MUMBAI MEETING 2017/18, FIFTEENTH DAY, SUNDAY, 14th JANUARY, 2018.

 RACE DAY REPORTS

 

(EVENING RACING)

 

RAILS WERE PLACED 3 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE) TO 1200 METRES , 4 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 5 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND  THEREAFTER 6 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED AT ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1200 METRES LEADING TO 4 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

 

On a request from Trainer S. Ganapathy, permission was granted to Trainer Karthik Ganapathy to saddle his charge ALBEMARIE in the 3rd race, at his (Trainer S. Ganapathy’s) risk and responsibility.

On a request from Trainer P. Shroff, permission was granted to Trainer Vishal Gaikwad to saddle his charges KIPLING (3rd race), ADONIJAH (4th race) and ACCOLADE, COSTA DEL SOL & YOUR ROYAL MAJESTY (5th race), at his (Trainer P. Shroff’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(116) –THE WARSAW PACT PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners - 11 

 

Passing 450 metres, SPARKLING THEA (S. J. Sunil) shifted out thereby inconveniencing MONTECASINO (P. S. Chouhan). Jockey S. J. Sunil has been cautioned.

 

After the race, Jockey Bhawani Singh (EMPIRE STATE) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight. Trainer Narender Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, Jockey T. S. Jodha (TILL END OF TIME) reported that passing the 400 metres his mount took an awkward stride and leaned inwards and had to be steadied.

 

After the race EMPIRE STATE and MONTECASINO were found to be sore by the right fore leg and left fore leg respectively. Both the horses have to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, TILL END OF TIME was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(117) – THE RAMNIWAS RAMNARAIN RUIA GOLD CUP (GR.2): (About) 2000 Metres – Runners - 3

 

After the race, GRAND PASSAGE was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3(118) –THE AHMED I.RAHIMTOOLA TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners- 10 

 

On the way to the start, KIPLING (Neeraj Rawal) dislodged the rider and bolted. As per the norms, Trainer Vishal Gaikwad who was deputizing for Trainer P. Shroff, was contacted and with his due consent, KIPLING was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order.

 

After being stalled, JULIO CESARO (Dashrath Singh) played up in the stall. The gelding was taken out and examined by the Club’s V.O. who certified him fit to race. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race. 

 

At the start, DARING EAGLE (Bhawani Singh, dr. 3) jumped outwards and went across IMPALA (T. S. Jodha, dr. 4)  on to CORMORANT (S. Zervan, dr. 5), who in turn shifted out on to ICONIA (C. S. Jodha, dr. 7). After the race, Jockey Bhawani Singh reported that his mount was running green throughout the race.

 

At the start, BUDDYHOLLY (Yash Narredu, dr. 8) jumped inwards and went across ICONIA (C. S. Jodha dr. 7) who was marginally slow to begin.

 

Approaching 600 metres, SHAPATH (R. Ajinkya) shifted in thereby tightening IMPALA (T. S. Jodha) along the rails.

 

Approaching 600 metres, CORMORANT (S. Zervan) who was racing between JULIO CESARO (Dashrath Singh) and ICONIA (C. S. Jodha) was tightened for room and had to be steadied.

 

Passing 600 metres, ICONIA (C. S. Jodha) shifted in and went across CORMORANT (S. Zervan) forcing the latter to be checked and change course. Jockey C. S. Jodha has been cautioned.

 

Passing 150 metres, JULIO CESARO (Dashrath Singh) shifted out on to ICONIA (C. S. Jodha) who had to be steadied. After the race, Jockey Dashrath Singh reported that his mount was inclined to run out in the straight despite his efforts. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, Jockey S. Zervan (CORMORANT) reported that his mount hung out in the straight. Trainer Faisal A. Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, CORMORANT, DARING EAGLE, JULIO CESARO and ICONIA were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4(119)–THE  MAHARASHTRA, GUJARAT & GOA AREA TROPHY:(About) 2000 Metres–Runners- 12 

 

RITZ (App. Raghuveer Singh) jumped out slow, losing considerable ground at the start. Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to give the mare more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Passing 600 metres, TORREZZO (App. K. Nazil) shifted in thereby tightening FANTASIA (Neeraj Rawal) along the rails. App. K. Nazil has been cautioned.

 

Passing 250 metres, KIMBERELLA (S. Zervan) shifted out under pressure and went across TORREZZO (App. K. Nazil) on to CISTICOLA (App. H. Zeeshan), who in turn shifted out thereby tightening FANTASIA (Neeraj Rawal). Jockey S. Zervan has been fined Rs.1,000/-.

 

After the race, ADONIJAH and TORREZZO were trotted and found to be sound. ITS A DEAL was observed to have lost its left hind shoe.

 

RACE NO.5(120) – THE DARASHAW MILLION (GR.3): (About) 1400 Metres –Runners- 12 

 

On a request from Trainer Rehanullah Khan, permission was granted for his Jockey P. S. Chouhan to carry 3 kg. overweight on CHAMPAGNE.

 

On a request from Trainer Dallas Todywalla, permission was granted for his Jockey David Allan to carry 2.5 kg. overweight on RUFFINA.

 

On a request from Trainer Bezan Chenoy, permission was granted for his Jockey C. Alford to carry 3.5 kg. overweight on ST. ANDREWS..

