From the Horses Mouth - Race form Analysis Guide for Sunday, 16th December 2018

- By Cyrus Naterwalla

Race No. 1 :- The Cole Gold Trophy – Div. I – Class V – Distance :- 1200M

BRAVE :-Well bred but inconsistent 5 year old gelding trained by Narendra Lagad, he is a half brother to To The Manor Born and has run 10 times so far with just 1 victory to his name. That win came a couple of starts ago over 1000M beating Komodo Dragon by 1 ½ lengths which is just modest form. He had a lung opener already this season, finishing 5th to Romantic Warrior over 1000M and should not be troubled by the additional furlong. He will be ridden by stable Jockey Dashrath Singh and looks capable of running into the frame but may struggle against the younger horses and hard to fancy him from a win perspective.

SIXTH EMPEROR :-2nd runner from the Narendra Lagad yard who makes his racing debut today and looks an interesting sort on paper. His dam Six Speed was a Champion filly in her own right and although she has not produced a juvenile for several seasons, she is the dam of the Champion Speed Six, winner of 11 of his 30 starts, his wins including The Juvenile Million, The Suresh Mahindra Multi- Million, The Bangalore Turf Club Trophy (Gr.3) and the Sprinters Trial Stakes (Gr.3) and runner up in The Colts Championship Stakes (Gr.1) The Chief Ministers Cup (Gr.3) and finished 2nd and 3rd in the Sprinters Cup (Gr.1). He has been working quite well in the morning gallops and should be fit and ready to go first time out. A paddock check is advised but if looking well he could be an interesting long shot with good apprentice K. Nazil booked to ride. One to keep an eye on.

FLAMING MARTINI :- The clear form pick and the likely warm favourite, this improving 3 year old filly trained by Dallas Todywalla has been improving with every run and after 2 modest efforts in Pune, finishing 3rd to Improvisso on debut over this trip and then 3rd again to Sacred Roman over 1400M, she looked vastly improved on her seasonal debut when travelling well into the straight and only beaten close home by La Rondine who was franked the form quite decisively. She is likely to improve for the run, has been working well and with the forceful David Allan taking over in the saddle, she looks hard to beat and is likely to emerge victorious.

BOURBON PRINCESS :- Relatively more exposed 3 year old filly from the S.K. Sunderji yard, she has run 7 times so far, running respectably on most occasions without showing a great deal of improvement but she took advantage over a straightforward opportunity last time out when scrambling home over this trip from She Is A Spy and Faberge in Class V. She should take confidence from that win and is only up another 4 kilos but looks to be taking on much tougher opposition today and may find it hard to repeat. She looks well within herself though and NeerajRawal takes the ride. Should finish in the frame.

FINDLERHOF :- Another interesting looking debutant, this one from the yard of Imtiaz Sait, she is by Phoenix Tower out of Mabaahej, a smart American mare who threw some decent types abroad. She was brought here in foal to Elusive Quality and the half sister Miss USA only raced twice in Western India, finishing 3rd on 1 occasion. Findlerhof has also been working quite well in his preparatory work and looks to be a decent sort. A paddock check is advised to ascertain his fitness but he is another who could prove to be interesting with retained jockey P. Trevor in the saddle.

TRANSFORM :-Promising 4 year old grey trained by Nosher Cama, she is better than her record of 1 win from 14 starts suggests and has been relatively untried in most of her starts. She scored a fluent 3 ¼ length maiden success on this track at the end of March beating Diwali Lights and Gandalf and had not been tried since, in 6 runs. She had a warm up in the same race as Flaming Martini, finishing 5thabout 7 ½ lengths adrift. That run should put her spot on for this, the switch from D.A. Naik to P.S. Chouhan suggests that connections and strong again today and she is likely to run well again and be in the firing line.

CONCLUSION :- With La Rondine going on to win the Indian 1000 Guineas next time out, Flaming Martini is the obvious choice and should shed her maiden tag today with David Allan in the saddle. Transform, with a better Jockey is expected to finish much closer to her today and both the debutants, Findlerhof and Sixth Emperor look interesting types and are capable of upsetting.

