PUNE MEETING 2018, SPECIAL RACE DAY, SUNDAY, 5TH AUGUST, 2018.

RACE DAY REPORTS

 

RAILS WERE PLACED AT ITS ORIGINAL POINT ROUND THE COURSE.  IN THE 1200 METRES CHUTE, RAILS WERE PLACED AT AN AVERAGE WIDTH OF 3 METRES.

 

RACE NO.1(29)–  THE RUBEN STAR PLATE (DIV.II) : (About) 1200 Metres – 9 Runners

 

At the start, STORMY ATLANTIC (S. Zervan, dr. 7) jumped inwards and at the same time HIGHLAND EMPRESS (S.A. Amit, dr. 5) jumped outwards thereby tightening BERNICE (P. Trevor, dr. 6).

 

Soon after the start, PRIMUM NON NOCERE (Neeraj Rawal) shifted in thereby inconveniencing BONAFIDE (C.S.Jodha). Thereafter, HIGHLAND EMPRESS (S. A. Amit) shifted in and went across PRIMUM NON NOCERE who had to be steadied. Jockeys Neeraj Rawal and S.A.Amit have been cautioned.

 

Approaching 200 metres, STORMY ATLANTIC (S. Zervan) shifted in on to JOPLIN (P. S. Chouhan), who in turn shifted in thereby tightening HIGHLAND EMPRESS (S.A.Amit) forcing the latter to be checked. On being questioned after the race, Jockey S.Zervan stated that his mount was tentative and kept an erratic course under pressure. Trainer P.Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Approaching 100 metres, JOPLIN (P.S.Chouhan) shifted out and bumped STORMY ATLANTIC (S.Zervan) forcing it outwards, due to which RED CARNATION (Dashrath Singh) who was racing on its haunches, had to be steadied. On being questioned after the race,  Jockey P.S.Chouhan stated that his mount shifted out under pressure and he had immediately corrected the filly. Trainer Nosher Cama has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, Jockey S. A. Amit (HIGHLAND EMPRESS) reported that his mount shied away from the horses on its outside and brushed the railings, as such, he was unable to ride out his mount. Trainer Rehanullah Khan has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, JOPLIN was observed to have a cut injury at the left fore cannon. RED CARNATION and HIGHLAND EMPRESS were found to be sound in the trot. 

 

RACE NO.2(30) – THE MOOSA M.HOOSEIN TROPHY (DIV.II) : (About) 1200 Metres – 12 Runners

 

In the process of stalling, GODSWORD (Dashrath Singh) kicked the gates, as such, the filly was examined by the Club’s Sr.VO who certified her fit to race.

 

At the start, ISINIT (App. M. Ayyar, dr. 8) jumped outwards and made contact with FROSTED (App. A. S. Peter, dr.9), who in turn shifted out on to TRANSFORM (App.S. Joseph, dr. 10).

 

Jockey N.S.Parmar (SCION) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. On questioning, Jockey N.S.Parmar stated that his mount hung-in in the straight and the whip was used as a corrective measure, as such,  no action has been initiated against him. However, Trainer Altaf Hussain has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, SANDRA was observed to have a cut injury at the right fore fetlock. FROSTED was found to be sound in the trot.

 

RACE NO.3(31) – THE RUBEN STAR PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – 9 Runners

 

After being stalled, CAVAROZZI  (N.S.Parmar) and MYRCELLA (P.S.Chouhan) played up in the stall. Both the horses were taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr.VO who certified them fit to race. Trainers P.Shroff and Shazaan Shah have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, HIGHLAND LASS was observed to have a gum injury.

 

RACE NO.4(32) –  THE MERINT DUBAI MILLION : (About) 1000 Metres – 8 Runners

 

At the start, PRINCESS P (P. Trevor, dr. 2) jumped outwards and at the same time MALAWI (Y. S. Srinath, dr. 7) jumped inwards thereby tightening SLAM DUNK (App.N. Nadeem, dr. 3), MISS MONEYPENNY (C. S. Jodha, dr. 4) and GALLANT KNIGHT (A. Imran Khan, dr. 5).

 

Jockey A.Imran Khan(GALLANT KNIGHT) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence he has been fined Rs.3,000/-

 

The Sr.V.O. reported that at the request of the Trainer,  MALAWI was scoped at the Equine Hospital after the races and no abnormality was detected.  However, the filly was observed to have a cut injury at the entrance of the right nostril.

 

The Sr.V.O. reported that at the request of the Trainer,  ENCHANTED was scoped at the Equine Hospital after the races and found to have upper respiratory tract infection.

 

After the race, ENCHANTED was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(33) –  THE PUNE BOOKMAKERS’ ASSOCIATION TURF CLUB TROPHY (GR.3):

(About) 1400 Metres – 8 Runners

Soon after the start, DANCING PHOENIX (S. J. Sunil, dr.7) shifted in and made contact with  CONGRESSIONAL (T.S. Jodha, dr.6). Jockey S. J. Sunil has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of RUFFINA (Neeraj Rawal) and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, CONGRESSIONAL was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind bulb of heel.  RUFFINA, DANCING PHOENIX and ABBEY were found to be sound in the trot.

 

RACE NO.6(34) – THE  MOOSA M.HOOSEIN TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – 13 Runners

 

HOPEILICIOUS (Yash Narredu) jumped out throwing it’s head.

 

At the start, BEYOND FORCES (App.M. Ayyar, dr. 7) jumped out awkwardly on to MAKE IT SHINE (S.G.Prasad, dr.6).

 

At the start, MOUNT OLYMPUS (Dashrath Singh, dr.8) jumped and shifted out and at the same time TENERIFE (A.Imran Khan, dr.10) shifted in thereby tightening PERPETUAL WINNING (App.K.Nazil, dr.9).

 

At the start, BLAZING STEPS (A.M.Tograllu, dr.11) was observed to have taken a fly jump and had to be steadied.

Approaching 300 metres, POLYNEICES (P. S. Chouhan) shifted out and at the same time TENERIFE (A. Imran Khan) shifted in thereby inconveniencing MOUNT OLYMPUS (Dashrath Singh) and tightening EPIPHANY (P.Trevor) forcing the latter to be checked. After questioning Jockeys A.Imran Khan and P.S.Chouhan and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by them, both the Jockeys have been fined Rs.2,000/- each.

 

After the race, CRACKLIN’ ROSIE was observed to have a cut injury at the left hind coronet. MOUNT OLYMPUS was found to be sound in the trot.

 

RACE NO.7(35) – THE  STRATEGIC MOVE PLATE: (About) 1800 Metres – 14 Runners

 

FLASHING HONOUR (Bhawani Singh) and COMMANDPERFORMANCE (S.J.Sunil) jumped out slow losing about 2 and 3 lengths respectively.

 

Jockey N.S.Parmar (CRAY CRAY) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence, he has been fined Rs.3,000/- .

 

After the race, WHOOPSIDAISY was trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th race, viz. BERNICE, EDEN ROCK, PRINCESS P, TIMELESS and EPIPHANY, as also that of RUFFINA (5th race), and the special sample of RED CARNATION (1st race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
