The Southern Command Gold Trophy (Gr 3) has been renamed for this year

The traditional Southern Command Gold Trophy (Gr 3) run for years in honour of the Southern Command is being postponed from its scheduled date of Sunday, August 28.
The Local Military authorities have requested for a change in view of a new Army Commander who will take charge in Pune on September 1 and as the present incumbent Lt.Gen Rawat has been promoted as Vice Chief of Staff in Delhi around the same time and the date is therefore not convenient to the local authorities.
The Club will now run the Southern Command Gold Trophy (Gr 3) as The Armed Forces Trophy (Gr 3) on the same day, with the same terms, so as not to disturb the schedule of horses targeted for this race. The change of name has been approved by the Chairman of the Indian Pattern Committee, as a special case for this year, in view of the exceptional circumstances.
The revised date of the postponed running of the Southern Command Gold Trophy will be intimated shortly.
