PUNE MEETING 2023, SPECIAL RACE DAY, SATURDAY, 9TH, SEPTEMBER, 2023.

RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS WERE PLACED AT ITS ORIGINAL POSITION. RAILS WERE PLACED 7 METRES WIDE IN THE CHUTE.

 

On a request from Trainer Dallas Todywalla, permission was granted to Trainer Sanjay Kolse to saddle his charge GOLDIVA in the 1st race, KEY TO THE MINT in the 2nd race, INTENSE BELIEF in the 3rd race, IT’S MY TIME in the 5th race, DASHMESH DANCER in the 6th race and FASHION ICON in the 8th race, at his own (Trainer Dallas Todywalla’s) risk and responsibility.

 

RACE NO.1(65) – THE HOLY SMOKE PLATE  - DIVISION II: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS -  11

 

GOLDIVA (P. Trevor, dr.2) jumped out slowly losing about two lengths at the start.

 

At the start, RODRI (K. Nazil, dr.7) was marginally slow to begin.

 

Soon after the start, ANOUSHKA (S. Saqlain) shifted in thereby tightening MUFAZA (Prashant P. Dhebe) and VOLARE (P. Shinde). After questioning, Jockey S. Saqlain has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

Approaching the red marker, FREEDOM (C. S. Jodha) shifted in thereby tightening MUFAZA (Prashant P. Dhebe). Jockey C. S. Jodha has been cautioned.

 

Approaching the 1200 metres, ZIP ALONG (App. Mustakim Alam) shifted in thereby tightening and inconveniencing FREEDOM (C. S. Jodha), MUFAZA (Prashant P. Dhebe), ANOUSHKA (S. Saqlain) and DAGGER’S STRIKE (M. S. Deora) due to which ANOUSHKA and DAGGER’S STRIKE had to be checked. After questioning, App. Mustakim Alam has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

Passing the 200 metres, GOLDIVA (P. Trevor) was held up for room and had to be steadied.

 

After the race, Jockey S. Saqlain (ANOUSHKA) reported that his mount was leaning-in in the final stages of the race, despite his efforts. Trainer Faisal A. Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

RACE NO.2(66) – THE JANARDHAN TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1600 METRES – RUNNERS -  9

 

Passing the 150 metres, STAR GALLERY (Vivek G.) shifted out under the use of whip and went across ALPINE STAR (App. Mustakim Alam) and tightened ATAASH (P. Trevor) who had to be steadied. After questioning and not being satisfied with the explanation, Jockey Vivek G. has been suspended for one race day i.e. on 30th September 2023 (permitted to ride work / mock race), for careless riding.

 

App. Haridas Gore (FINCH) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence during the current Pune Meeting 2023, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

After the race, ALPINE STAR was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s Sr. V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, KEY TO THE MINT was trotted and found to be sound.

 

After the race, STAR GALLERY was found to have an abrasion on right hind bulb of heel and on left hind fetlock.

 

RACE NO.3(67) – THE ONE KEPT SECRET PLATE: (ABOUT) 1000 METRES – RUNNERS -  14

 

NORD (App. S. Saba, dr.11) took a fly jump thereby losing about a length at the start.

 

Passing the 350 metres, RISING BRAVE (Shahrukh Khan) shifted in and went across DIVINE SOUL (H. M. Akshay) causing the latter to check and change course. Jockey Shahrukh Khan has been cautioned.

 

Passing the 150 metres, WALSHY (App. Haridas Gore) leaned inwards and made contact with ZUKOR (A. K. Aniket) forcing it inwards onto C’EST L’AMOUR (App. Mustakim Alam). App. Haridas Gore has been cautioned.

 

After the race, INTENSE BELIEF was found to have a bleeding injury on left hind cannon.

 

After the race, RISING BRAVE and NORD were trotted and found to be sound.

 

After the race, TRINKET was found to have injury on right nostril.

 

RACE NO.4(68) – THE G20 SUMMIT CUP: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES –RUNNERS- 14

 

TREASURE GOLD (S. Mosin, dr.8) jumped out slowly losing about 4 lengths at the start. Trainer Bezan Chenoy has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

GINSBURG (Amyn Merchant) jumped out slowly losing about 5 lengths at the start. Trainer Sangramsinh N. Joshi has been asked to give his charge more gate practice and show the mare to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

SHE IS ON FIRE (App. Haridas Gore, dr.9) planted in the stall, taking no practical part in the race. Trainer Nirad Karanjawala has been asked to show his charge in a mock race to the satisfaction of the Starter, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, LUMINOSITY (A. S. Peter, dr.3) jumped outwards and made contact with SPIRIT BAY (H. Zeeshan, dr.4) causing the latter to be steadied.

 

Passing the 200 metres, CHIEFTAIN (Vishal N. Bunde) shifted out under urgings thereby bumping and forcing LUMINOSITY (A. S. Peter) outwards onto DALI SWIRL (A. K. Aniket). After questioning, Jockey Vishal N. Bunde has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

Passing the 150 metres, TOUSSAINT (Neeraj Rawal) shifted in under urgings onto CHIEFTAIN (Vishal N. Bunde) forcing it inwards onto HILMA KLINT (K. Nazil) causing the latter to be checked. After questioning, Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

After the race, HILMA KLINT was found to be sore by right fore. The mare has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, MOUNT SINAI was trotted and found to be sound.

 

After the race, LUMINOSITY was trotted at the stables and found to be sound.

