 RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED 6 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1200 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 9 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 11 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND THEREAFTER 13 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED AT ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 5 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 9 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

RACE NO.1(171) –THE EMPERADO PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 6 

 

At the request of Jockey Nirmal Jodha, the saddle on his mount DRAGONMOSS was adjusted on arrival at the start.

 

At the start, SCION (B. Nikhil, dr.5) jumped outwards and carried DRAGONMOSS (Nirmal Jodha, dr. 6) outwards.

 

Approaching 400 metres, HONOURABLE EYES (P. Trevor) shifted in thereby tightening PRETTY ANGEL (Bhawani Singh) forcing the latter to be checked and change course. Jockey P. Trevor has been cautioned.

 

Passing 400 metres, MASSIMO (David Probert) shifted out and carried SUMAAQ (C. S. Jodha) and DRAGONMOSS (Nirmal Jodha) outwards. Thereafter, passing 300 metres, MASSIMO shifted in thereby inconveniencing HONOURABLE EYES (P. Trevor) who had to steadied.

 

After the race, HONOURABLE EYES and MASSIMO were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(172) – THE SIR CHARLES FORBES TROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 5

 

At the start, CHARGING TIGRESS (App. S. A. Amit, dr. 2) jumped outwards on to EXCELLENT GOLD (Dashrath Singh, dr. 3).

 

After the race, EXCELLENT GOLD and UNDISPUTED were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3(173) –THE TRANCE PLATE : (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 7 

 

At the start, LOIRE (Dashrath Singh, dr. 4) jumped outwards on to MISS MONEYPENNY (App. H. Zeeshan, dr.5) and thereafter shifted in on to GLORIOUS LAND (Neeraj Rawal, dr. 3).

 

Approaching 200 metres, GLORIOUS LAND (Neeraj Rawal) shifted out on to MISS MONEYPENNY (App. H. Zeeshan). Thereafter, ASCENSION (App. R. Ajinkya) shifted out and carried GLORIOUS LAND (Neeraj Rawal) outwards and at the same time LOIRE (Dashrath Singh) shifted in thereby tightening and inconveniencing MISS MONEYPENNY (App. H. Zeeshan), forcing the latter to be checked. On being questioned after the race, App. R. Ajinkya stated that his mount hung out despite his efforts. Trainer S. K. Sunderji has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, ASCENSION, GLORIOUS LAND and GLORIOUS ANGEL were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4(174) –THE  M.D.MEHTA TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres–Runners - 7

 

On arrival at the start, CLARK KENT (S. Mosin) was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was certified fit to race.

 

Passing 450 metres, DARING EAGLE (Bhawani Singh) was observed to have drifted out and raced on the extreme outside. After the race, Jockey Bhawani Singh reported that his mount hung out despite his efforts. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Passing 300 metres, GODSWORD (J. Chinoy) shifted in thereby inconveniencing WHITEWALKER (P. Trevor) who had to be steadied. Jockey J. Chinoy has been cautioned.

 

Passing 200 metres, CLARK KENT (S. Mosin) shifted in thereby tightening BUDDYHOLLY (P. S. Chouhan) and WHITEWALKER (P. Trevor) who had to be checked. On being questioned after the race, Jockey S. Mosin stated that his mount was running green and shied away from the whip. Not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey S. Mosin, he has been cautioned.

 

After the race, CLARK KENT was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(175) – THE ICE MAGIC PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres –Runners- 9 

 

THEOBROMA (App. M. Ayyar) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Shazaan Shah has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Soon after the start, ROYAL ACE (C. S. Jodha) shifted in under urgings and clipped the heels of ALYATIES (App. H. Zeeshan) and stumbled, as a result, HUZZAH’S PHOENIX (J. Chinoy) who was racing on its outside, was inconvenienced and had to be steadied.

 

After the race, Jockey Dashrath Singh (STORM STAR) reported that his mount was running green.

 

After the race, RIDGEWOOD STAR, ROYAL ACE and STORM STAR were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6(176) –THE SECRET ROMEO PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 11

 

On arrival at the start, SILVER RIVER (S. Joseph) was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and found to be sore by the left fore leg. As such, the mare was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on veterinary grounds before coming under the Starter’s order. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

On arrival at the start, HUDSON (P. S. Chouhan) was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and was certified fit to race.

 

At the start, IMPERIAL BEAUTY (Bhawani Singh, dr.6) and HUDSON (P. S. Chouhan, dr.7) jumped outwards on to SHAKIN STEVENS (Mansoor Khan, dr. 8).

 

Soon after the start, SHAKIN STEVENS (Mansoor Khan) shifted out thereby inconveniencing SWEEP ASIDE (B. Nikhil). Thereafter, TIME OF MY LIFE (App. H. Zeeshan) shifted in on to SHAKIN STEVENS (Mansoor Khan) who in turn shifted in thereby inconveniencing WINDFALL (App. S. A. Amit). Jockey Mansoor Khan and App. H. Zeeshan have been cautioned.

 

Passing the 150 metres, XOXO (T. S. Jodha) was observed to have hung out. In view of the same, Trainer S. S. Shah has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, Jockey B. Nikhil (SWEEP ASIDE) reported that his mount hung in throughout the race. Trainer Arif Patel has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the mare.