Race No. 2 :- The Ranjit V. Bhat Memorial Gold Trophy – Class I & II – Distance :- 1600M

NEW ENGLAND :- Tough and consistent 5 year old gelding who is one of 2 runners from the Imtiaz Sait yard, he has an admirable record of 6 wins and 8 placed efforts from his 21 starts and has been running well in middle distances Group races for some time now although he is yet to win one of them. He finished a good 2nd to Cambridge in the Pune City Gold Cup over this trip and travelled down to Mysore where he was runner up for the Mysore Golden Jubilee Cup behind Mauritania and was well fancied on his seasonal reappearance but was again beaten by Cambridge and Caprisca, finishing 3rd in spite of being better placed on the scales. He now drops into a handicap but is conceding weight to some promising younger horses and may not be suited by the small field. A case can be made that he was ridden too prominently last time out as he likes to finish on from off a strong pace and Robbie Downey takes over in the saddle today from Dashrath Singh. He is the highest rated runner here but may suffer from a false pace in this small field. Can score but maybe a bit high in the weights.

B FIFTY TWO :-Stable mate of New England and finished behind him in the A.C. Ardeshir but has hopes of reversing that form today as the race is likely to be run to suit him. He excels in small fields where he is able to control the gallop from the front and is likely to be able to do just that today. Himself a multiple Group Race winner having scored in 8 of his 37 starts with 14 placed efforts as well, he will be ridden by P. Trevor who knows him extremely well and is expected to make a bold bid from the front today. That previous run should have given him some fitness and provided he still retains his old spark as he has not won in his last 7 starts, he could prove to be a big danger to them all and control the race from the front.

COSTA BRAVA :-Highly rated 4 year old who seems to be finally coming into his own and has won his last 3 races in impressive fashion, being a winner of 4 from 7 overall. He convincingly gave weight and a beating to Excellent last time out and has a smart turn of foot so may not be troubled by a slowly run race. He is in receipt of  9 ½ kilos from B Fifty Two which could eventually be the decisive factor and is capable of making the running if required. S. Zervan takes the ride, he looks to be progressing with every run and is very strongly fancied to make it 4 in a row.

GRAND ACCORD :- Another rapidly improving 4 year old this one from the in form stable of Karthik G who has been firing in winners of late, a mile has proved to be his pet trip and he has won his last 4 starts over that trip, with one failure when upped to 2000M in between. He again came with a strong late run to pip Brainstorm close home last time out but will be disadvantaged as his regular rider A. Imran Khan cannot make the weight and he will be partnered by Bhawani Singh instead. He too looks to be at the top of his game at present but is another who is unlikely to be suited by how the race pans out.

CONCLUSION :-Very competitive in spite of the small field with any of the 4 runners capable of winning on their day and tactics are likely to play a huge role. Costa Brava has been progressing with every run and appears to be a bit more flexible with regards to tactics and is selected with the huge weight advantage to prevail but B Fifty Two excels in small fields where he is allowed to dominate and if allowed to set his own pace, he could prove hard to catch.

Race No. 3 :- The P.M. Rungta Golden Sprint Stakes – Class III & IV – Distance :- 1000M

POKERFACE :-Speedy 4 year old gelding trained by Nosher Cama who has won thrice and finished runner up thrice in his 12 runs so far and seems to excel over this trip. He usually needs a couple of runs before hitting form as he showed during the recent Pune season but was a decisive winner over Gold Field and Riquewihr on his penultimate start and on his seasonal reappearance last time out ended up a good 2nd behind Riquewihr who reopposes again today. A. Sandesh is an interesting jockey booking with P.S. Chouhan apparently preferring Fine Tune and although he has a huge weight to contend with, he looks fit and well and is dangerous to ignore having also bagged the plum rail draw.

RIQUEWIHR :- Speedy 3 year old filly from the Pesi Shroff yard who usually goes well fresh and seems to run her best race first time out as she has won thrice from her 7 starts so far and each one of those runs have been her first run of the season. She was a decisive winner over Pokerface and Gold Field earlier in the season and her penalty is somewhat negated by her rider’s claim although the switch from P. Trevor to inexperienced 5 kilos claimer is a negative. She has to prove that she can go on and progress from winning her first start but may struggle to repeat in this company and appears to be more of a minor berth contender today.

COLUMBIANAPRINCESS :-Speedy 3 year old filly who excels over this trip and was unbeaten in her first 3 starts, easily accounting for Riquewihr last season in The Bahrain Trophy. She failed to last out when tried over 1200M on her penultimate run but then bounced back when runner up to Iron Age reverting to 1000M last time out. She was unbeaten in 2 runs on the Mumbai track last season and if resuming in the same vein, looks well placed on the scales. K. Nazil has been booked to ride, claiming a valuable 2 ½ kilos in the saddle and she looks a strong contender to get back to winning ways over her pet trip.

