RACE DAY REPORTS
RAILS WERE PLACED 4 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM THE 1200 METRES CHUTE UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES RUN AT THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED 2 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT AT 1100 METRES EXTENDING TO 4 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.
RACE NO.1 (9) – THE ALLEY CAT PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – 11 Runners
After being stalled, ART O WAR (App.N.B.Kuldeep) played up and hooked one of his fore leg on the front gates. The gelding was taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. who certified him fit to race. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials before next accepting to race.
At the start, LILIBETH (T.S.Jodha, dr.10) jumped inwards and made contact with FIRE FLAME (Bhawani Singh, dr.9).
At the start, OSPREY ARROW (C.Umesh, dr.8) shifted in on to DEAN’S GOLD (J.Chinoy, dr.7) ). At the same time, ABRAXAS (App.M.Ayyar dr.3) shifted out on to WHISPERING QUEEN (Neeraj Rawal, dr.5), due to which BUDDYHOLLY (P.S.Chouhan, dr.6) who was drawn between them was tightened for room.
Soon after the start, DEAN’S GOLD (J.Chinoy) shifted in thereby tightening BUDDYHOLLY (P.S.Chouhan) forcing the latter to be checked and drop back. After questioning Jockey J.Chinoy and not being satisfied with his explanation, he was suspended for One Race Day i.e. 11th August 2018 for careless riding (permitted to ride work/mock race).
After the race, BUDDYHOLLY was found to be sore by the right hind leg. Also the gelding had a cut injury at the right hind hock. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
The Sr.V.O. further reported that at the request of the Trainer, BUDDYHOLLY was scoped at the Equine Hospital after the race and no abnormality was detected.
After the race, OSPREY ARROW was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind bulb of heel.
RACE NO.2(10)– THE NITROUS PLATE : (About) 1600 Metres – 7 Runners
At the start GRAND ACCORD (A.Imran Khan, dr.2) who was drawn between SUMAAQ (C.S.Jodha, dr.1) and SAGITTARIUS ( S.A.Amit, dr.3), was tightened for room and dropped back.
Passing 400 metres, GRAND ACCORD (A.Imran Khan) shifted out on to CELESTIAL LIGHT (Neeraj Rawal), forcing it outwards on to SUMAAQ (C.S.Jodha). Jockey A.Imran Khan has been cautioned.
RACE NO.3(11) – THE DOUBLE BULL PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – 13 Runners
At the request of Trainer C.Rajendra, MAGICAL BLOSSOM was examined at the saddling area before the second race and was found to have swelling on the inside of the left hind cannon and was sore by the left hind leg, as such the filly was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on veterinary grounds. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After being stalled, EMPIRE STATE (C.Umesh) reared up and hit the top bar of the starting gate. The gelding was taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. who certified him fit to race.
POINT THE STAR (App.N.B.Kuldeep) took an awkward fly jump thus losing about 3 lengths at the start.
Soon after the start, ETERNAL DANCER (N.S.Parmar) shifted out on to AQUARIUS (D.A.Naik) who in turn shifted on to DIWALI LIGHTS (N.Nadeem) and KOTOR (P.Trevor), due to this DIWALI LIGHTS had to be checked. After questioning Jockey N.S.Parmar and not being satisfied with his explanation, he has been suspended for One Race Day i.e. 11th August 2018 for careless riding (permitted to ride work/mock race).
Passing 800 metres, OLLY BOY (App.D.R.Shubham) and BAY OF LOVE (G.Amit) were observed to have jostled due to lack of room.
In the final stages of the race, ANGEL COIN (S.G.Prasad) shifted in thereby inconveniencing MONTANA (App.K.Nazil). Jockey S.G.Prasad has been cautioned.
Jockey Mansoor Khan (SHAKIN STEVENS) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.
Jockey Yash Narredu (DIVINE SPARK) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.
The saddle used on OLLY BOY (App.D.R.Shubham) was observed to have slipped during the race. Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been fined Rs.2,000/- for faulting saddling of his charge.
An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of MONTANA (App.K.Nazil). Further, Trainer Faisal A.Abbas has also lodged a complaint on behalf of his owner against Jockey K.Nazil for not following the riding instructions. A report in this regard will be submitted shortly.
After the race, MONTANA and ANGEL COIN (examined on 27/07/2018) were trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.4(12) – THE SEA RULER PLATE : (About) 1800 Metres – 8 Runners
Trainer Narendra Lagad lodged a complaint that he was not satisfied with the riding of Apprentice Jockey K.Nazil on ROGUE ONE. An enquiry has been initiated in this regard and a report will be submitted shortly.
After the race, SILVER EDGE, GOLD MEDALIST and PRETTY ANGEL were trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.5(13)– THE J.E.HUGHES TROPHY : (About) 1000 Metres – 9 Runners
HIGHLAND BREEZE (App.Raj Pawar) jumped out throwing its head.
At the start, CHAPLIN (Neeraj Rawal, dr. 3) jumped inwards and made contact with GOD’S OWN (T. S. Jodha, dr. 2).
Passing 300 metres, QUEEN CREDIBLE (Bhawani Singh) shifted out and made contact with GODS OWN (T. S. Jodha). Jockey Bhawani Singh has been cautioned.
An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of SOUTHPAW and a report will be submitted shortly.
After the race, SOUTHPAW was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.6(14) – THE ALLEY CAT PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres – 9 Runners
BARRINGO (S.Mosin) was not permitted to run.
After being stalled, MIGHTY STAR (C.Umesh) played up in the stall and hooked its both fore legs in the adjoining stall. Considering that the gelding had got stuck in an awkward manner, he was taken out and was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order. BLITZKRIEG (App.D.R.Shubham) who was in the adjoining stall was also taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. who certified him fit to race. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to give his charge MIGHTY STAR more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials before next accepting to race.
Soon after the start, NEXTSTAR (P.S.Chouhan) shifted in and went across BLITZKRIEG (App.D.R.Shubham) forcing the latter to be steadied. Jockey P.S.Chouhan has been cautioned.
RACE NO.7(15) – THE DOUBLE BULL PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – 14 Runners
At the start, MAESTRO (App.N.B.Kuldeep, dr.8) was tightened for room between XOXO (N.S.Parmar dr.7) and ZEEMO (App.M.Ayyar, dr.9) and had to be steadied.
Jockey Dashrath Singh (ARABIAN STORM, dr.14) has been fined Rs.3,000/- for failing to maintain a straight course and thereby cutting across the field before passing the red marker.
Soon after the start, ZEEMO (App.M.Ayyar) shifted in and made contact with MAESTRO (App.N.B.Kuldeep) who in turn shifted in on to TORETTO (S.Zervan). After questioning Apprentice M.Ayyar and not being satisfied with his explanation, he has been suspended for One Race Day i.e. 11th August 2018 for careless riding (permitted to ride work/mock race).
An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of ROYAL ACE and a report will be submitted shortly.
After the race, ROYAL ACE was trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 1st, 3rd and 6th race, viz. MALAVIKA, ETERNAL DANCER and IMPALA, and the special sample of MONTANA (3rd race), SOUTHPAW (5th race) and ROYAL ACE (7th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : RACE NO.3 – THE HURRICANE PLATE (DIV.I) – RUN ON 20TH JULY, 2018 :
The Equine Hospital reported that ARC SHINE had left eye injury (small opacity) and was treated.

