ADDITIONAL REPORTS :

REENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “XOXO” IN RACE NO. 208 – THE K.J.K. IRANI PLATE – DIV I RUN ON 28th FEBRUARY, 2018

The Stipendiary Stewards reported that they had questioned Trainer S. S. Shah and Jockey T. S. Jodha in the above connection. Trainer S. S. Shah informed that Jockey T. S. Jodha had ridden the gelding in its previous race and his instructions were the same as last time, to take a good jump, sit 3rd/4th and to do his best in the straight. However, he expressed that he was not satisfied with the riding of Jockey T. S. Jodha in this race. He felt that considering the gelding was drawn in stall no. 1 he had the best chance to get into position but he instead checked his mount at least 3-4 times and after coming into the straight he should have come the shortest way home but instead shifted out and went five horses wide thereby losing ground. Jockey T. S. Jodha confirmed the instructions and stated that the gelding did not have initial speed because of which he could not get into position and thereafter was tightened a couple of times in the race. Further, coming into the straight he shifted out as he felt the gelding was galloping better on the outside.

After having viewed the previous as well as the race in question from different angles and keeping in mind that Trainer S. S. Shah has expressed his dissatisfaction with the Jockey’s riding, the matter was reported to the Stewards for such action as deemed fit.

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on 11th March, 2018 interviewed Trainer S. S. Shah and Jockey T. S. Jodha in the above connection. Having heard them and having viewed the video recording of the race in question, as well as the gelding’s previous race during the current Mumbai Meeting, deliberated the matter and decided that no action was called for.