FINE TUNE :-Steadily improving 4 year old filly trained by Nosher Cama, she has been very consistently and quietly moving up the handicap ranks winning 3 of her 12 starts and has been very consistent in her last several runs. She seems to win alternate races so by that logic appears to be due for a win now. She ran twice during the recent Pune season, winning unfancied on the first occasion and then finished  1 ¼ lengths behind Columbianaprincess last time out when 3rd to Iron Age. Columbianaprincess if 2 ¾ lengths better off on the scale on that run but it is significant that P.S. Chouhan has selected Fine Tune over Pokerface and she appears to be a live danger.

CONCLUSION :-Columbianaprincess is selected to get back to winning ways on a track on which she is yet to taste defeat. The consistent Fine Tune appears to be the main threat to her

Race No. 4 :- The Cole Gold Trophy – Div. II – Class V – Distance :- 1200M

EL COMMANDANTE :-Nicely bred 3 year old gelding trained by Altaf Hussain who has not quite lived upto expectations so far and is still a maiden after 4 runs. Making his debut towards the end of last season and well fancied but only managing to run 6th to Run Forest Run in the Banarsidas Million, he went on to run 2 decent placed efforts in Pune, finishing a distant 2nd to 1000 Guineas 4th Eyes For You over 1200M and again a faraway 3rd to Bushtops and Jetfire upped to 7 furlongs next time out. However, he ran poorly again on his seasonal reappearance although upped to a mile that day where he was again fancied but finished 6th to Lucky Luciano. He might have needed that lung opener, is now eased in grade into the lowest class and also drops in trip back to 1200M and A. Sandesh takes over in the saddle from K. Nazil. It is early days so he looks capable of further improvement and this opposition looks decidedly easier. He has been working very well for some time now and if reproducing that effort on the race grass, he has a strong chance to succeed.

MEDICI :-Nicely bred 3 year old from the S.K. Sunderji yard, he is winless in 5 starts although he has finished 4th on 3 occasions. He has been tried over distances ranging from 1000 to 1800M with his best effort coming over this trip when a faraway 3rd to Mount Olympus and Iron Age back in January. He was stepped up to middle distances in Pune, racing over 1800 and 1600M and finishing 4th on the latter occasion and he had a lung opener here earlier in the season where he ran a forward race and kicked on to finish 4th behind Patriot’s Day, not settling at all that day and racing very keenly. He too could be suited by the drop in trip, seems to be working well and P. Trevor who was up last time out keeps the ride. He could find some improvement over this shorter trip and is respected.

SHARAREH :-Unexposed and improving 3 year old filly trained by Rehanullah Khan, she ran two promising races in Pune and now enters handicaps off what looks a reasonable mark. Making her debut in a 5 furlong maiden in August, she was given a good educative run and finished an easy 4th behind Shivalik Queen and built on that next time out when finishing a good 3rd to Excellent Sorrento, in the firing line at one stage before weakening. She has been kept pretty fresh since that run and should improve again but the switch from A. Sandesh to Bhawani Singh is a negative. She could be going in for an airing today and a paddock check is advised but she looks open to further improvement and is fully capable of scoring here.

LILIBETH :-Exposed and unreliable 4 year old filly trained by Narendra Lagad who appears to be well placed on the scales at present but has a poor record of just 1 win from her 14 runs so far. She has run twice already this season, finishing 5th on both occasions and well held by She Is A Spy last time out. Dashrath Singh keeps the ride and she could be thereabouts but looks a rank outsider who has a small chance to upset.

MYRCELLA :- 3 year old maiden trained by young Shazaan Shah who has run 6 times already and does not seem to be improving much having finished 3rd on a couple of occasions and looks to lack the scope of improvement of some of those lesser raced than her. Making her debut on this track last season, she went on to run 4 times in Pune, finishing a faraway 3rd on her first run behind Kilkarry Bridge and then failing to figure in the next 3 starts. She looked like she might have improved over the break when again running 3rd to Juno’s Guest on her reappearance here but will need to build on that effort to have a say. H. Zeeshan who rode her last time out keeps the ride but she will need to unlock further improvement before she can have a major say. Can fight it out for minor honours.

SHE IS A SPY :- Has a speedy pedigree and looks progressive, given time to come to hand and untried in her first 4 starts but showing some improvement towards the end of Pune and going very close on her reappearance run here when fancied for the first time and just failing to collar Bourbon Princess over this trip. She looks to have maintained her form and fitness since that run and comes into this race in good current form. With Sandesh booked for El Commandante, NeerajRawal takes the ride and she looks the form choice here and should make a brave bid to go one better.

