RACE DAY REPORTS
RAILS WERE PLACED AT AN AVERAGE WIDTH OF 3 METRES IN THE 1200 METRES CHUTE. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED 3 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT AT 1000 METRES UP TO THE WINNING POST.
RACE NO.1(43) – THE TRUE ELEGANCE PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – 12 Runners
Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been fined Rs.1,000/- for having arrived late for saddling as a result his charge SHAKIN STEVENS was brought late into the paddock thereby delaying the race.
Soon after the start, TALLY HO (T. S. Jodha, dr. 8) shifted in and made contact with AQUARIUS (D.A.Naik, dr. 7). Jockey T.S.Jodha has been cautioned.
Approaching 1000 metres, PADMAKOSA (Bhawani Singh) who was racing between DIVINE SPARK (C.S.Jodha) and DIWALI LIGHTS (G.Amit), was tightened for room and dropped back thereby inconveniencing AQUARIUS (D. A. Naik) racing on its haunches.
Approaching 800 metres, DIWALI LIGHTS (G.Amit) shifted in and went across ROYSTON ROCK (Amyn Merchant) who had to be steadied. Jockey G. Amit has been cautioned.
Approaching 400 metres, OUTSTANDING (S.J.Sunil) who was racing between DIVINE SPARK (C.S.Jodha) and TALLY HO (T.S.Jodha), was tightened for room and had to be steadied.
The Equine Hospital reported that DIVINE SPARK had left eye injury (lacrimation, corneal ulcer and opacity).
After the race, PADMAKOSA was observed to have an abrasion at both the hind fetlock; WABI SABI had a cut injury at the right hind pastern and AQUARIUS had a cut injury at the right nostril. SHAKIN STEVENS was found to be sound in the trot.
RACE NO.2(44) – THE NAWAB & BEGUM FAIYAZ HUSAIN MEMORIAL TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1400 Metres – 8 Runners
At the start, NOTTING HILL (A. Imran Khan, dr.5) jumped outwards on to MASAR (P.S.Chouhan, dr.6), who in turn shifted out inconveniencing FOUNTAINHEAD (Bhawani Singh, dr.7).
Approaching 600 metres, DANCING HOOVES (S.Zervan) shifted out and carried NOTTING HILL (A. Imran Khan) outwards. On being questioned after the race, Jockey S. Zervan stated that his mount hung out till the last furlong despite his efforts to maintain a straight course.
Passing 400 metres, MERLOT (Yash Narredu) shifted out on to VALEGRO (A. Sandesh). On being questioned after the race, Jockey Yash Narredu stated that his mount had shied outwards.
After the race Jockey C. Umesh (BITCOIN) reported the loss of whip passing the 100 metres. This being his second instance of whip loss during the current Pune Meeting, he has been fined Rs.2,000/-.
After the race, DANCING HOOVES was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
The Sr.V.O. reported that VALEGRO was examined at the stables in the morning on 16/08/2018 and was found to be sound in the trot.
RACE NO.3(45) – THE ENLIGHTENMENT PLATE : (About) 1200 Metres – 10 Runners
At the start, PRICELESSGIRL (S.A.Amit, dr.7) jumped inwards on to IN THE STARS (P.Trevor, dr.6), who in turn shifted in thereby tightening QUEEN CREDIBLE (C.S.Jodha, dr.5).
Soon after the start, GAZINO (P.S.Chouhan) shifted in thereby inconveniencing GLYNDEBOURNE (S.Zervan). Jockey P.S.Chouhan has been cautioned.
After the race, Jockey Neeraj Rawal (LADY SERGEANT) reported that his mount was inclined to lean outwards throughout the race. Trainer S.S.Shah has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
The Equine Hospital reported that EXCELLENT GOLD had right eye injury (lacrimation, corneal ulcer and opacity).
After the race, IN THE STARS was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.4(46) – THE NANA RAGHUNATH TROPHY : (About) 1200 Metres – 11 Runners
After being stalled, COLLEGIUM (R.Ajinkya) played up in the stall. The gelding was taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr.VO and found to be sore by the right fore leg, as such, he was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order. Trainer S.K.Sunderji has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race. Also, COLLEGIUM has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
Thereafter, ROSPOMARE (App.D.R.Shubham) also played up in the stall. The gelding was taken out and was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order. Trainer Faisal A.Abbas has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
Soon after the start, ORION’S BELT (T.S.Jodha) shifted in under urgings and made contact with STALLONE (Amyn Merchant) forcing it inwards on to SAFDAR (A. Sandesh). Thereafter, ORION’S BELT further shifted in and tightened HEROINE (S.Mosin). After questioning Jockey T.S.Jodha and not being satisfied with his explanation, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.
