On a request from Trainer Shyam S.Habbu, permission was granted to Trainer P Shroff to saddle his charge LASERRE in the 8th race, at his (Trainer Shaym S.Habbu’s) risk and responsibility.

On a request from Trainer Dallas Todywalla, permission was granted to Trainer Nirad Karanjawala to saddle his charges LIVING THE DREAM and LAKE BEAUTY in the 2nd and 5th race respectively, at his (Trainer Dallas Todywalla’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1 (51) - THE VENUS DE MILO TROPHY :   (About) 1600 Metres, Runners – 5

 

Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been fined Rs.1000/- for failing to produce the registered colours in respect of his charge ARDENT LOVER. The Jockey wore the Emergency Colours i.e. All Black.

NUMISMATIST (T.S.Jodha) jumped out awkwardly.

Trainer Nirad Karanjawala and Jockey Shrikant Kamble were questioned regarding the running and riding of REINSTATE. The Jockey was instructed to go to the front or sit in 2nd position and to do his best. The Jockey was observed not to have made his move when he had the chance and take the lead near 1000 metres but had ridden in check. The Jockey stated that since his instructions were also that he may sit in 2nd position, he had ridden in check. The Stipendiary Stewards were not entirely satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey Shrikant Kamble, however, considering that the horse had jumped out awkwardly and was slow to begin and that the filly was well beaten, he has only been cautioned. 

After the race, REINSTATE & FEMENIST were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2 (52) – THE CAPTAIN G HALL  TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres, Runners – 7

 

Jockey T.S.Jodha (AGHA) has been fined Rs.1000/- for shifting in before the Red Marker

The explanation of App. M.A.Roushan (DREAM TALK) that his instructions were to go to the front but his mount did not show early speed and therefore he could not follow the instructions, was noted.

While negotiating the bend, MISSCHEVIOUS TROT (App.P.Trevor) was forced to travel wide due to DREAM TALK (App.M.A.Roushan). App.M.A.Roushan has been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

Jockey Dashrath Singh (LIVING  THE DREAM) has been reprimanded for improper use of the whip wherein he used the whip with his right hand when his mount was drifting out and aggravated the outward movement of his mount and lost ground.

Jockey Neeraj Rawal (GOT TO GO) reported that his mount lugged out in the final stages of the race. Trainer Nosher Cama has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the mare.  

App.A.Sandesh (SABA) reported that his mount was inclined to lug out in the final stages of the race. Tr.Rehanullah Khan has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the mare.

After the race, GOT TO GO was observed to have a cut injury at the left hind fetlock.

 

RACE NO.3 (53)  – THE M.N.NAZIR TROPHY :  (About) 1600 Metres - Runners - 8

 

Jockey H.G.Rathod (PRINCE LOCHINVA) and App.A.Sandesh (AMORE MIO) have been fined Rs.1000/- each for shifting in before the Red Marker.

The explanation of Jockey Vikram Jodha (BLESSINGS) that his instructions were to be in 4th or 5th position, however, his mount raced keenly and he rode the filly in check, was noted. 

After the race, ENDEARMENT was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, PRINCE LOCHINVA was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4 (54)  – THE JACQUELINE TROPHY :   (About) 1000 Metres, Runners - 6

 

A Stewards” Enquiry was held in this race. The reason being that, near 300 metres, ARES (Shrikant Kamble, Placed 3rd) shifted in and carried EL TROPICO (App.D.Akkshay) inwards and then went across the latter and travelling a few strides, further, shifted in and jostled with ATTILA who was unbalanced and could have caused an accident. The Stewards interviewed the Jockeys concerned and in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and the Racing Advisor and relying on their observation of the incident, decided to disqualify ARES (placed 3rd) and to revise the Order of Placing as under:

In the above connection, Jockey Shrikant  Kamble was asked to meet the Stewards for dangerous riding. The matter was deferred to next week.

 

After the race, ATTILA was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, ARES was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5 (55) – THE FAIZ JASDANWALLA TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres, Runners- 12

 

WORD OF HONOUR (Suraj Narredu, dr.12) hung in badly soon after the start and went across the entire field. Trainer C.D.Katrak has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.  

Jockey A.M.Tograllu (MARAUDER) has been cautioned for allowing his mount to shift out in the straight.

LAKE BEAUTY (C.Rajendra) hung out in the straight. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.  

The Sr.V.O. reported that MAGICAL TREASURE stopped galloping after the race. On examination, the filly was found to be sore from the right hind leg. The filly was administered first aid treatment and sent to the Equine Hospital in the Horse Ambulance for further action. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

RACE NO.6 (56)  – THE UTTAM SINGH TROPHY (DIV.I):  (About) 1200 Metres, Runners - 14

 

At the start, DANCING GLANCES (App.A.Sandesh, dr.9) jumped out awkwardly towards the outside. ABSOLUTE REALITY (N.S.Parmar, dr.11) jumped out awkwardly and shifted in and made contact with DANCING GLANCES who itself had shifted ground outwards. UPROAR (R.Shelar) jumped out awkwardly and was slow to begin

 

Jockey Malcolm Kharadi (SAMIEL) has been fined Rs.1000/- for shifting in before the Red Marker and in the process hampered the running of RIVER DRAGON (I.Pasha).

 

OCEANIC WISDOM (C.Alford) kept an erratic course in the straight and passing 200 metres, caused SAMIEL (Malcolm Kharadi) to travel wide.