CONCLUSION:-Some 3 year olds with obvious potential here but it may pay to side with the form horse She Is A Spy who got the hang of things very late last time out and was flying home once the penny dropped. Sharareh looked very promising in Pune and should be a danger if ready to go as do the 2 three year olds El Commandante and Medici who have yet to perform on the race track. All in all this race is probably best watched without a wager.

Race No. 5 :- The Faiz Jasdanwalla Trophy – Maiden 2 Year Olds – Distance :- 1200M

HEADWAY :- Son of Arazan from the S.K. Sunderji yard who comes from an ordinary family who has produced several offspring in India without having anything to write home about, the best performed being Strike The Stars who won 7 races in Ooty although the recent siblings have not really performed. He has had a couple of good gate practices but looks a little short on preparatory work and may be out for an educative run today. Dashrath Singh takes the ride and he looks like one who may be better off in the longer term and is passed over today.

SANDMAN :-Son of Kingda Ka who comes from the small yard of Nirad Karanjawala and has been showing good speed in his preparatory work. The dam Sultry Me has produced only one other sibling, Blaze The Track who was winless in 5 starts in Western India placing 3rd on 1 occasion. The yard usually has their runners fully wound up first time out and P.S. Chouhan has been booked to ride so he is likely to be fancied by connections. He could be involved but looks vulnerable to something with a little more quality
KARIEGA :-Another progeny of Kingda Ka who comes from the powerful and in form stable of Vishal Gaikwad and will be ridden by man of the moment Leigh Roche and has to be respected on that score alone. Her pedigree looks promising being a half sister to Sakura who has won 2 of her 8 starts and has placed in both the Mysore and Hyderabad 1000 Guineas and beat Oomph decisively in the Lady Doctor Fillies Trial Stakes in Mysore. Her last couple of workouts have been eye catching so she looks to be coming to hand and is seriously considered here and could very well make a winning debut.

PEERLESS :-Again represents powerful connections, owned by the Shirke – Dhunjibhoy partnership and trained by veteran M.K. Jadhav who have already tasted juvenile success this season. She has had plenty of preparatory work so is likely to be fit and ready to go and has been working better than previous winner Namaqua and appears to be working the best of this lot. A. Sandesh has been booked to ride and from the Plum No. 1 draw she looks set to give a very good account of herself and has an excellent chance to score at the first time of asking.

PROPERLY POSH :- The first foal of classy race mare To The Manor Born, trained by Altamash Ahmed and to be ridden by retained jockey Neeraj Rawal. She too looks an interesting type on paper and has looked forward in her couple of gate practices although she may be a touch underdone first time out. A paddock check is advised to ascertain her fitness and she is one worth keeping an eye on although she may be better over further in the long term. Dark horse.

STARRINGO :- The only one with previous experience, she made her debut 3 weeks ago over 1000M and found Namaqua to be too speedy although she was making up ground as the line approached, ending up a close 2nd and is likely to have learnt plenty from the experience. The additional furlong is likely to be in her favour and P. Trevor retains the ride and she has gotten a good draw in Stall 2. She is expected to improve from her debut effort and with the fitness advantage today, looks the most likely winner and is strongly fancied.

CONCLUSION :-The benefit of prior experience has proved to be a huge advantage among 2 year olds and hence Starringo is selected today to go one better than her late finishing 2nd last time out. She has a good draw and P. Trevor in the saddle. Peerless appears to be the main danger on paper although Kariega and Properly Posh look classy types and cannot be ignored.

Race No. 6 :- The VillooPoonawalla Indian 2000 Guineas (Grade 1) – Terms, 3 YO only – Distance :- 1600M

AWESOME ONE :-Improving 3 year old colt trained by young Deepesh Narredu, he has been progressing nicely with his racing and has won 2 of his 3 starts so far. Runner up to Excellent on his debut last Mumbai season, he went on to score a bloodless maiden win in Pune and looked vastly improved in his lead up race in Class III when returning from a longish break to score an impressive 4 ½ length win over Grand Tenton, clocking a fast time in the process. All his runs so far have been over 1400M but his style of racing suggests that the mile should not be a problem. He appears to need to improve a great deal on the bare form to even come close to the 2 market leaders but looks to be coming along nicely and can be given an outside chance to upset.

