RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS WERE PLACED AT 3 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 5 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 7 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 9 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND THEREAFTER 11 METRES AWAY UPTO THE WINNING POST.

 

FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH RAILS WERE PLACED FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 5 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 7 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

 

RACE NO.1 (76) THE P. D. BOLTON TROPHY- (ABOUT) 1400 METRES - RUNNERS -  4

 

At the start, RAFFAELLO (S. Saqlain, dr.3) jumped inwards brushing the gates thereafter made contact with COUNT OF SAVOY (A. Sandesh, dr.2) who thereafter shifted in brushing the haunches of SON OF A GUN (App. Mustakim Alam, dr.1).

 

RACE NO.2 (77) THE W. BUCKLEY PLATE - (ABOUT) 2000 METRES - RUNNERS - 8

 

At the start, SONG SONG BLUE (N. B. Kuldeep, dr. 8) jumped and veered outwards and had to be steadied. After the race, Jockey N. B. Kuldeep reported that his mount was inclined outwards in the straight. Trainer Subhag Singh has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

Passing the 1300 metres, AMBER KNIGHT (C. S. Jodha) leaned inwards thereby tightening WILLY WONKAA (A. Sandesh). Thereafter approaching the 400 metres, AMBER KNIGHT (C. S. Jodha) leaned inwards thereby tightening RAGNAR (Bhawani Singh) along the rails. Jockey C. S. Jodha has been cautioned.

 

After the race, AMBER KNIGHT was observed to have lost his left fore shoe.

 

After the race, WILLY WONKAA & SONG SONG BLUE were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3 (78)   THE V. P. KOREGAONKAR PLATE -  (ABOUT) 1600 METRES -  RUNNERS -  10

 

At the request of Trainer Nirad Karanjawala, SHE IS ON FIRE was examined in the stable area at 11:30 am on 18/01/2023 and was found to have Colic, as such, the mare was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds and has to be passed fit by Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

At the behest of the Stipendiary Stewards, a Stewards’ Enquiry was held in this race. The reason being, passing the 200 metres, Jockey C. S. Jodha (CAMPAIGN) had shifted in under urgings onto TOUSSAINT (A. Sandesh) who in turn shifted in onto SOUZA (App. Kirtish Bhagat) racing along the rails thereby causing severe interference to them and also inconveniencing RUBIK STAR (R. Ajinkya) and MARLBORO MAN (J. Chinoy) who had to be steadied.

 

After considering the submissions made by Jockey’s concerned as also the Stipendiary Stewards and viewing the replay of the race. Acting on their own observation the Stewards decided to disqualify CAMPAIGN (placed second by the judge) and held Jockey C. S. Jodha guilty of dangerous riding. The revised Order of Placings was as follows:-

An enquiry has been initiated into the above interference and report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, CAMPAIGN was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4 (79) THE Y. M. CHAUDHRY MEMORIAL TROPHY - (ABOUT) 1400 METRES  - RUNNERS -  10

 

At the start, STAR GALLERY (S. J. Sunil, dr.7) jumped inwards onto UZI ( S. Zervan, dr.6) causing the latter to be checked.

 

RACE NO.5 (80)  THE JEHANGIR P. DUBASH TROPHY -  (ABOUT) 1000 METRES - RUNNERS - 8 

 

At the start, SOUP AND SANDWICH (P. Vinod, dr. 6) jumped inwards and at the same time HUNTING GODDESS (P. S. Chouhan, dr.3) jumped outwards due to which EXCELLENT GOLD (K. Nazil, dr. 4) shied away and went onto HILMA KINT (App. Mustakim Alam, dr. 5) who was tightened and had to be checked.

 

Approaching the 500 metres, HILMA KLINT (App. Mustakim Alam) shifted in thereby inconveniencing NOLAN (Vishal N. Bunde) who had to be steadied.

 

After the race, Jockey J. Chinoy (NORTHERN SINGER) reported that passing the 200 metres,

his reigns slipped momentarily in the straight.

 

After the race, SUPERLATIVE was trotted and found to be sound, however, was observed to have cut injury on right hind fetlock.

 

RACE NO.6 (81) THE MADRAS RACE CLUB TROPHY - (ABOUT) 1000 METRES - RUNNERS - 5 

 

After the race, MOZELLE was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7 (82) THE M. M. T. PANDOLE PLATE DIVISION II - (ABOUT) 1200 METRES RUNNERS - 11 

 

REDEFINED (K. Nazil, dr. 9) jumped out slowly losing about a length at the start.

 

At the start, ARBITRAGE (App. Haridas Gore, dr.8) jumped inwards and at the same time SILVER STEPS (S. Zervan, dr.6) jumped outwards due to which SILENT NIGHT (N. Nadeem, dr.7) drawn between them was tightened and had to be checked.

 

Passing the 800 metres, ARBITRAGE (App. Haridas Gore) shifted inwards thereby tightening SCOTTISH SCHOLAR (Amyn Merchant) who had to be checked and dropped back due to which TEISPES (R. Shelar) also had to be checked thereby dropping back onto REDEFINED (K. Nazil) causing him to clip the former and stumble which resulted in the rider of the latter being unbalanced thereby losing his right stirrup which he regained soon after. After questioning App. Haridas Gore and not being satisfied with his explanation, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

After the race, PERFECT MAN was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, SILVER STEPS was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8 (83) THE M. M. T. PANDOLE PLATE  DIVISION I - (ABOUT) 1200 METRES - RUNNERS -  11

 

It was observed that SWIFT (App. N. Bhosale, dr. 10) drifted out under urgings and completed the race on the outer portion of the track. Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, ALEJANDRO was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, SWIFT & M’SARRAT were trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 4th & 7th race, viz. BELIEVE & CHARMING STAR, were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