 

The Equine Hospital reported that TREASURE GOLD was found to have sore left eye with ulcer.

 

RACE NO.5(69) – THE FIELD MARSHAL SAM MANEKSHAW MEMORIAL TROPHY: (ABOUT) 2400 METRES – RUNNERS -  6

 

Passing the 200 metres, MAGNETO (S. Saqlain) shifted out and went across GOLDEN KINGDOM (M. S. Deora) and I’TS MY TIME (Akshay Kumar). Jockey S. Saqlain has been cautioned.

 

EUPHORIC (Gagandeep Maan) was observed to have travelled two off the fence for no apparent reason throughout the race. Jockey Gagandeep Maan has been severely reprimanded.

 

RACE NO.6(70) – THE SOUTHERN COMMAND TROPHY: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS - 13

 

On the arrival at the start, Jockey Bhawani Singh (JULIANA) reported that one of the fore shoe of his mount got splayed, as such, as per the norms in accordance with the Calendar notification the filly was withdrawn, before coming under Starters orders.

 

At the start, KINZHAL (Dashrath Singh, dr.7) jumped inwards and went across ZUCCARO (App. Kirtish Bhagat, dr.6) who was marginally slow to begin and made contact with ENCANTAMENTO (Neeraj Rawal, dr.5).

 

At the start, AXIS (A. K. Aniket, dr.12) took a fly jump and in the process brushed the gates and made contact with SLOANE SQUARE (Akshay Kumar, dr.10) forcing it inwards onto NASHVEGAS (H. M. Akshay, dr.9).

 

Passing the 250 metres, NIRVANA (P. S. Chouhan) racing on the haunches of SHE’S A TEASER (Vivek G.) was denied a clear passage and was inconvenienced as a result losing its stride and had to be steadied.

 

Passing the 100 metres, DECACORN (N. S. Parmar) shifted in under urgings thereby tightening and inconveniencing SHE’S A TEASER (Vivek G.) causing the latter to be steadied. On questioning Jockey N. S. Parmar stated that his mount was hanging in. Trainer M. K. Jadhav has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, Jockey Akshay Kumar (SLOANE SQUARE) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight, despite his efforts. Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

Jockey P. Trevor (KINGS LOVE) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence during the current Pune Meeting 2023, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

ZUCCARO (App. Kirtish Bhagat) was observed to have trailed the field for most part of the race. After the race, App. Kirtish Bhagat reported that as the start was effected his mount shied from the other runners and was hesitant to raise a fluent gallop in the early part.

 

After the race, SHE’S A TEASER was examined at the stables and was found to be sore by right fore. The filly has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, NASHVEGAS was found to have an injury on right hind coronet.

 

After the race, DECACORN was trotted at the stables and found to be sound.

 

The Equine Hospital reported that SLOANE SQUARE was found to have sore left eye.

 

RACE NO.7(71) – THE AKKASAHEB MAHARAJ TROPHY  (Grade 3): (ABOUT) 1200 METRES – RUNNERS -  6

 

After the race, JOAQUIN was found to have an injury on right hind fetlock.

 

After the race, THE SOVEREIGN ORB was trotted and found to be sound. Further, at the behest of the Stipendiary Stewards THE SOVEREIGN ORB was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. at the Equine Hospital and was diagnosed to have EIPH (Gr.III). The horse is not permitted to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks and has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

The Equine Hospital reported that MARKET KING was found to have sore left eye.

 

RACE NO.8(72) – THE HOLY SMOKE PLATE  - DIVISION I: (ABOUT) 1400 METRES – RUNNERS -  11

 

Passing the 1200 metres, COMANECI (M. S. Deora) shifted out thereby tightening and inconveniencing IDEALISTA (Neeraj Rawal) causing the latter to check and drop back thereafter passing the 1000 metres COMANECI shifted in due to which IDEALISTA and DAIANNE (Bhawani Singh) were tightened for room and had to be checked. Once again at about the 900 metres COMANECI shifted in thereby inconveniencing IDEALISTA. After the race, Jockey M. S. Deora reported that his mount was erratic. Trainer Subhag Singh has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, IDEALISTA was trotted and found to be sound.

 

The Equine Hospital reported that AWAY SHE GOES was found to have sore left eye.

The urine samples of the winner of the 4th & 8th race, viz. MONARCHY & PRINCE IGOR, and the special sample of ALPINE STAR (2nd race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

 

The urine and blood samples of the MARKET KING (Winner – 7th race) & JOAQUIN (2nd place – 7th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

MOCK RACE RUN ON 9TH SEPTEMBER 2023:

 

Trainer Shazaan Shah has been fined Rs.1,000/- for not producing the registered Racing Colours in respect of his charge CANDESCENT STAR. The horse raced in emergency colours i.e. “ALL BLACK”.

ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “MIGHTY THUNDER” (DRAWN 2) RUN IN RACE NO.38 – THE ASTRAL FLARE PLATE (DIV.II) (DIST. 1000 MTRS.) ON 15TH AUGUST 2023.

 

The Stipendiary Stewards reported Trainer Narendra Lagad and Jockey J. Chinoy with regards to the captioned subject matter.

 

The Stewards of the Club, at their meeting held on Saturday, 9th September 2023, reviewed the video recording of the race and took note of the explanation provided by Trainer Narendra Lagad and Jockey J. Chinoy. They also considered the horse's previous medical history, which included two tieback surgeries and a bout of jaundice. After careful deliberation, the Stewards concluded that no action is warranted in this matter.