BUSHTOPS :-Quirky 3 year old gelding who comes from the stable of M.K. Jadhav and clearly has ability but also looks to be very headstrong and a difficult ride. He became many people’s dark horse for the Pune Derby after his visually eye catching 7 furlong maiden win over Jetfire in Pune but he failed to raise a gallop that day and finished well beaten. He finished 3rd to Sacred Roman in his lead up race over a mile where he again came through the middle and flattered to deceive but he was conceding weight that day and is better placed on the scale today. A. Sandesh has been booked to ride and he is another who could be given a small outside chance but needs a leap of faith to support him.

EXCELLENT :-The best performed of the local contingent but seems to have gone off the boil slightly in his last couple of starts and needs to bounce back. Decisive winner of the 2 plum 3 year old races in Pune, the F.D. Wadia and the S.A. Poonawalla Multi Million, he was always going to be a suspect stayer in the Pune Derby and tried his best ending up a gallant 4th and not beaten a long way. However, he disappointed in his lead up, when easily beaten by Costa Brava receiving weight although Costa Brava’s run earlier in the card may give a clue to the strength of that form. He looked poor on his reappearance and needs to have improved and strengthened to have a say. Clearly a factor if at his best.

SACRED ROMAN :-Possibly the colt with the maximum potential here, has always been highly regarded by his connections and started favourite for a strong race in Bangalore on debut against the likes of Desperado and Shesmyscript. Both his wins have been workmanlike, seeming to do just what is required and score by a narrow margin, last time just holding off Bronx by a whisker over this trip with Bushtops back in 4th. His master trainer knows all about Classic preparation though so it would be no surprise to see him improve dramatically and although not looking to have a chance on pure form, he could very well be the one to spring a surprise with Leigh Roche looking for a Guineas double.

SIR CECIL :- The current “King of the 3 Year Olds” and the only unbeaten runner in the field, having looked a class act so far and already a multiple Classic winner, annexing the Mysore 2000 Guineas and Derby in a veritable canter. He will undisputedly be too strong over further but the only time he has been threatened has been over a mile in the Bangalore Colts Trial where Star Superior got to within a head of him and one senses that if he is vulnerable, it will be over this trip. He has been working superbly since his last win and appears to be in prime form. David Allan is a shrewd tactician and is likely to judge the pace well and he still appears the one that they all have to beat.

STAR SUPERIOR :-Top quality colt in his own right and unfortunate to have been born in the same year as Sir Cecil but looks to have his best chance to beat him today over this mile trip. He too has been in good form, claiming the Deccan 2000 Guineas and Derby although his performances have been more workmanlike and the margins of victory lesser. However, he too has been immaculately prepared by his trainer and Suraj Narredu is in the saddle as usual. If there is any chink in the armour of Sir Cecil then he looks the one most likely to exploit. Can upset.

CONCLUSION :-Although Sir Cecil looks well nigh invincible on paper, stranger things have happened in racing and the best chance for this current crop to beat him comes over this mile trip where he just might be a shade vulnerable. This is the strongest opposition that he is facing in a while and also his first run on the Mahalaxmi track. Star Superior looks a worthy adversary and is capable of gaining revenge for his head defeat in Bangalore and this pair seems to tower over the rest

Race No. 7 :- The Satinello Trophy – Class IV & V – Distance :- 1000M

JULIO CESARO :- Speedy but exposed 3 year old who is one of 2 runners from the Narendra Lagad stable but should come into this race with confidence having gained an overdue maiden success on his last start where he beat Clark Kent by 1 ¼ lengths with the same rider up. He previously failed to see out his races so he appears to have improved although the long Mumbai straight would not be to his advantage and he has also been drawn wide in Stall 12. He has been working well since the last run and should make a bold bid to repeat.

CHOSEN ONE :-Another exposed sort from the S.K. Sunderji yard, this Surfrider gelding is still winless after 9 starts but has been threatening to strike in his last couple of starts and is likely to emerge from the maiden ranks before too long. He has finished runner up in each of his last 3 starts and has the advantage of a run already this season, finishing on late and giving a scare to the highly regarded Joplin over this trip. He appears to have maintained his condition since the run and P. Trevor keeps the ride. He looks to have a strong chance to succeed today and is greatly respected in this company.

CLARK KENT :- Speedy and lightly raced grey who has been slowly working his way into form and has raced exclusively over this trip so far in 4 runs, finishing runner up on 2 occasions. He needed the run back from a long break on his Pune reappearance and showed progress last time out but found Julio Cesaro too speedy, ending up a good 2nd. He is likely to improve for that run and is now much better placed on the scales so appears to have an excellent chance to gain revenge. Good 5 kilo claimer A.S. Peter has been booked to ride and having moved from Malesh Narredu to Nosher Cama, he stands a good chance of making a winning start for his new yard.