 

After being stalled, COSTA DEL SOL (Dashrath Singh) rushed the front gates. The horse was taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. who certified him fit to race. NEW ENGLAND (C. S. Jodha) who was in the adjoining stall also got restless, as such, the gelding was taken out and re-stalled. 

 

LUCAS (S. Zervan) jumped out slow, losing about 2 lengths at the start.

 

At the start, ST. ANDREWS (C. Alford, dr. 9) jumped inwards and went across COSTA DEL SOL (Dashrath Singh, dr.8) who was marginally slow to begin.

 

Passing 200 metres, YOUR ROYAL MAJESTY (Neeraj Rawal) shifted in on to SHIP ROCK (N. S. Parmar) forcing it inwards, on to which CELTIC PRINCE (S. J. Sunil) was tightened along the rails and lost its footing and dropped back on to DANCING PRANCES (T. S. Jodha) who had to be checked. On being questioned after the race, Jockey Neeraj Rawal stated that his mount suddenly leaned inwards not giving him sufficient time to correct his mount . As the same was borne out in the video recording, no action was initiated other than noting the explanation.

 

In the final stages of the race, ST. ANDREWS (C. Alford) drifted out under pressure thereby carrying ACCOLADE (P. Trevor) and LUCAS (S. Zervan) outwards. Jockey C. Alford has been cautioned.

 

After the race, DANCING PRANCES, YOUR ROYAL MAJESTY (examined on 15/01/2018) and ST. ANDREWS (examined on 15/01/2018) were trotted and found to be sound. YOUR ROYAL MAJESTY had an abrasion at both the hind fetlock and ST. ANDREWS had a cut injury at the right hind cannon.

 

RACE NO.6(121) – THE SIR H.M.MEHTA TROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 14

 

At the request of Jockeys S. Zervan and Nirmal Jodha, the saddle on their respective mount MISS MONEYPENNY and BOUNTY QUEEN were adjusted.

 

At the start, ELYSEE (P. Trevor, dr. 5) jumped outwards and at the same time CEZANNE (J. E. Pereira, dr.7) jumped inwards thereby tightening MOONSHINE (Neeraj Rawal dr. 6). Also, DEMOCRAT (C. S. Jodha, dr. 8) was observed to have taken a fly jump and thereafter shifted inwards tightening CEZANNE (J. E. Pereira, dr. 7).

 

Passing 700 metres, ADELINE (Dashrath Singh) shifted out on to DEMOCRAT (C. S. Jodha), who in turn shifted out thereby forcing ELYSEE (P. Trevor) to be checked. Jockey Dashrath Singh has been fined Rs.1,000/-.

 

After the race, Jockey P. Trevor (ELYSEE) reported that at the start his mount was inclined to run out and had to be steadied due to which he was unable to follow his riding instructions. He further stated that he could not ride out his mount to complete advantage in the straight as he was denied a clear passage.

 

After the race, BENEZEER was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, LADY SERGEANT was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, VISTANA and FLAG FLYING were trotted and found to be sound. MISS MONEYPENNY was observed to have lost both her fore shoes.

 

RACE NO.7(122) – THE YAWAR RASHID TROPHY (DIV.II) : (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 11 

 

SASSY LASS (Dashrath Singh) jumped out slow, losing about 2 lengths at the start.

 

At the start, ALSACE (R. Shelar, dr.7) jumped outwards on to EBONY (Neeraj Rawal dr.8).

 

Passing 350 metres, IN IT TO WIN IT (App. D. S. Daman) shifted out thereby inconveniencing KOMODO DRAGON (App. K. Nazil) who had to be steadied.

 

Passing 250 metres, NIGHTFALL (Amyn Merchant) shifted in on to IN IT TO WIN IT (App. D. S. Daman), who in turn shifted in thereby tightening ALSACE (R. Shelar) along the rails. After questioning, Jockey Amyn Merchant has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

After the race, Jockey Dashrath Singh (SASSY LASS) reported that the saddle used on his mount had slipped during the race. As such, Trainer Asad Siddiqui has been fined Rs. 2,000/- for the faulty saddling of his charge.

 

After the race, STRONG VALUES was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, DIVINE MAGIC, NIGHTFALL and ALSACE were trotted and found to be sound. EBONY had a gum injury.

 

RACE NO.8(123) – THE YAWAR RASHID TROPHY (DIV.I) : (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 11 

 

After being stalled, CUPIDO (Amyn Merchant) played up in the stall. The gelding was taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. who certified him fit to race. Trainer Faisal A. Abbas has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, CUPIDO (Amyn Merchant, dr. 6) jumped outwards on to QUEEN RIA (App. H. Zeeshan, dr. 7).

 

Passing 200 metres, ELIXIR (Neeraj Rawal) shifted in on to ROTTERDAM (P. Trevor) and was steadied

 

In the final stages of the race, MAN OF WORD (App. Parbat Singh) was observed to have shifted out under pressure.    

 

The Sr. V.O. reported that after returning from the race, QUEEN RIA showed signs of distress. After cold water hosing and First Aid treatment the mare recovered. The mare was kept under observation and sent to the stables after recovery.

 

After the race, AURODEN, MONEYWISE and ARABIAN STORM were trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 8th race, viz. ROCHESTER, DIVINE POWER, SAGITTARIUS, RUFFINA and ELIXIR, as also that of CASTLEBRIDGE (2nd race) and SUPREME GENERAL (5th race), and the special sample of LADY SERGEANT (6th race),  were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