 

After the race, IMPERIAL BEAUTY was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, WINDFALL was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7(177) –THE  ICE MAGIC PLATE (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres–Runners- 10

 

AME (T. S. Jodha) took a fly jump and HARRIER (A. Sandesh) jumped out slow losing about 2 lengths at the start.

 

Passing 550 metres, RARE SILVER (C. S. Jodha) was observed to have taken an awkward stride, as a result stumbled and dropped back thereby inconveniencing AME (T. S. Jodha) who had to be steadied.

 

In the final stages of the race, LORD COMMANDER (P. S. Chouhan) shifted out under urgings and at the same time LILAC TIME (Dashrath Singh) shifted in, due to which MAN OF WORD (P. Trevor) who was racing between them, was tightened and had to be checked. On being questioned after the race, Jockey Dasharath Singh stated that his mount hung in despite his efforts. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the mare. Further, Jockey P. S. Chouhan was also questioned  and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him, he has been fined Rs.3,000/- for failing to change his whip hand despite his mount drifting out.

 

After the race, LORD COMMANDER, ARSENAL, MAN OF WORD, HARRIER, LILAC TIME, ROYSTON ROCK and RARE SILVER (examined on 16/02/2018) were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8(178) – THE SECRET ROMEO PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 11 

 

Jockey J. Chinoy (EMPIRE STATE) reported sick after having weighed out and subsequently the Stewards permitted Jockey Bhawani Singh to be declared on EMPIRE STATE in place of Jockey J. Chinoy. In the meantime, EMPIRE STATE was saddled and was led to the starting gates with the wrong saddle of Jockey J. Chinoy. Considering that it would cause inordinate delay to recall the horse and re-saddle him, EMPIRE STATE was permitted to be withdrawn from this race.

 

COMMANDPERFORMANCE (S. J. Sunil) jumped out slow losing about 2 lengths at the start.

 

At the start, ISINIT (App. H. Zeeshan, dr.7) jumped outwards and at the same time MILWALKEE (App. K. Nazil, dr.9) jumped inwards thereby tightening WILDCARD WARRIOR (App. D. R. Shubham, dr.8).

 

GOLDEN HORDE (Santosh G.) was inclined to run out from the 300 metres. Thereafter, approaching 200 metres GOLDEN HORDE shifted out under urgings and carried SYNCHRONICITY (Amyn Merchan) outwards. After questioning Jockey Santosh G. and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him, he has been fined Rs.2,000/-. Further, Trainer Bezan Chenoy has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Passing 200 metres, MONTECASINO (P. S. Chouhan) was observed to have drifted out under pressure. After the race, Jockey P. S. Chouhan reported that his mount hung out in the straight despite his efforts. Trainer M. Narredu has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, MONTECASINO, FOREVER FREE, SYNCHRONICITY, GOLDEN HORDE, ISINIT and WILDCARD WARRIOR were trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 4th, 5th, 7th and 8th race, viz. GODSWORD, ALYATIES, LILAC TIME and MONTECASINO, were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : APPEAL FROM TRAINER ALTAF HUSSAIN IN RESPECT OF THE FINE OF RS.20,000/- IMPOSED ON HIM BY THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS – ENQUIRY INTO THE POOR PERFORMANCE OF “DIVINE SOLITAIRE” IN RACE NO.196 – THE SHAMU CHAVAN TROPHY (DIV.I) RUN ON 29th OCTOBER, 2017 WHERE HE WAS UNPLACED VIS-À-VIS HIS EARLIER STARTS IN RACE NO.23 AND 70 AT PUNE AS ALSO HIS SUBSEQUENT WINNING RACE AT MUMBAI IN RACE NO.27.

 

The Board of Appeal at its meeting held on 6th February, 2018 considered Appeal dated 10th January, 2018 from Trainer Altaf Hussain in the above connection.

 

The Board of Appeal having considered all documents and papers that were submitted including Trainer Altaf Hussain’s Grounds of Appeal and having heard the submissions made by Trainer Altaf Hussain and his Spokesman, Dr. Nevill Devlaliwalla, deliberated on the matter at length and having applied their minds, decided to reject the appeal and forfeit the deposit. Accordingly, the decision of the Stewards of the Club stands.

RE : MERCY PETITION FROM MR. VISHAL BUNDE IN RESPECT OF SUSPENSION OF HIS JOCKEY’S LICENCE TILL THE END OF THE MUMBAI MEETING 2017/18 FOR BEING GUILTY OF GROSS MISCONDUCT IN THE PREMISES OF THE RACE COURSE:

 

The Board of Appeal at its meeting held on 6th February, 2018 considered Mercy Petition dated 15th January, 2018 from Mr. Vishal Bunde in the above connection and heard the submissions made by his Spokesman, Mr. Neeraj Rawal.

 

The Board of Appeal having deliberated on the matter at length and having applied their minds, decided to modify his punishment as under :-

 

a)       He will be permitted to ride work from 1st March, 2018;

b)       He will be permitted to start riding in races from 1st April, 2018. However, the period of his punishment from 1st April, 2018 to 15th April, 2018 i.e. a period of 15 days would be a suspended sentence over the next three years i.e. if he was found guilty of any similar offence within the next three years commencing from 1st April, 2018, then the suspended sentence would immediately come into force and effect in addition to any other punishment which the Stewards may impose on him.