HIGHLAND LASS :- Another consistent 3 year old filly trained by Dallas Todywalla, she too has finished runner up in all her 3 starts till date and has been knocking at the door, looking to have quite a strong level of form. No match for Kilkarry Bridge on debut but finishing well clear of the rest, she was strongly fancied next time out in a Class V contest but was badly hampered by a riderless horse at a crucial juncture which probably cost her when runner up to Romantic Warrior by ¾ length. She was being hailed as a winner on her last start when shocked by Hyannis close home and she had the measure of Arabia on that day. All her 3 runs have been over 6 furlongs but this drop in trip looks likely to suit and with A. Sandesh in the saddle today, she looks a leading contender to get off the mark.

MIGHTY WARRIOR :-6 race maiden from the stable of Karthik G this 5 year old gelding has also been running quite suggestively without winning, finishing in the first four in each of his last 4 runs without looking overly serious. He has already had 2 runs this season within the space of 4 days, ending up a faraway 3rd to Lesrel and then going on to finish 4th to My Precious. Bhawani Singh keeping the ride suggests that he may still need a little time to come to hand but he looks an interesting outsider.

CONCLUSION :-Highland Lass appears to have a good level of form and went very close last time out. She is selected dropped to this trip. Clark Kent looked to be heading back to form and is the main danger along with Chosen One who has also been knocking at the door.

Race No. 8 :- The Stylecracker Borough Stakes – Class III & IV – Distance :- 1400M

GLORIOUS EYES :- Consistent but exposed 5 year old handicapper trained by Imtiaz Sait who will find this trip on the sharp side and also has to concede weight all around although Raghuveer Singh claims a useful 3 ½ kilos in the saddle. She has won 3 of her 22 starts and has finished 2nd on 5 occasions for a good overall record. Her last win came almost exactly a year ago over 1800M when she got up to beat Zanara and Take Five and she has only run 4 times since then, running just once in Pune and getting a lung opener on this track. The trip looks on the sharp side and she is taking on some good younger horses so she seems to be more of a place prospect but must be taken into consideration and can be involved.

BOTTEGA LOUIE :-Clearly has plenty of ability but also seems an unlucky type having finished 2nd 5 times in her 11 runs so far but been unable to add to the success that she gained on debut. She was a hot favourite on her first  runs in Pune, pipped on the post by Pioneer first time out and then finding the classy La Magnifique too strong on the 2nd occasion and was also strongly fancied on her seasonal reappearance this season but again got going late to finish a close 3rd to Arashi and Bunting. C.S. Jodha gets back in the saddle returning from his long suspension and she clearly should be a threat to all and may finally regain the winning thread today.

GRAND TENTON :-Well bred 4 year old gelding trained by Vishal Gaikwad who does not appear to be totally sound but clearly has ability and has performed well in his limited career so far. Finishing in the first two in 5 of his 8 starts till date, he has won twice before, the 2nd of those wins coming when totally unfancied on his penultimate run in Pune over this trip when he beat Aurora Australis convincingly. He had a good start to this season when runner up to Awesome One over this trip last time out and with Leigh Roche in the saddle, should make a bold bid to return to winning ways.

SASSY LASS :-Nicely bred 4 year old filly from the small stable of Asad Siddiqui who was thought good enough to run in the Indian 1000 Guineas last year and justified connections faith in her somewhat by scoring back to back wins in the recent Pune season. Winner over 1200M on the opening day, she went on to win convincingly over 7 furlongs before her hattrick bid came unstuck upped to a mile last time out where she ran on to finish 3rd to two promising 3 year olds Desperado and Barbaresco. She will prefer the slight drop down in trip and the booking of NeerajRawal catches the eye. She looks to have each way claims if fit and ready to go and comes into calculations.

HYANNIS :- 3 year old gelding who probably has the maximum potential in this field and may have been in need of the run earlier in the season when a red hot favourite on the opening day but running poorly to finish 5th to Lucky Luciano. He was hugely impressive on debut when in spite of running green and travelling wide, he flew to peg back Highland Lass close home and looks open to improvement on just his 3rd start. P.S. Chouhan who rode him last time out keeps the ride, he is sure to leave that running well behind now and receiving weight all around looks a strong fancy to resume his upward curve.

CONCLUSION :-Hyannis looked a promising prospect in the making on debut and his last run should be taken with a pinch of salt. He is selected to get back to winning ways over the consistent but frustrating Bottega Louie.
