS ON FIRE (Santosh G.) planted in its stall thus losing considerable ground at the start. Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials before next accepting to race.

 

Passing 500 metres, BLUE BLOOD (Nirmal Jodha) leaned in onto EVANGELINE (S. Zervan) racing along the rails causing it to be checked. After the race, Jockey S. Zervan (EVANGELINE) reported that approaching the 400 metres, he was held up for a clear run along the rails and was forced to check and change course. 

 

After the race, WILLIAM WALLACE was observed to have a cut injury at the left hind coronet.

 

 RACE NO.3(79) –THE MATHRADAS GOCULDAS TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners -  6    

 

LORRAINE (P. S. Chouhan) jumped out slow losing about a length at the start.

 

After the race, EXCELLENT GOLD and LADY OF LUXURY were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4(80) –THE MACHIAVELLIANISM PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners -  11     

 

ON VA DANSER (App. Aniket Karande) jumped out slow losing about 3 lengths at the start. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning Starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Soon after the start, GOLD MEMBER (Dashrath Singh) shifted in and went across the horses drawn on his inside, due to which PRINCIPESSA (App. P. S. Kaviraj) had to be steadied. After questioning, Jockey Dashrath Singh has been severely reprimanded.

 

After the race, WAR OF ATTRITION was observed to have a cut injury at the left fore cannon. ON VA DANSER was found to be sound in the trot.

 

RACE NO.5(81) –THE N.M. IRANI TROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners -  12     

 

GIVERNY (T. S. Jodha) was reluctant to be stalled and after being loaded was restless in its stall not allowing its rider to settle thereby delaying the start. In view of the above Trainer Subhag Singh has been asked to show the filly to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning Starting Trials before next accepting to race.

 

Soon after the start, THE MENTALIST (A. Sandesh) shied inwards on to HEIDMAR (Dashrath Singh), who in turn shifted in thereby bumping and tightening AGOSTINO CARRACCI (S. Zervan) along the rails causing the latter to be checked.

 

After the race, THE MENTALIST was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6(82) –THE INDIAN 2000 GUINEAS (GR.1) : (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 8   

 

LAGARDE (Suraj Narredu) was reluctant to be stalled. As such, Trainer S. S. Attaollahi has been asked to give the colt more gate practice before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, TIGRIO (Y. S. Srinath, dr. 1) jumped inwards and had to be steadied.

 

RACE NO.7(83) –THE VENUS ARISING PLATE : (About) 1800 Metres – Runners -  6     

 

After the race, FANFARE was observed to have a gum injury.

 

RACE NO.8(84) –THE MACHIAVELLIANISM PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners -  9     

 

FLOWER POWER (App. P. S. Kaviraj) was reluctant to be stalled and when being tried, reared up and fell backwards with its rider. The filly was examined by the Club’s Sr. V. O. who certified her fit to race. However, after being stalled she was restless and did not allow her rider to settle. At the same time, HIGHLAND WOODS (App. M. Ayyar) rushed the front gate due to which the gates gave way and the gelding jumped out of the stall. However, the Jockey had managed to pull up his mount soon after and the gelding was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O who certified it fit to race.

 

Since the gates were to be tested, all the horses which were stalled were unloaded and in the process of unloading SUAREZ (S. P. Ranjane) reared up and fell backward injuring its rider who was indisposed as such the gelding was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order.

 

After unloading the horses, FLOWER POWER (App. P. S. Kaviraj) was observed to have sustained a cut injury on the left fore elbow and as such the filly was withdrawn on veterinary grounds.

 

MULTIBAGGER (Neeraj Rawal) planted in the stall taking no practical part in the race.

 

In view of the above, it is recommended FLOWER POWER, HIGHLAND WOODS & MULTIBAGGER be given more gate practice and to be shown to the satisfaction of the Starter before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, TALEEM (S. A. Amit, dr.9) jumped outwards due to which TITANIUM (S. J. Sunil dr.10) and JAIPAR HONEY (Raghuveer Singh, dr.11) were inconvenienced. On being questioned after the race, Jockey S. A. Amit stated that the filly had jumped out awkwardly. The explanation was noted.

 

After the race, TALEEM was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind coronet and HIGHLAND WOODS had a gum injury. FLOWER POWER was found to be sound in the trot.

 

RACE NO.9(73) –THE HOMI MODY TROPHY: (About) 2000 Metres – Runners -  6  (shifted from 08/01/2021)  

 

WIZARD OF STOCKS (Neeraj Rawal) jumped out slow losing about 4 lengths at the start. Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials before next accepting to race.

The urine samples of the winner of the 2nd and 4th race, viz. WINTER & GOLD MEMBER, and the urine and blood sample of LAGARDE, GOLDEN OAKS and STORM TRIGGER (Winner, Second Placed & Third Placed – 6th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

ADDITIONAL REPORTS:

 

RE : STABLING MORE THAN 80 HORSES IN THE CLUB’S PREMISES – TRAINER P. SHROFF:

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Monday, 26th October, 2020 considered letter dated 29th September, 2020 from Tr. P. Shroff in reply to the Show Cause letter dated 15th September, 2020 issued to him as also his previous correspondence in reference to the captioned subject.

 

The Stewards having deliberated the matter, directed the Stipendiary Stewards to take such action against Tr. P. Shroff as they deem fit.

 

In view of the above, the Stipendiary Stewards had fined Trainer P. Shroff a sum of  Rs.25,000/-  i.e. Rs.5,000/- each for the 5 extra horses over and above the limit of 80 horses, that he had stabled on the premises of the racecourse.

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 9th January, 2021 considered appeal from Trainer P. Shroff in the above connection and having considered all papers and proceedings before them including Trainer P. Shroff’s grounds of appeal and having heard him as also the Stipendiary Stewards and having deliberated the matter, the Stewards were not entirely satisfied with the explanation tendered by him. However, keeping in mind the prevailing unusual circumstances due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Stewards of the Club decided to allow the appeal and to rescind the fine of Rs.25,000/- imposed on him by the Stipendiary Stewards. He was warned to be more careful in the future.

SUBJECT: ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “AGRAMI” IN RACE NO.32 – THE MAPLE STAR PLATE  - RUN ON 13th DECEMBER, 2020:

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 9th January, 2021 considered Note dated 16th December, 2020 from the Stipendiary Stewards. They interviewed App. A. S. Peter and Trainer Faisal A. Abbas also Trainer Nirad Karajanwala who had saddled the horse for the race in question and also viewed App. A. S. Peter’s winning mount on WHISPERING QUEEN in Race No.1 run during the current Mumbai Meeting, the Stewards of the Club were not entirely satisfied with the explanation tendered by him. However, considering his clean record, the Stewards decided to give him the benefit of the doubt in this case and severely cautioned him for the future. He was directed to practice more on the Horse Stimulator and improve his riding skills.
