(EVENING RACING)

 

RAILS WERE PLACED 4 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1200 METRES (MILE CHUTE) LEADING TO 6 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES, 8 METRES AWAY AT 800 METRES AND THEREAFTER 9 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED AT ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 3 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES  AND 6 METRES AWAY AT 1000 METRES.

RACE NO.1(108) –THE GENERAL OBAIDULLAH KHAN TROPHY: (About) 2400 Metres – Runners - 4 

 

Jockey A. Imran Khan (VULCAN) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his second offence, he has been fined Rs.5,000/-. Further, he has been fined Rs.1,000/- for improper use of the whip on his mount.

 

Jockey P. Trevor (BIG SUR) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

After the race, FRIVOLOUS and BIG SUR were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(109) – THE TIGER TOPS PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres – Runners - 6

 

ELEGANT BEAUTY (Yash Narredu) jumped out slow losing about 5 lengths at the start. Trainer M. Narredu has been asked to give the mare more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Passing 800 metres, VICE ADMIRAL (App. Shahrukh Khan) shifted in and went across ETERNALINSPIRATION (A. Imran Khan) who had to be checked. App. Shahrukh Khan has been cautioned.

 

After the race, Jockey Yash Narredu (ELEGANT BEAUTY) reported that soon after the start his reins slipped and he had to gather the same.

 

After the race, GRANDE VITESSE was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

RACE NO.3(110) –THE ASSERT THE RIGHT PLATE:(About) 1200 Metres – Runners- 8 

 

At the request of Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait, GOLD MAGIC was examined at 1000 hours on 10/01/2018 and found to have fever, as such, the colt was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds.  The Trainer is required to obtain a fitness certificate for the colt from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting with him to race.

 

After the race, Jockey Suraj Narredu (PIONEER) reported that his mount was running green throughout the race.

 

After the race, OOMPH was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.4(111) – THE  PERCEIVED VALUE PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres –Runners- 14 

 

KISS FROM A ROSE (App. Raghuveer Singh) was restless in the stall and not allowing the rider to settle. Trainer S. Waheed has been asked to give the mare more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, JEENA (App. S. J. Sunil, dr. 7) jumped outwards on to GANDALF (App. K. Nazil, dr. 8), who in turn shifted out on to FABERGE (Bhawani Singh, dr. 9) forcing him on to GRAND ACCORD (A. Imran Khan, dr.11) who had to be steadied.

 

Approaching 600 metres, GRAND ACCORD (A. Imran Khan) shifted in thereby tightening FABERGE (Bhawani Singh) along the rails forcing the latter to be checked. The Stipendiary Stewards would be looking into this incident and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

Passing 250 metres, JEENA (App. S. J. Sunil) shifted out thereby tightening WABI SABI (App. S. A. Amit). Thereafter, GRAND ACCORD (A. Imran Khan) shifted out due to which JEENA (S. J. Sunil) shied outwards causing

 

WABI SABI (App. S. A. Amit) to clip the former and stumble dislodging its rider. The Stipendiary Stewards would be looking into this incident and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, BISHOP OF DERRY was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, MARVEL was observed to have a cut injury at the left hind bulb of heel.

 

RACE NO.5(112) – THE RAO SAHEB D.K.PARKAR TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres –Runners- 10 

 

After being stalled, ANGELS HARMONY (B. Nikhil) played up in the stall. The filly was taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. who certified her fit to race. Trainer Altaf Hussain has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Trainer Sanjay Kolse has been fined 2,000/- for declaring incorrect shoeing on his charge MANZANITA wherein the filly was declared to run with plain Aluminium shoes on all four legs but ran with High Heel Aluminium shoes on both hind legs.

 

At the start, DAKOTA (App. M. Ayyar, dr. 6) jumped outwards and at the same time HUZZAH’S PHOENIX (J. E. Pereira, dr. 8) jumped inwards thereby tightening RAIN DANCE (App. D. R. Shubham, dr. 7).

