RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS WERE PLACED  AT ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 2 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 4 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 5 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND THEREAFTER 7 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST.  FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED 2 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT AT 1200 METRES AND 4 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES. 

 

On a request from Trainer S. S. Attaollahi, permission was granted to Trainer P. Shroff to saddle his charge BOOKER JONES in the 7th race, at his (Trainer S. S. Attaollahi’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(103) –THE FIDDLE FADDLE PLATE: (About) 2000 Metres – Runners - 8 

 

FRISKY WHISKEY (T. S. Jodha) was reluctant to be stalled. RED FORT (D. S. Daman) was slowly out, losing about 7 lengths at the start. Trainers B. Prakash and Magansingh P. Jodha have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

On questioning after the race, Jockey T. S. Jodha (FRISKY WHISKEY) stated that his mount was flat footed in the straight and did not respond to his urgings. Also, he felt the filly was uncomfortable.

 

After the race, DANSE DEBONAIRE and FRISKY WHISKEY were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(104) – THE MAGIC TOUCH PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 7

          

POINT THE STAR (Bhawani Singh) jumped out slow, losing about a length at the start.

 

Soon after the start, RAIDEN (Neeraj Rawal) shifted out and went on to TIMELESS DEEDS (T. S. Jodha) who had to be steadied.

 

Passing 800 metres, SAMARJEET (C. S. Jodha) shifted out thereby tightening LORD OF THE SEA (N. S. Parmar) who had to be steadied.

 

Passing 500 metres, RAIDEN (Neeraj Rawal) hung out and carried SAMARJEET (C. S. Jodha) and PERFECT STAR (P. S. Chouhan) outwards.

 

Passing 500 metres, POINT THE STAR (Bhawani Singh) drifted towards the outer railings and had to be steadied. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, Jockey Neeraj Rawal (RAIDEN) reported that his mount hung out throughout the race and in an effort to keep him straight, the bit had shifted to one side making it difficult for him to exercise proper control over his mount. Trainer S. K. Sunderji has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, RAIDEN and POINT THE STAR were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3(105) – THE GREATER MUMBAI POLICE CUP: (About) 2400 Metres – Runners - 9 

 

At the start, COVERT ACTION (T. S. Jodha, dr.1) jumped outwards on to ASPEN (Bhawani Singh, dr.2) who had to be steadied.

 

After the race, SOVEREIGNSKY was trotted and found to be sound. The gelding had lost its left fore shoe.

 

RACE NO.4(106) – THE FERRARI PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 5 

 

Passing 300 metres, CATALEYA (Santosh G.) shifted out and went across QUEEN CREDIBLE (C. S. Jodha). Thereafter, passing 100 metres CATALEYA shifted in under urgings and tightened QUEEN CREDIBLE (C. S. Jodha) along the rails. After questioning, Jockey Santosh G. was suspended for 22nd January, 2017 for careless riding (permitted to ride work/mock race).

 

Approaching 100 metres, Jockey C. S. Jodha (QUEEN CREDIBLE) allowed his mount to shift in thereby tightening GOVERNOR GENERAL (A. Sandesh) and RIDER ON THE STORM (R. Ajinkya) along the rails forcing them to be checked. Jockey C. S. Jodha was suspended for 22nd January, 2017 for careless riding (permitted to ride work/mock race).

 

RACE NO.5(107) – THE  INDIAN AIR FORCE TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres –Runners- 8

 

SHANIA (App. S. A. Amit) jumped out slow and thereafter did not raise an effective gallop. Trainer Nirad Karanjawala has been asked to give the mare more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.,

 

Approaching 300 metres, PHOENIX KNIGHT (Suraj Narredu) shifted in thereby tightening WIND CRAFT (T. S. Jodha) along the rails. Thereafter, MIZILLA GOLD (Akshay Gaikwad) shifted in inconveniencing PHOENIX KNIGHT (Suraj Narredu) who was already inclined to run in.