RE : RACE NO.4 – THE GAMBLE FOR LOVE TROPHY – RUN ON 20TH JULY, 2018:
The Sr.V.O. reported that SUMMER RAYS who ran in Race No.4 on 20th July, 2018 was presented to the Equine Hospital on 21st July, 2018 with the complaint of cut injury over the left hind lateral side of the cannon bone. The wound was dressed and bandaged and the filly was treated with antibiotics and pain killer.

The Equine Hospital reported that DANCE THE DREAM had left eye injury (corneal ulcer).

The Equine Hospital reported that GOLDEN TOWER had right eye injury (corneal ulcer).

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “ENCHANTED” (DASHRATH SINGH, DR.3) IN RACE NO. 305 – THE RAJCOOMAR GUJADHUR MEMORIAL TROPHY (DIV.II) (1000 METRES) RUN ON 28TH APRIL, 2018
The Stipendiary Stewards reported that they had questioned Trainer M.Narredu and Jockey Dashrath Singh in the above connection.
When questioned, Jockey Dashrath Singh said that his instructions were that if he was comfortable then he should sit well up or else let the filly get into her stride, do not put pressure on her, gradually improve and do his best. Trainer M.Narredu confirmed the instructions.
The video recording of Race No.305 was viewed and when asked for his observation, Trainer M.Narredu said that he felt that the Jockey started riding out a bit late in the straight, however, the Jockey is the best judge and he has no grievance with his riding since the winner came from way behind to beat his filly.
Jockey Dashrath Singh said that he felt that ENCHANTED was a light filly and was racing in a week’s time, hence he had to support and ride her and she was weakening towards the end.
Having heard the submissions made by the Trainer and Jockey and having viewed the video recording of the race, the Stipendiary Stewards felt that the Jockey had ridden an ill-judged/injudicious race, especially on an On Money favourite, due to which he may have lost the first place making the matter serious, hence are reporting the matter to the Stewards for such action as they deem fit.
The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on 26th July, 2018 interviewed Trainer M.Narredu and Jockey Dashrath Singh in the above connection and having heard them and having viewed the video recording of Race No.305 as also the filly’s previous run i.e. Race No.199, the Stewards decided to give Jockey Dashrath Singh the benefit of the doubt. However, he was cautioned him for the future.

RE: APPEAL RECEIVED FROM APPRENTICE H.ZEESHAN AGAINST THE DECISION OF THE STEWARDS OF THE CLUB IN RESPECT OF SUSPENSION OF HIS JOCKEY’S LICENCE FOR 4 RACE DAYS I.E. W.E.F. 20TH JULY, 2018 TO 4TH AUGUST, 2018 (PERMITTED TO RIDE WORK/MOCK RACE) AS ALSO IMPOSE ON HIM A SUSPENDED SENTENCE OF 4 RACE DAYS OVER THE NEXT TWO YEARS FOR BEING GUILTY OF UNSATISFACTORY RIDING ON HIS MOUNT – ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “HUDSON” IN RACE NO.263 – REGAL EQUITY PLATE RUN ON 1ST APRIL, 2018 AT THE MUMBAI RACE COURSE:
The Board of Appeal at its meeting held on 17th July, 2018 considered Appeal dated 18th April, 2018 from Apprentice H.Zeeshan in the above connection.
The Board of Appeal studied all documents and papers that were submitted including App.H.Zeeshan’s grounds of appeal and heard the submissions made by him as also his spokesman, Mr.Shazaan Shah and Trainer M.Narredu and having viewed the video tape recording of the race in question i.e. Race No.263, deliberated on the matter at length and having applied their minds, decided to reject his appeal and forfeit the deposit. Accordingly, the decision of the Stewards of the Club stands.