After the race, POCO AZUL was observed to have a gum injury.
RACE NO.5(47) – THE NAWAB & BEGUM FAIYAZ HUSAIN MEMORIAL TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1400 Metres – 7 Runners
At the request of Trainer Narendra Lagad, BATTLE BOT was examined at the stables at 0900 hours on 15/08/2018 and was found to be sore by the left hind leg, as such the filly was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on veterinary grounds. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting with her to race.
At the request of Jockey Neeraj Rawal, the saddle on his mount DEAN’S GOLD was adjusted at the starting gate.
GREEK LEGEND (C.Umesh) and KINGSLAYER (T.S.Jodha) jumped out slow losing about 3 lengths each at the start.
RACE NO.6(48) – THE MAYOR BABURAO SANAS MEMORIAL INDEPENDENCE MILLION POWERED BY SRS GROUP : (About) 2000 Metres – 15 Runners
MOMENTUM (N.S.Parmar) was fractious and refused to be stalled despite substantial efforts, as such, the gelding was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order. In view of above and a similar behavior of the gelding when he was last accepted to race, Trainer P.Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures and to show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter in a Mock Race before next accepting with him to race.
ASPEN (Bhawani Singh) jumped out slow losing about 2 lengths at the start.
PRICELESS ART (Yash Narredu) jumped out slow losing about 5 lengths at the start. Trainer M.Narredu has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
After the race, Jockey S.Zervan (COSIMO) reported that his mount got keen between 1600 metres and 1400 metres and as such may have clipped the heels of SMART N NOBLE (A.Imran Khan).
After the race, App.K. Nazil (REDS REVENGE) reported the loss of whip passing 400 metres. This being his first instance of whip loss during the current Pune Meeting, no action has been initiated.
After the race, ARTUS and TILL END OF TIME were trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.7(49) – THE UNFORGETTABLE YOU PLATE : (About) 1600 Metres – 17 Runners
ROYAL ÉCLAIR (T.S.Jodha) and PRETTY ANGEL (Bhawani Singh) jumped out slow losing about 4 and 5 lengths respectively. Trainers Subhag Singh and Karthik Ganapathy have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
At the start, ABERLOUR (S.A.Amit, dr.8) and CRISTO BOSS (N.S.Parmar, dr.9) jumped outwards and at the same time RICARDUS (C.S.Jodha, dr.10) jumped inwards due to which they were observed to have jostled.
Soon after the start, ABERLOUR (S.A.Amit) shifted out and at the same time WINDFALL (H.Zeeshan) shifted in thereby tightening CRISTO BOSS (N. S. Parmar) and RICARDUS (C.S.Jodha). In this connection Jockeys S.A.Amit and H.Zeeshan have been cautioned.
Approaching 600 metres, ARRECIFE (A.Imran Khan) was observed to have dropped back thereby inconveniencing KOTOR (Neeraj Rawal) who had to be steadied.
Passing 400 metres, HERMOSA (G.Amit) shifted in on to CRISTO BOSS (N.S.Parmar) forcing the latter to be checked. Jockey G.Amit has been cautioned.
Approaching 200 metres, WIZARD OF ODDS (S.G.Prasad) shifted out under the use of the whip and went across HERMOSA (G.Amit). Thereafter, WIZARD OF ODDS further shifted out and carried ANGEL COIN (K.Nazil) outwards. Jockey S.G.Prasad has been fined Rs.2,000/- for having persisted with the whip despite his mount shifting out.
Jockey A.Imran Khan (ARRECIFE) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. On being questioned after the race, Jockey A.Imran Khan stated that his mount hung-in in the straight and the whip was used as a corrective measure, as such, no action has been initiated against him. However Trainer Zadmal Singh has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.
After the race, MONTANA was found to be sore by the right hind leg. Also, the filly had a cut injury on the right hind. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, PRETTY ANGEL was trotted and found to be sound.
RACE NO.8(50) – THE TRUE ELEGANCE PLATE (DIV.I) : (About) 1200 Metres – 12 Runners
At the start, BLITZKRIEG (App.D.R.Shubham, dr.3) jumped outwards on to BAY OF LOVE (G.Amit, dr.4).
On a complaint from Trainer Sangramsinh N.Joshi, an enquiry has been initiated into riding of Jockey K.Nazil on OSPREY ARROW and a report will be submitted shortly.
After the race, BRAVE was trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 1st, 3rd, 6th and 7th race, viz. XOXO, PERFECT STAR, ASTRAL FLARE and ABERLOUR, were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

Trainer Bezan Chenoy has been fined Rs.1,000/- by the Stipendiary Stewards for failing to produce his charge QUAIL HOLLOW to the Horse Weighing Scale for recording of its weight prior to the race.
