RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS WERE PLACED 2 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 3 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 5 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 7 METRES AWAY FROM 800 METRES TO 500 METRES AND THEREAFTER 5 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST.

 

FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 3 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 5 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

 

RACE NO.1 (165) – THE WESTERN INDIA RACE HORSE OWNERS' ASSOCIATION TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS -  5

 

On arrival at the start, it was observed that the right fore shoe of PHENOM (N. S. Parmar) was splayed. As per the norms, the gelding was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order.

 

At the start, MAJESTIC WARRIOR (App. S. Saba, dr.) stumbled.

 

After the race, Jockey M. S. Deora (WINTER AGENDA) reported that approaching the 400 metres, his reins slipped momentarily.

 

After the race, JULIUS was trotted at the stables and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2 (166) –  THE TRAINERS TROPHY: (ABOUT) 2000 METRES – RUNNERS - 8

 

At the start, ANGELO (Vivek G, dr.8) jumped, whipped around and thereafter refused to raise a gallop. Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding in a mock race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, Jockey Akshay Kumar (DREAM ALLIANCE) reported that passing the 400 metres, he was momentarily held up for room.

 

After the race, DREAM ALLIANCE was observed to have broken a blood vessel (2nd time) and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of eight weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, REGAL COMMAND was trotted at the stables and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3 (167) – THE DADY ADENWALLA TROPHY  - DIVISION II: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS -  10

 

COLONEL SAAB (Shrikant Kamble, dr.1) reared up after being stalled and flipped over thereby dislodging the rider, as such, the gelding was taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. who certified the geldfing fit to race. Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at the morning trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, OCEAN (H.M.Akshay, dr.8) jumped outwards and went across ZENDAYA (App. Haridas Gore, dr.9) causing the latter to be steadied.

 

After the race, Jockey H. M. Akshay (OCEAN) reported that his mount was running erratic in the straight.

 

After the race, App. Haridas Gore (ZENDAYA) reported that his mount was running green throughout the race.

 

After the race, Jockey Akshay Kumar (KNIGHT CRUSADER) reported that his mount was inclined inwards in the straight despite his efforts and that he found the gelding’s hind action a bit awkward. Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, COLONEL SAAB, KNIGHT CRUSADER, WE STILL BELIEVE & ZENDAYA were trotted and found to be sound. INTERCEPTOR was found to have an injury on right hind pastern.

 

RACE NO.4 (168) – THE JOCKEYS TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES –RUNNERS- 8

 

At the start, LITTLE MINISTER (Amyn Merchant, dr.7) jumped inwards and made contact with GOOD DEEDS (Akshay Kumar, dr.6).

 

At the start, RICOCHET (C.S.jodha, dr.3) jumped out and threw its head up.

 

Passing the 1400 metres, LITTLE MINISTER (Amyn Merchant) leaned inwards thereby tightening and inconveniencing GOOD DEEDS (Akshay Kumar) who had to be checked.

 

Approaching the 1200 metres, in his effort to control his mount, Jockey P. Trevor (MARIANA) shifted out thereby carrying CHIEFTAIN (Vishal N. Bunde) outwards.

 

Jockey K. Nazil (STUNNING VISUAL) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his 2nd offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2023/24, he has been fined Rs.5,000/-.

 

After the race, GOOD DEEDS was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by left fore, as such, the filly has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, CHIEFTAIN, STUNNING VISUAL & YULETIDE were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5 (169) – THE RACING OFFICIALS TROPHY  - DIVISION I: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 11

 

Soon after the start, INTO THE STORM (Santosh G.) shifted in under urgings onto MAZAL (P.Trevor) thereby starting a chain reaction due to which MOMENT OF MADNESS (App. N. Bhosale), DAULAT MAI (K.Nazil), MOUNT SINAI (T.S.Jodha), ATTAINED (Imran Chisty) and MIGHTY THUNDER (J.Chinoy) were either tightened, inconvenienced or had to be checked. After questioning and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered, Jockey Santosh G. has been suspended for two race days i.e. on the first two race days of the Pune Meeting 2024, dates of which will be intimated in due course, (permitted to ride work / mock race) for careless riding.

 

After the race, INTO THE STORM & MAZAL were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6 (170) – THE DADY ADENWALLA TROPHY  - DIVISION I: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 9

 

At the request of Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait, INQUILAB was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. at 05:30 a.m. on 29th March 2024, at the stables and was observed to have fever, as such, the colt was certified unfit to race and was permitted to be withdrawn on Veterinary grounds and has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

CINDERELLA’S DREAM (K. Nazil, dr.6) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Faisal A. Abbas has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the filly to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, ABHIDHYAN (Santosh G., dr.8) jumped outwards and had to be steadied.

 

After the race, CINDERELLA’S DREAM was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7 (171) – THE RACING JOURNALISTS TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS - 9

 

At the request of Trainer Karthik Ganapathy, RUBIK STAR was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. at 06:00 p.m. on 30th March 2024, at the stables and was observed to be sore by left fore, as such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was permitted to be withdrawn on Veterinary grounds and has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

On arrival at the starting gates, at the request of Jockey J. Chinoy, GOOMAH was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O., who certified her fit to race.

 

At the start, RHYTHM OF NATURE (M.S.Deora, dr.6) jumped outwards at the same time SPIRITUAL ROCK (Vishal N.Bunde, dr.8) leaned inwards due to which YARMOUTH (Amyn Merchant, dr.7) drawn between them was tightened and had to steadied.