 

After the race, Jockey Suraj Narredu (PHOENIX KNIGHT) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight due to which he was unable to ride out his mount to complete advantage. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures and to show his charge to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a Mock Race, before next accepting to race.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the improved performance of INCENTIO and a report will be submitted shortly.

The Sr. V.O. reported that INCENTIO showed signs of distress after completion of the race. The gelding was taken to the Sampling Yard and washed with cold water, after which he recovered.

 

After the race, PHOENIX KNIGHT was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6(108) – THE AVANTAGE PLATE: About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 14

 

STAR SCHOLAR (Suraj Narredu) was restless in the stall and was not allowing the rider to settle. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

SAHASHRABAAHU (S. Mosin) and MATRIOSHKA (Kishore Kadam) jumped out slow, losing about 2 lengths each at the start.

 

WHITESOX (App. S. A. Amit, dr.10) was observed to have stumbled as soon as the start was effected and thereafter shifted in on to WILDHORN (N. S. Parmar, dr.9) who had to be steadied.

 

Approaching 300 metres, WILDHORN (N. S. Parmar) shifted in under pressure thereby inconveniencing AVAKRAZ (J. Chinoy) who had to be steadied.

 

Passing 150 metres, SUPER BOLT (Neeraj Rawal) shifted in due to which THE GIVER (Akshay Gaikwad) shifted in on to STAR SCHOLAR (Suraj Narredu) forcing him inwards on to ALFONSO (T. S. Jodha) who had to be steadied. Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been cautioned.

 

After the race, MATRIOSHKA was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, WHITESOX and ISINIT were trotted and found to be sound.  WHITESOX had a cut injury at the right hind pastern.

 

RACE NO.7(109) – THE BYCULLA CLUB TROPHY: (About) 2800 Metres – Runners - 4 

 

AL SHAMSHEER (Bhawani Singh) jumped out slow, losing about 2 lengths at the start.

 

The Sr. V.O. reported that after completion of the race, RODEO showed symptoms of distress and collapsed on the track. First Aid treatment was given immediately but the gelding did not respond to the treatment and died on the track.

 

After the race, SEVERUS was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

The urine samples of the winner of the 2nd, 3rd and 6th race, viz. GLYNDEBOURNE, WINTER RENAISSANCE and DECCAN KING, were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : SUSPENSION OF HIS JOCKEY’S LICENSE FOR 15th JANUARY, 2017 FOR CARELESS RIDING ON “SPORTO” IN RACE NO.85 – THE DAMODARDAS C.SHAH CUP RUN ON 29TH DECEMBER, 2016 – JOCKEY A.SANDESH:

 

Vide letter dated 3rd January, 2017 Jockey A. Sandesh informed that he did not wish to appeal against the above decision and requested to advance his suspension date.

 

In view of the above, his Jockey’s license will now stand suspended for 12th January, 2017 for careless riding on his mount SPORTO in Race No.85.

RE :  1) USE OF MOBILE PHONES WITHOUT A VALID BADGE ON THE PREMISES OF THE RACECOURSE ON ON-COURSE AND OFF-COURSE RACE DAYS; AND 2) NON CO-OPERATION AND MISBEHAVIOUR WITH THE CLUB’S OFFICIALS  -  1) MR.SAMEER VIJAY CHALKE; 2) MR.RAMESH AHIRE; 3) MR.SURESH SAWLA & 4) MR.SANDEEP CHALKE :

 

1.   The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Thursday, 5th January, 2017 interviewed Mr. Sameer Vijay Chalke, Mr. Ramesh Ahire, Mr. Suresh Sawla and Mr. Sandeep Chalke, in reference to the captioned subject matter.

