RACE DAY REPORTS
RAILS WERE PLACED AT ITS ORIGINAL POSITION FROM 2000 METRES UP TO 1400 METRES, 2 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 3 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES AND THEREAFTER 4 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. RAILS WERE ALSO PLACED 5 METRES WIDE IN THE CHUTE.

RACE NO.1(69) –THE GODSPEED PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 12
Soon after the start, MONK (S. Zervan) leaned inwards on to AME (N. S. Parmar), who in turn shifted in thereby tightening ISINIT (Amyn Merchant) forcing it to be checked and drop back.
After the race, SENIORITY was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
The Equine Hospital reported that COLOSSEUM had right eye injury (corneal opacity and lacrimation, moderate ulcer in the right eye), ISINIT had left eye injury (mild ulcer with lacrimation), TURMERIC TOWER had left eye injury (mild ulcer) and THEA’S PET had injury in both eyes (left eye sore and right eye mild ulcer).
After the race, MARIANNE was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.2(70) –THE FAIR ALWAYS PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 10
After the race, Jockey P. Trevor (QUARENCIA) reported that his mount was erratic in the straight and after passing the winning post it veered outwards thereby dislodging him. In view of the above, Trainer S. K. Sunderji has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
RACE NO.3(71) –THE GUEST CONNECTIONS PLATE: (About) 2000 Metres – Runners - 12
THE PIE (A. Sandesh) reared up and flipped over in its stall, as such, the mare was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order. MELISANDRE (Bhawani Singh) was reluctant to be stalled and APRILIS (T. S. Jodha) jumped out slow and thereafter did not raise an effective gallop. Trainers Imtiaz A. Sait, S. K. Sunderji and M. K. Jadhav have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
At the start, MANDEVILLE (P. S. Chouhan, dr. 11) and MELISANDRE (Bhawani Singh, dr. 13) jumped outwards and had to be steadied.
Passing the 150 metres, MOON RIVER (N. S. Parmar) shifted out and went across CIRCLE OF LOVE (S. Zervan) who had to be steadied. Jockey N. S. Parmar has been cautioned.
The Sr. V.O. reported that THE PIE was examined immediately after withdrawal at the gates and was found to be trotting sound. However, after the races THE PIE was reported to the Equine Hospital at 4.30 p.m. and on examination, the mare was found to be sore from the right hind leg and had swelling at the hind quarters. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, JACK FLASH was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, ASPIRATION and BRIANNA was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.4(72) –THE DESERT LIGHTNING PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 7
At the start, VAN DYKE (Akshay, dr. 4) jumped inwards and made contact with BAIT AND SWITCH (Vikram Jodha, dr. 3) who was steadied.
After the race, BAIT AND SWITCH was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, VAN DYKE was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.5(73) –THE HOMI MODY TROPHY: (About) 2000 Metres – Runners - 6
The above race has been shifted to Sunday, 10th January, 2021 and will be run as the last race of the day.
Please note that due to heavy rains at Pune, the Stewards of the Club decided to cancel the remaining races of the day i.e.

At the request of Trainer Altaf Hussain, GILT EDGE was examined at 1000 hours on 08/01/2021 and found to be sore by the left hind leg, as such the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on veterinary grounds. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

The urine sample of the winner of the 1st race, viz. WARRIOR CLAN was collected for detection of prohibited substance.