 

The Stipendiary Stewards are looking into the riding of GOOMAH (J.Chinoy) and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, GOOMAH, TYRONE BLACK & RHYTHM OF NATURE were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8 (172) – THE RACING OFFICIALS TROPHY  - DIVISION II: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 11

 

At the start, MALAKHI (Kiran Naidu, dr.7) jumped inwards onto CORNERSTONE (T.S.Jodha, dr.6) and they made contact.

 

Jockey H. M. Akshay (MADRAS CHEQUE) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. After questioning, Jockey H. M. Akshay stated that his mount was hanging out despite his efforts and that he used the whip as a corrective measure, as such, Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, INDIA STRONG was observed to have lost its right hind shoe.

 

RACE NO.9 (173) –  THE BEAUTIFUL STRANGER PLATE: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 10

 

At the request of Trainer Ivor Fernandes, BETTER HALF was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. at 09:40 a.m. on 29th March 2024, at the stables and was found to have swelling on right fore, as such, the mare was certified unfit to race and was permitted to be withdrawn on Veterinary grounds and has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

There was a dual declaration in respect of Jockey P. Shinde by Trainer S. K. Sunderji on LADY DI and by Trainer Nazzak B. Chenoy on PRECIOSO.  After questioning all concerned, Trainer S. K. Sunderji was permitted to declare Jockey P. Shinde on his charge LADY DI and Trainer Nazzak B. Chenoy was permitted to declare Jockey Vishal N. Bunde on her charge PRECIOSO.  In this connection, Trainer Nazzak B. Chenoy has been fined Rs.1,000/- for declaring Jockey P. Shinde without his consent.

 

Soon after the start, SKY HAWK (S.Saqlain) shifted in under urgings thereby bumping TANHAIYAAN (Amyn Merchant), thereafter, SKY HAWK further shifted in thereby tightening and inconveniencing ANOUSHKA (K.Nazil) who had to be checked. After questioning and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered, Jockey S.Saqlain has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

After the race, NOBILITY was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by right fore, as such, the mare has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

The urine samples of the winner of the 4th & 7th race, viz. RICOCHET & RHYTHM OF NATURE, and the special sample of KNIGHT CRUSADER (3rd race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

 

The urine and blood samples of the winner of the 2nd & 6th race, viz. GIANT KING & DULARI, were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

 

The blood sample of the winner of the 3rd race, viz. HOUSE OF LORDS, was collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE: RACE NO.6 (163) –  THE RACE OF HOPE GOLD CUP: RUN ON 24TH MARCH 2024:

 

Jockey S. Sunil (NAIROBI) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2023/24, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

RE: JOCKEY C.UMESH REPORTED TO THE STEWARDS FOR INCOMPETENT RIDING  ON HIS MOUNT “EL GRECO” (DRAWN 2) IN RACE NO.146 - THE INDIARACE.COM TROPHY (DIST. 1600 MTRS.) RUN ON THURSDAY, 14THMARCH 2024:

 

In connection with the captioned subject, the Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 24th March 2024, having heard the submissions made by Jockey C. Umesh, Trainer P. Shroff, as also the Stipendiary Stewards, having viewed the video recording of the race in question and previous runs of the gelding and having deliberated in the matter at length, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey C. Umesh.

 

In that, Jockey C.Umesh failed to preserve with his mount, thereby placing the gelding at a disadvantage, thus, impacting the final outcome of the race. Therefore, it was decided to suspend his Jockey’s licence for 2 race days i.e. on first two race days of the Pune Meeting 2024, dates of which will be intimated in due course, (permitted to ride work/mock race) for riding an incompetent race.

RE: JOCKEY R. AJINKYA REPORTED TO THE STEWARDS FOR CARELESS RIDING ON HIS MOUNT “OUTLANDER” (DRAWN 6) IN RACE NO.148 - THE HINDU TROPHY - RUN ON 14TH MARCH 2024 – OBJECTION RACE:

 

In connection with the captioned subject, the Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 31st March 2024, having heard the submissions made by Jockey R. Ajinkya, as also the Stipendiary Stewards, having viewed the video recording of the race in question and having deliberated in the matter at length, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey R. Ajinkya.

 

In that, passing the 1000 metres, Jockey R. Ajinkya shifted in on his mount OUTLANDER thereby tightening and inconveniencing REMINISCENCE (P. S. Chouhan) and SUPERLATIVE (P. Shinde) causing both the horses to be steadied. Thereafter, approaching the 100 metres, he once again leaned inwards thereby inconveniencing REMINISCENCE. Therefore, it was decided to fine Jockey R. Ajinkya a sum of Rs.5,000/- for careless riding.

FROM 10TH MARCH 2024 UPTO AND INCLUDING 7TH APRIL 2024 (7 DAYS, BOTH DAYS INCLUSIVE) AND THE REMAINING ONE RACE DAY ON THE FIRST RACE DAY OF THE PUNE MEETING 2024, FOR UNSATISFACTORY RIDING – ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “SNOWFALL” IN RACE NO.170 RUN ON 2ND APRIL 2023:

 

In connection with the captioned subject, the Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 31st March 2024, having heard the submissions made by Jockey A. Sandesh, as also the Stipendiary Stewards, having considered all the papers and proceedings before them and having deliberated in the matter at length, decided to allow his mercy petition and reduced the period of suspension of his Jockeys licence upto 31st March 2024.

In connection with the captioned subject, the Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 31st March 2024, having heard the submissions made by Jockey Neeraj Rawal and Trainer Sanjay Kolse, as also the Stipendiary Stewards, having considered all the papers and proceedings before them and having deliberated in the matter at length, decided to give Jockey Neeraj Rawal the benefit of doubt and severely cautioned for him for the future.
