ADDITIONAL REPORTS:

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “UNCLE SCROOGE” IN RACE NO.55 - THE SAINT EMILION PLATE (2400 METRES) - RUN ON 20th AUGUST, 2016 :

Immediately after the race, Jockey P. Trevor came and reported that Jockey Yash Narredu (KOMANDANT) had knocked him out at the start which had inconvenienced him and caused him to lose a lot of ground.

After questioning Tr. M. K. Jadhav and viewing along with the Trainer, the race in question as also the horse’s previous races, the Stipendiary Stewards were of the opinion that despite the interference at the start (giving it due weightage), Jockey P. Trevor could have sat in a better position like he had done in the previous winning race in Mumbai and made his challenge and the horse may have won the race.

When asked for his opinion of the Jockey’s riding, Trainer M. K. Jadhav said that Jockey P. Trevor was a top Jockey and he would be in a better position to answer that, however, he was satisfied with the Jockey’s riding keeping in mind the bad interference at the start.

Jockey P. Trevor  confirmed the instructions and stated that soon after the start, KOMANDANT (Yash Narredu) had shifted out and took him wide, which  may have cost him 4 to 5 lengths and thereafter, he had settled his mount. When questioned as to why he had not made an effort to cover up the lost ground, he said that if he had hurried the gelding, he may have got very keen and he would have found it difficult to settle the horse. He added that passing the 5 furlongs, he had started niggling at the horse and thereafter gave him a backhander to get him going but the gelding had not shown the same turn of foot as he did in Mumbai.

The matter was reported to the Stewards for such action as deemed fit.

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on 17th September, 2016 interviewed Trainer M. K. Jadhav and Jockey P. Trevor in the above connection. Having heard the submissions made, having viewed the race several times and having deliberated the matter, the Stewards decided that no action was called for.

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “DIVINE MAGIC” (DRAWN. 2) IN RACE NO.84 - THE ALGECIRAS PLATE (DIV-I), RUN ON SUNDAY 28th AUGUST 2016:

Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait and Jockey Dashrath Singh were questioned in connection with the above captioned matter. Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait stated that he had informed the Jockey that DIVINE MAGIC does not have initial speed, however, he should sit in a good position, start making his move from the 5 furlongs and coming into the straight to do his best. Jockey Dashrath Singh confirmed the instructions and added that he was also instructed not to hassle the colt.

On being questioned about his observation of the race, Tr. Sait said that at the start his horse was tightened by the horses drawn on either side, as a result he lost his initial position. Thereafter, he had gone out and coming into the straight he improved his position and had done his best. To a specific question, Tr. Sait said that he was satisfied with the riding efforts of the Jockey, as his body language shows that he had all intentions to win.

Jockey Dashrath Singh said that he had received interference at the start and could not hold his position and thereafter he had made his move from the outside and done his best. He added that he did not feel the need to use the whip as the colt was responding well to his urgings, however in the final stages of the race his mount hung in and that is when he used his whip.

Having heard the submissions made and viewing the video recording of the race, the Stipendiary Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by the Trainer and Jockey as they felt:

1)       The interference at the start as mentioned by the Trainer and Jockey was more of a jostle and had not impacted Jockey Dashrath Singh to the extent that he had to drop out to the rear end of the field.

2)       In the straight, Jockey Dashrath Singh could have been more vigorous in his riding efforts.

As such, the matter was reported to the Stewards for such action as they deem fit for unsatisfactory running and riding of DIVINE MAGIC.

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on 17th September, 2016 interviewed Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait and Jockey Dashrath Singh in the above connection.  Having considered the submissions made and having viewed the video of the race in normal as well slow motion, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey Dashrath Singh and held him guilty of unsatisfactory riding on his mount DIVINE MAGIC. In that, he was instructed to sit in a good position, start making his move from 1000 metres and do his best in the straight. Even

considering his statement that the horses drawn on his either side tightened him on jump out, however, the interference was more of a jostle and not impacted him to the extent that he had to drop out to the rear of the field. Further, he was not vigorous in his riding effort in the straight. He pulled out the whip in the final stages of the race and he unbalanced the horse for no apparent reason which cost him the raceTrainer Imtiaz A. Sait concurred with the Stewards view. Therefore, the Stewards decided to suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 8th October, 2016 to 22nd October, 2016 (both days inclusive) for unsatisfactory riding (permitted to ride work/mock race).

Further, in this regard, the Stewards decided to caution Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait to report such matters to the Stipendiary Stewards at the earliest.

RE : ENQUIRY INTO BREACH OF THE DISABILITIES IMPOSED ON THE TRAINER SUSPENDED UNDER THE MEDICATION RULES – HORSES TRASFERRED BY TRAINER ALTAMAASH A. AHMED TO TRAINER SANJAY KOLSE :

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 17th September, 2016 considered the evidence obtained by the Stipendiary Stewards in the above enquiry and interviewed Trainer Altamaash A. Ahmed and his Spokesperson, Ms Anita Khalakdina, as also Trainer Sanjay Kolse. Having enquired into the matter and having applied their minds to the entire facts and circumstances of the case and to all papers, proceedings reports and records and also having permitted Trainer Altamaash A. Ahmed/his Spokesperson to make submissions in the subject matter, found no concrete evidence to charge Tr. Altamaash A. Ahmed for directly or indirectly training the horses which he had transferred to Trainer Sanjay Kolse, during the period of his suspension. However, the Stewards held the view that there was sufficient circumstantial evidence to suggest that Trainer Altamaash A. Ahmed did have some involvement in the management of the said horses. Therefore, they decided to fine him a sum of Rs.15,000/-.

Further, the Stewards were also not entirely satisfied with the explanation tendered by Tr. Sanjay Kolse in this enquiry and decided to warn him that in future if he took charge of horses from a suspended trainer, he should be well versed with the Rules/Calendar Notifications in this regard and not allow outside intervention in the management/training of those horses.

The Stewards were also not entirely satisfied with the explanation tendered by Assistant, Mr. Jude Stephenson in the enquiry before the Stipendiary Stewards and decided to warn him for the future.

RE : RACE NO.99 – THE NANA RAGHUNATH TROPHY RUN ON SUNDAY, 4th SEPTEMBER, 2016 – APP. RAGHUVEER SINGH, RIDER OF “BULLION EXPRESS” – REPORTED TO THE STEWARDS FOR SUCH ACTION AS DEEMED FIT FOR SHIFTING IN ON TO QUATRO  AND TIGHTENING HIM ALONG THE RAILS, APPROACHING 100 METRES :

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 17th September, 2016 interviewed App. Raghuveer Singh who was accompanied by his Master, Tr. Imtiaz A. Sait. Having heard them and having viewed the video of the race in normal as well as slow motion, the Stewards were not entirely satisfied with the explanation tendered by App. Raghuveer Singh. However, keeping in mind that he was an upcoming Apprentice and also MIDNIGHT RUN (N. S. Parmar – Winner) had shifted in slightly whilst taking over the running and in anticipation App. Raghuveer Singh may have shifted in without realizing that QUATRO (App. S. Jaykumar) was on his inside, the Stewards decided to give him the benefit of a grave doubt for the charge of careless riding. However, he was warned that repetition of similar riding will entail severe disciplinary action.
