Quasar should win The General Rajendrasinhji Million
By Bob Sawhny

Pune:Only three thoroughbreds, have accepted to compete, in The General Rajendrasinhji Million, which will be run here on Sunday, 31st August 2014. This esteemed Terms race is for Horses, 3 years old only and the distance to be traversed is about 1800M. The prestigious event is the 4th race in a card of 10 races and it is scheduled to be run at 2.00 P.M. The three horses competing in the race, along with their weight carried are chestnut colt, Quasar 57Kg, dark bay filly, Tatiana 57Kg and bay gelding, Flashing Chieftain 55.50Kg.

I envisage that the three-horse race will not be a competitive one, because in my opinion, Quasar will easily beat his two rivals. Therefore, I am only giving the concise Racing Career Record, Pedigree, other relevant factors and My Final Analysis only of Quasar.

QUASAR (Seeking the Dia - Belle Jour) Trainer: M. Narredu

He is a very well conformed colt who has had the advantage of having one good run on 22/12/2013 over a 1200M, 2YO maiden race, in which he finished a good 2nd, to the well bred and speedy colt-Solomon. After his good run, Quasar worked brilliantly on six occasions and then ran on 2/2/2014 in The 1200M B.K. Rattonsey Memorial Maiden Multi-Million as the favorite, but could only finish 3rd to Merchantofvenice and Last Chance indicating, that he would like to run, over a longer trip 1400 to 1600M. Then, on 23/2/2014 Quasar ran in The 1400M Poonawalla Breeders’ Multi-Million (Gr.1) in which, he finished an excellent close 4th to Shivalik Storm, Be Safe and War Command. The distances between the quartet being NK, ½, NK which showed that Quasar ran a fabulous very close 4th. It must be kept in mind that in that race Quasar 56Kgeasily beat Tatiana 54-1/2Kg (J. Fortune up) whofinished 6th, by as much as 3-1/4L, meaning that Quasar is about 6-1/2 Kg better than Tatiana. Subsequently, on 16/3/2014 Quasar won The 1600M Shapoorji Pallonji Breeders’ Juvenile Colts’ Championship (Gr.3) beating the good gelding Vision of Romance by 1-1/4L in a superb time of 1-36.00s and the latter ran, after a gap of six months, without having a run in the 2014 Pune season and very stylishly won The 1400M Prithvi Edifice Million on 24/8/2014. Quasar is now running on 31/8/2014 in The General Rajendrasinhji Million and he is running after a gap of six months, without a run in the 2014 Pune season. But, Quasar has been blazing the track in his umpteen brilliant morning work-outs & he performed brilliantly on 4/8/2014 in a 1400M Mock Race, along with 9 good horses, winning in 1-28(-17) beating the great Alaindair by a NK.

Browsing over his pedigree, his highly brilliant‘Sire’ Seeking the Diaby Storm Cat out of Seeking the Pearl from 30 starts in Japan, had Seven spectacular winsin Japan, nine places, two shows, Career Earnings Of $ 5,044,815 which incl. Three-G2 races & Two- Gr.3 racesfrom distances of 1400 to 2000M. And His ‘Dam’ Belle Jour by Smarty Jones out of Sky Legend did nothing significant and Belle Jour’s dam, Sky Legend was unraced but Belle Jour’s Grandam - Sky Beauty from 21 great starts, had as many as 15 superb wins, 2 places, 2 shows, .with a colossal Career Earnings of $ 1,336,000 in U.S.A. which included Nine-Gr.1 races, Two-Gr.2 aces & 2-Gr.3 races in U.S.A.So, Quasar’s pedigree is a highly impeccable one.

My Final Analysis: The well-bred and very well conformed chestnut Colt, Quasar is the winner of one race on 16/3/14-The 1600M S. Pallonji Breeders’ Juvenile Colts’ Championship (Gr.3). But, the authoritative manner of winning the aforesaid race was a stupendous one & the brilliant time of One Minute 36s which he clocked, was extremely praiseworthy and indicated that he would mature into a terrific Miler, who could get longer trips with maturity. Plus, in his stylish victory, Quasar decisively beat the fine gelding Vision of Romance at level weights, who on 24/8/2014 trounced the opposition in The 1400M Prithvi Edifice Million and that to, with Vision of Romance, running after a gap of six months. Plus, Quasar’s superb run, where he came 4th in The Poonawalla Breeders’ Multi-Million (Gr.1) conspicuously showed that Quasar is about 6-1/2 Kg better than Tatiana (J. Fortune) who finished 6th. So, now on 31/8/2014 in The General Rajendrasinhji Million Quasar runs at level weights with Tatiana. Hence, the brilliant colt Quasar, who is raring to go and who will relish the 1800M trip, in my opinion will win The 1800M General Rajendrasinhji Million and his not running for about 6 months, will have no effect on him, because he has been blazing the track, in his umpteen classy, morning work-outs and on 4/8/2014 Quasar along with 9 good horses performed superbly in a 1400M Mock Race winning in a time of  1-28 (-17) and beating the great Indian Derby winner Alaindair by a Neck.

The only guesswork in this race, is tofigure out, as to who will come second to Quasar. In my estimation, it could be the impeccably bred bay gelding Flashing Chieftain, trained by Karthik G. who finished a good close 2nd to Westphalia.