 

FOXTROT (F.Irani) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer Mansoor Shah has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, SAMIEL was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, STARLIGHT MAGIC was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, OCEANIC WISDOM, FOXTROT & CONZTANZA were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7 (57) – THE  JASPAL ENTERPRISES SPRINT MILLION: (About) 1200 Metres-  Runners - 5

 

An Objection was lodged by Jockey Dashrath Singh, the rider of WEIZHOU ( Placed 4th by the Judge) against App.A.Sandesh, the rider of D’ARTAGNAN (placed 3rd) for taking him wide in the final 200 metres which cost him the 3rd Place. The Stewards interviewed the Jockeys concerned and having heard them in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and the Racing Advisor and relying on their own observation of the incident, decided to uphold the Objection and to revise the Order of Placing as under:

The Stewards after the last race interviewed App A.Sandesh, who was accompanied by his Master, Tr.Rehanullah Khan, for Careless Riding. The Stewards having heard the submissions made and viewing the video recording of the race, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by App.A.Sandesh and decided to suspend his Apprentice Jockey’s License w.e.f 30th December 2010 to 6th January 2011 (both days inclusive) for careless riding. (Permitted to ride work/ Mock race).

 

RACE NO.8 (58) – THE MAHARASHTRA AND GUJARAT AREA TROPHY:   (About) 2000 Metres,

    - Runners - 6

Jockey Neeraj Rawal (MIA STELLA) has been cautioned for shifting ground under the use of the whip, approaching 200 metres. 

Jockey Neeraj Rawal (MIA STELLA) reported loss of his whip near 200 metres.

Jockey C.D.Hayes (CONSTANTINA) reported that his mount was running erratic..

After the race, CONSTANTINA and HEIRESS were found to be sound.

RACE NO.9 (59) - THE GIANTTI BY GITANJALI LIFESTYLE INDIAN 1000 GUINEAS (GRADE- I)

                                                                                                     (About) 1600 Metres,  Runners - 10

Near 300 metres, ILLUSTRIOUS (N.G.McCullagh) lugged in and inconvenienced SUN ELEGANCE (Amyn Merchant). Since ILLUSTRIOUS was reported having broken a blood vessel no action has been initiated.

After the race, ILLUSTRIOUS and SERENITY were observed to have broken a blood vessel and are not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. Both the horses have to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, SIACHEN was observed to have an abrasion at the left hind fetlock.

 

SCARLETTE (C.Alford) was placed fifth and ROYAL HIGHNESS (Dashrath Singh) was placed sixth by the Judge, in this race.

 

RACE NO.10 (60) – THE UTTAM SINGH TROPHY (DIV.II) : (About) 1200 Metres-  Runners - 13

 

At the start, LOVING DEVOTEE (C.S.Jodha) MADAM KILLEEN (R.Shelar) and RED TABASCO (Shrikant Kamble) jumped out awkwardly.

Jockey D.K.Ashish (EXCELLTASTIC) has been cautioned for allowing his mount to shift in near 2000 metres.

After the race, MADAM KILLEEN was found to be sound, having a gum injury. EXCELLTASTIC was found to be sound.

The urine sample of winner of 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th race viz. AMADEUS, VIOLETTA, MIA STELLA, SIACHEN & SET AFIRE as also that of FOREST FLAIR & WEIZHOU (7th race) and MOONLIGHT ROMANCE, ELOISE & BLACKJACK (9th race), and the special sample of ATTILA (4th race), SAMIEL (6th race), HEIRESS (8th race) and ILLUSTRIOUS & SERENITY (9th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : SHOW CAUSE NOTICE ISSUED TO TRAINER NIRAD KARANJAWALA IN RESPECT OF THE SALE OF b c (2005)  BY LIBOR – DIAMOND DREAMS (MOUNTAIN KING) :

The Stewards at their meeting held on 12th December, 2010 interviewed Trainer Nirad Karanjawala in the above connection. The Stewards considered all the submissions made by Trainer Nirad Karanjawala. They considered all papers and documents and having heard all the submissions  made by Tr.Nirad Karanjawala, including his letter dated 8th October, 2010 in reply to the charges leveled against him in the Show Cause Notice dated 17th September, 2010 issued to you by the Club,  and having deliberated the matter at length, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him in the subject case and held him guilty of Gross Misconduct and also tendering false and misleading evidence in the enquiry. The Stewards noted that his acts of misconduct had cost two Staff Members of the Club, their  job.

 

Therefore, the Stewards decided :-

 

i)          to suspend Tr.Nirad Karanjawala’s current Trainer’s license w.e.f. 27th December, 2010 till the end of the Mumbai Meeting 2010/11. Thereafter, should he apply for a Trainer’s license under the Rules of this Club, for the Season 2011/12, the same shall not be granted to him up to and inclusive of 27th December, 2011;

 

ii)          to impose on him a suspended sentence of two years over the next five years i.e. if he was found guilty of any act of misconduct or found guilty of committing irregularities and breaches of the Club’s Rules and Procedures or flouting the Rules of Racing / notifications etc. of the Club, within the next five years commencing from 28th December, 2011, then the aforesaid suspended sentence of punishment of two years would immediately come into force and effect and which aforesaid punishment would be in addition to any other punishment which the Stewards may impose on him for any subsequent act of his as regards the aforesaid.

 

iii)         as voluntarily agreed by him, that he will have to clear the debits of Rs.1,12,000/- in the account of Mr.Parvez Dulha Khan, which is the amount the Club has suffered monetary loss due to his acts of misfeasance.