 

2.    The Chairman informed that the Stewards of the Club considered all the submissions made by them as also the Club’s Security-cum-Vigilance Officer as well as the concerned officials of the Club. Having considered all papers, proceedings, documents etc. and having heard all the submissions  made,  the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Mr. Sameer Vijay Chalke, Mr. Ramesh Ahire, Mr. Suresh Sawla and Mr. Sandeep Chalke and -

 

a)      held them guilty of using their Mobile Phones without a valid badge on the premises of the racecourse on on-course as well as off-course race days; and

b)      held them guilty of non cooperation and misbehavior with the Club’s Officials as also threatening senior officials of the club;

c)      interfering with  the duties of the Club’s Security-cum-Vigilance Officer.

 

3)            However, taking an overall view, the Stewards kept in mind :-

 

i)        that three representatives from the punters viz. Mr. Satyam Nair, Mr. Bala Kadam and Mr. Ganesh Surve, have pleaded for leniency on their behalf and assured the Stewards that they would alter their behavior and give no cause for complain in the future;

 

ii)      Their appropriate behavior in the Meeting Room during the course of the enquiry and their plea for leniency;

 

iii)    most importantly, giving weightage to the suggestion from Mr. Sanjay Surve, Police Inspector, Tardeo Police Station to be lenient this time;

 

In view of the above, the Stewards of the Club, decided as under :-

 

I.              starting from 6th January, 2017, should they intend to use a Mobile Phone on the premises of the racecourse on on-course and off-course race days, they will have to purchase a Mobile Phone Badge paying the relevant charges or they may deposit their Mobile Phone at the Entry Gate counter.

 

II.             If they have any grievances, they must approach the Chief Security-cum-Vigilance Officer and not to make a demand to only speak to the Secretary or the Chief Stipendiary Steward of the Club;

 

III.            that they will not interfere in enquiries conducted by the Club’s Security-cum-Vigilance Officer, in regard to enquiries he conducts on illegal betting activities and / or use of Mobile Phone without a valid badge.

 

IV.           As  far  as  the  matter concerning their misconduct as mentioned in point 2 (a ), ( b ) and ( c ) as also barging into the office of the Secretary of the Club and threatening senior officials was concerned, the Stewards have  decided to keep their decision pending and will keep a close watch on their behavior on the premises of the racecourse henceforth and thereafter take such decision as deemed fit in the matter.

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE INCIDENT THAT TOOK PLACE DURING MORNING TRACK WORK ON 3rd JANUARY, 2017 – TRAINER SHAZAAN SHAH :

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Thursday, 5th January, 2017 interviewed Tr. Shazaan Shah in reference to the captioned subject matter.

 

At this meeting Tr. Shazaan Shah said that his horse dislodged the rider between the 9 furlongs and the mile and thereafter bolted through the Gate located next to the cabin. He felt that they had ample time to close the gate but failed to do so, whereby he got upset and shouted at the Gate Attendant and slapped him. Tr. Shazaan Shah was aware that in such a scenario his recourse was to lodge a written complaint and he had no right to take law into his own hands. He admitted his guilt and assured that he would refrain from such behavior in the future.

 

The Stewards of the Club having heard Tr. Shazaan Shah, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him and held him guilty of gross misconduct. However, since he had admitted his guilt and assured the Stewards that he would refrain from such behavior in the future, the Stewards took a lenient view and decided :-

 

1)       to suspend his Trainer’s license w.e.f. 7th January, 2017 till 22nd January, 2017 (both days inclusive);

2)       Further, to impose on him a suspended sentence of one month over the next five years i.e. if he was found guilty of any act of misbehavior / misconduct within the next five years commencing from 23rd January, 2017, then the aforesaid suspended sentence of 30 days would immediately come into force and effect and which aforesaid punishment would be in addition to any other punishment which the Stewards may impose on him for any subsequent act of his as regards the aforesaid.

 

Further, Tr. Shazaan Shah was cautioned to control his temper and that any acts of misbehavior / misconduct by him in the future, would be severely dealt with by the Stewards.
