The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India has Granted Leave to the BTC in the Special Leave Petition filed by the Karnataka Racehorse Owners Association, Bangalore Turf Club Ltd., National Horse Breeding Society of India and others against the Government of Karnataka.

Effectively, this means that the case has been admitted by the Hon’be Supreme Court & Hon’ble Justice Gogoi & Hon’ble Justice Ramana believe there is merit in the matter that needs to be heard in detail. The Special Leave Petition filed will now be converted into an Appeal and it is likely to be listed after 5-6 years. The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India is currently hearing Appeals relating to the years 2001-2002

The Government of Karnataka was pressing for eviction of the Bangalore Turf Club from its existing premises where racing has been uninterruptedly been conducted for over 185 years based on a Grant by the erstwhile Maharaja of Mysore.
