Presentation by India at IFHA Conference in Paris

India was given the rare privelege of making a presentation on Indian racing and breeding at the 44th International Conference of Horseracing Authorities in Paris, popularly known as the Paris Conference, under the aegeis of the IFHA.

Representing the Turf Authorities of India was Mr.Surender Reddy, Chairman, HRC who introduced the presentation, and Mr R.Ramakrishnan. RWITC was represented by Chairman, Vivek Jain and Secretary, Behram Engineer.

A 20 minute AV showcasing the growth of Indian racing and breeding was shown before a select gathering of about 150 representatives of 59 member countries, which included all the major racing nations. Asia was given a slot for the first time, and fittingly India was given the chance.

The film, which was a montage of clips of racing over the years and featuring statistical highlights covering both racing and breeding was very well received, and was rated as one of the best presented at this Conference.

The IFHA's International Conference included talks covering Horse Welfare, Current economic trends in breeding and racing, Wagering issues and the impact of the internet to Investec's sponsorship of the Epsom Derby.

The IFHA Conference is always held on the Monday after the Prix  de l'Arc de Triomphe won this year in sensational fashion by Workforce in a narrow finish from a Japanese rank outsider.
