THE SOUTHERN COMMAND GOLD TROPHY
The horse racing season has commenced in the city with high octane racing activity on show at the RWITC premises. One of the highlights of the racing calendar is the Southern Command Gold Trophy race scheduled to be run at the Pune racing track on 13 Aug 2017. As ever the race will be big ticket event with large number of racing enthusiasts along with military personnel of Pune Station scheduled to participate.
This much awaited annual events hosted by the Southern Command has a number of unique features. Apart from the excitement of the race itself the big draw is going to be the conduct of the traditional combat demonstration showcasing the operational capabilities of the Army to include mock drills by helicopters, tanks, BMPs and the Para Commandos. To add the excitement of the demonstration there will be a tent pegging and dressage show by cadets of the National Defence Academy. Also in attendance will be the brass and military band performing inspiring martial music.
Lt Gen PM Hariz, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, ADC, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command accompanied by a large number of military and civil dignitaries.
