MUMBAI MEETING 2017/18, EXTRA RACE DAY, SATURDAY, 21st APRIL, 2018.

(EVENING RACING)

 RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED 5 METRES AWAY FROM  ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 8 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES, 10 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 11 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND THEREAFTER 13 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST.  FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED AT ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 5 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 10 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

 

RACE NO.1(291) –THE CHATTERBOX PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 6 

 

At the request of Trainer Shazaan Shah, THEOBROMA was examined at 1100 hours on 21/04/2018 and was found to have developed left jugular vein phlebitis. As such, the filly was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The Trainer is required to obtain a fitness certificate for the filly from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting with her to race.

 

POCO AZUL (R. Shelar) jumped out slow losing about 2 lengths at the start.

 

After the race, ANGELS HARMONY was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(292) – THE  TOPSPIN PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners – 6

 

At the start, STRONG STORM (S. Zervan, dr. 2) jumped inwards and went across BOOMERANG (S. A. Amit, dr. 1) who was marginally slow to begin.

 

After the race, Jockey A. Sandesh (BARACK) reported that his mount hung out in the straight. Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the colt.

 

After the race, Jockey Dashrath Singh (MOUNT OLYMPUS) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, BARACK and STRONG STORM were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3(293) –THE HYDERABAD RACE CLUB TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners – 5

 

After the race, Jockey A. Sandesh (YANNA RASCALA) reported that his mount was uncomfortable in the straight and was not striding out as such he had eased up in the last furlong.

 

The Sr. V.O. reported that at the request of the Trainer, YANNA RASCALA was scoped at the Equine Hospital after the race and no abnormality was detected.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of YANNA RACSALA (A. Sandesh) and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, YANNA RASCALA and FRIVOLOUS were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4(294) –THE DONNA BELLA PLATE : (About) 1000 Metres–Runners - 8

 

DANCE OF FIRE (J. Chinoy) jumped out slow losing about 6 lengths at the start. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Soon after the start, BEWITCHED (App. Vishal N. Bunde) shifted in and went across SUERTE (Shrikant Kamble) who had to be steadied. App. Vishal N. Bunde has been cautioned.

 

After the race App. Vishal N. Bunde (BEWITCHED) reported that passing the 400 metres, in his effort to pull his horse out his reins slipped and he had to gather the same, due to this he almost lost his whip.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of BEWITCHED (App. Vishal N. Bunde) and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, ABRAXAS, BEWITCHED and SPARKLING THEA were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(295) –THE AFRICAAN PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres–Runners - 7

 

At the start, JIMBO (S. A. Amit, dr. 5) jumped outwards on to THE CIVILIAN (App. Vishal N. Bunde, dr. 6) who in turn shifted out and made contact with GOD’S OWN (Raghuveer Singh, dr. 7).

 

After the race, Jockey Raghuveer Singh (GOD’S OWN) reported that passing the 400 metres his mount felt uncomfortable as such he had momentarily steadied the same.

 

After the race, THE CIVILIAN was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, GOD’S OWN, THE CIVILIAN, COLLEGIUM, JIMBO and CEZANNE were trotted and found to be sound. JIMBO had a cut injury at the right hind hock.

 

RACE NO.6(296) –THE MULTI FLORA PLATE : (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 9

 

On arrival at the start, DEMOCRAT (R. Ajinkya) was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and found to be sore by the right fore leg. As such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on veterinary grounds before coming under the Starter’s Order. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

GOLDEN ECLIPSE (App. Vishal N. Bunde) and RAIN DANCE (App. D. R. Shubham) jumped out slow losing about 2 lengths each at the start.

 

The saddle used on GOOD THING (Deep Shanker) was observed to have slipped during the race. Trainer C. Rajendra has been fined Rs.2000/- for the faulty saddling of his charge.

 

After the race, KNIGHT’S QUEST was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

The Sr.V.O. reported that at the request of the Trainer,  GOOD THING was scoped at the Equine Hospital after the race and found to be EIPH (Gr.3). Being a second time bleeder, the mare is not to race for the stipulated period of eight weeks and has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, GOOD THING and GREY FLANNEL were trotted and found to be sound. GOOD THING had a cut injury at the right hind pastern.

The urine samples of the winner of the 1st, 4th and 5th race, viz. FLOWER DUST, ROYAL BLOOD and BUNTING, and the special sample of THEOBRAMA (Withdrawn – 1st race), BARACK (2nd race), YANNA RASCALA (3rd race) and SPARKLING THEA (4th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
