RACE DAY REPORTS
RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 2 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 3 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES AND THEREAFTER 4 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 2 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 3 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.
On a request from Trainer S. S. Attaollahi, permission was granted to Trainer P. Shroff to saddle his charge DOUBLE SCOTCH in the 4th race, at his own (Trainer – S. S. Attaollahi’s) risk and responsibility.
RACE NO.1 (114) – THE SPORTSBET.IO PRESTIGE MILE: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS - 5
In the final stages of the race, OPUS DEI (C. S. Jodha) shifted out despite the riders efforts thereby bumping and forcing BUBBLY BOY (P. Trevor) outwards, due to which BUBBLY BOY was tightened on more than one occasion and had to be checked. After the race, Jockey C. S. Jodha stated that his mount was inclined outwards throughout the race despite his efforts due to which he could not ride out his mount to full advantage. Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.
After the race, BELIEVE & OPUS DEI were trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.2 (115) – THE MADRAS RACE CLUB CUP: (ABOUT) 2400 METRES – RUNNERS - 3

RACE NO.3 (116) – THE FUN FAST FAIR TROPHY BY SPORTSBET.IO: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS - 8
GALLOPING GLORY (S. A. Amit, dr.8) refused to be stalled despite substantial efforts, as such, the mare was permitted to be withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order. Trainer Vinesh has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the mare to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
SPIRITUAL ROCK (K. Nazil, dr.5) lost about a length at the start.
It was observed that approaching the 400 metres, MIGHTY WINGS (App. Haridas Gore) was momentarily held up for room and had to check and change course thereafter MIGHTY WINGS leaned inwards onto SHOWMAN (App. Mustakim Alam) carrying the latter inwards. After the race, App. Haridas Gore confirmed that he was held up for room since there was a wall of horses in front of him and reported that passing the 300 metres his reins slipped momentarily.
After the race, SHOWMAN was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. at the Trainers stable and was found to be sore by left fore, as such, the colt has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
After the race, MIGHTY WINGS was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by left fore, as such, the mare has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
After the race, AWAY SHE GOES was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was found to be sore by left fore, as such, the mare has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
RACE NO.4 (117) – THE SONNY BRAR TROPHY: (ABOUT) 2000 METRES – RUNNERS - 7
At the request of Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait, ENDURANCE was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. at 09.00 a.m. on 18th February 2024 at the stables and was found to be sore by left fore with painful swelling at fetlock joint, as such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was permitted to be withdrawn on Veterinary grounds and has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.
After the race, Jockey N. S. Parmar (IDEALISTA) reported the loss of whip passing the 400 metres. This being his first instance during the current Mumbai Meeting 2023/24, no action has been initiated.
RACE NO.5 (118) – THE INDIAN AIR FORCE TROPHY - DIVISION I: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 12
Trainer Subhag Singh has been fined Rs.3,000/- for putting in late declaration in respect of his charge DEMETRIUS.
At the start, LORD VADER (P. Trevor, dr.7) jumped outwards onto RHYTHM OF NATURE (Amyn Merchant, dr.8) forcing it outwards onto NELSON RIVER (R. Ajinkya, dr.9) at the same time EMPOWER (App. P. Shinde, dr.11) shifted in and went across DEMETRIUS (S. Zervan, dr.10) and NELSON RIVER causing both the horses to be steadied. Jockeys P. Trevor and P. Shinde have been cautioned.
After the race, App. Haridas Gore (CIPHER) reported loss of whip passing the 200 metres. This being his second instance during the current Mumbai Meeting 2023/24, App. Haridas Gore has been fined Rs.2,000/-.
After the race, Jockey Prashant P. Dhebe (WILD THING) reported that his mount jumped out throwing its head up.
After the race, FIERY RED was observed to have lost its left fore shoe and RHYTHM OF NATURE was observed to have a gum injury.
The Equine Hospital reported that NELSON RIVER had right eye injury (sore).
RACE NO.6 (119) – THE SPORTSBET.IO MILLION: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS - 8
MANSA MUSA (P. Trevor, dr.2) lost about two lengths at the start.
Jockey N. S. Parmar (AMADEO) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence during the current Mumbai Meeting 2023/24, Jockey N. S. Parmar has been fined Rs.3,000/-.
After the race, PICASSO was trotted and found to be sound but was observed to have wolf tooth on both sides. As such, Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures.
RACE NO.7 (120) – THE WORLD'S OLDEST BARBERSHOP TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS - 10
RESTART (Mustakim Alam, dr.4) lost about a length at the start.
LIGHTNING BLAZE (Prashant P. Dhebe, dr.3) jumped outwards and went across RESTART (App. Mustakim Alam , dr.4) who was marginally slow to begin and thereafter bumped BOMBAY (J. Chinoy, dr.5) causing the latter to be steadied. Jockey Prashant P. Dhebe has been cautioned.
Approaching the 400 metres, SORRENTO SECRET (P. Trevor) shifted out under use of whip thereby tightening and inconveniencing CALIPH (R. Ajinkya) who had to check and change course. After questioning and not being satisfied, Jockey P. Trevor has been fined Rs.3,000/-.
Passing the 200 metres, EMERALD QUEEN (K. Nazil) was denied a clear passage since there was a packed field in front of him due to which the Jockey was unable to ride out his mount to complete advantage.
After the race, T. S. Jodha (THE FLUTIST) reported loss of whip at about the 50 metres. This being his first instance during the current Mumbai Meeting 2023/24, no action has been initiated.
After the race, BOMBAY was trotted and found to be sound but was observed to have a gum injury.
RACE NO.8 (121) – THE INDIAN AIR FORCE TROPHY - DIVISION II: (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS - 10
Trainer Subhag Singh has been fined Rs.3,000/- for putting in late declaration in respect of his charge GOOMAH.
At the request of Trainer M. Narredu, LORD FENICIA was examined at 11.45 a.m. on 16th February 2024 by the Club’s Sr. V.O. at the stables and was found to have colic, as such, the horse was certified unfit to race and was permitted to be withdrawn on Veterinary grounds.
GALLOPING AHEAD (N. S. Parmar, dr.6) planted, thereby losing considerable ground at the start. Trainer Aman Altaf Hussain has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
At the start, ATTAINED (P. Shinde, dr.9) jumped outwards thereby carrying GOOMAH (J. Chinoy, dr.10) outwards causing both the horses to be steadied.
Passing the 150 metres, NAIROBI (App. M. S. Deora) shifted out under use of whip thereby tightening, inconveniencing and carrying SENTINEL (R. Ajinkya) outwards. After questioning and not being satisfied, Jockey M. S. Deora has been suspended for 1 race day i.e. on 10th March 2024 (permitted to ride work/mock race), for careless riding

ADDITIONAL REPORT:
RE: APPEAL BY JOCKEY S. SAQLAIN AGAINST THE SUSPENSION OF HIS JOCKEYS LICENCE FOR 2 RACE DAYS I.E. ON 25TH FEBRUARY & 7TH MARCH 2024 FOR CARELESS RIDING ON HIS MOUNT “AHEAD OF MY TIME” (DRAWN 5) IN RACE NO.94 THE DR. S. C. JAIN SPRINTERS’ CHAMPIONSHIP (GRADE 2) (DIST. 1200 MTRS.) RUN ON 3RD FEBRUARY 2024:
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on 18th February 2024, having considered the appeal dated 8th February 2024 from Jockey S. Saqlain, having heard him and viewed the video of Race no.94, considered all papers and proceedings before them and having deliberated the matter, decided to reject his appeal.