 

Passing 700 metres, GOLD FIELD (App. D. S. Daman) shifted inwards and went across DAKOTA (App. M. Ayyar) forcing the latter to be checked and change course and in doing so carried MANZANITA (S. Zervan) and CRYSTAL BALL (T. S. Jodha) outwards. Having questioned App. D. S. Daman and not being satisfied with his explanation, he has been suspended for one Race Day i.e. 3rd February 2018 for careless riding (permitted to ride work/mock race).

 

After the race, Jockey B. Nikhil (ANGELS HARMONY) reported that his mount hung out throughout the race. Trainer Altaf Hussain has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

Jockey D. S. Daman (GOLD FIELD) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

After the race, CRYSTAL BALL, CHECKMATE and ANGELS HARMONY were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.6(113) – THE INDIAN AIR FORCE TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 15

 

JARAMA (R. Ajinkya) stalled in the gates and took no part in the race. Since the mare had behaved in a similar manner in its previous start, Trainer S. Waheed has been asked to take remedial measures and show the mare to the satisfaction of the Starter in a Mock Race before next accepting to race.  

At the start, JUGGERNAUT (T. S. Jodha, dr. 8) jumped inwards on to DOUBLE NINE (A. Imran Khan, dr.7), who in turn shifted in thereby inconveniencing WISE CHILD (S. J. Sunil, dr.6.) who had to be steadied.

 

Passing 700 metres, INVICTUS MANEO (Dashrath Singh) shifted out thereby starting a chain reaction due to which FRINGE BENEFIT (App. H. Zeeshan), CRACKLIN’ ROSIE (Amyn Merchant) and ALPINE EXPRESS (App. M. Ayyar) were inconvenienced and had to be steadied. Jockey Dashrath Singh has been cautioned.

 

After the race, Jockey P. Trevor (ORACLE) reported that his mount was inclined to run out throughout the race. Trainer Nazak Chenoy has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

RACE NO.7(114) – THE APRIL BLOSSOM PLATE : (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 9 

 

At the request of Trainer Arif Patel, SWEEP ASIDE was examined at 1220 hours on 11/01/2018 and found to have swelling on both fore cannon (medial side). As such, the mare was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds.  The Trainer is required to obtain a fitness certificate for the mare from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting with her to race.

 

At the request of Jockey P. Trevor, the saddle on its mount EPIPHANY was adjusted on arrival at the Starting Gates.

 

CLOUDBURST (App. N. B. Kuldeep) jumped out slow, losing about a length at the start.

 

At the start, WESTERN LIGHTS (App. K. Nazil, dr. 9) jumped inwards and made contact with SMOKY HAZE (Nirmal Jodha, dr. 8).

 

Passing 600 metres, NIGHT FURY (Bhawani shingh) shifted out and carried SKYSURFER (App. Raghuveer Singh) outwards. After the race, Jockey Bhawani Singh reported that his mount hung out despite his efforts. Trainer Karthik Ganapathy has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

RACE NO.8(115) – THE RAO SAHEB D.K.PARKAR TROPHY (DIV.I) : (About) 1200 Metres – Runners - 11 

 

At the request of Jockey Neeraj Rawal, the saddle on its mount PHILADELPHIA was adjusted on arrival at the Starting Gates.

 

At the start, KNIGHT’S QUEST (Dashrath Singh, dr.10) jumped inwards on to SMART CHOICE (Amyn Merchant, dr.9) who had to be steadied.

 

Soon after the start, CHARMING (S. Sunil) shifted in on to KNIGHT’S QUEST (Dashrath Singh), who in turn shifted in thereby inconveniencing ROOSEVELT (David Probert) who had to be steadied. Jockey S. Sunil has been cautioned.

 

Approaching the 600 metres, CHARMING (S. Sunil) was inclined to run out and upon turning for home, carried SMART CHOICE (Amyn Merchant) outwards. After the race, Jockey S. Sunil reported that his mount hung out passing the 800 metres. As such, Trainer Nosher Cama has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the mare.

 

Passing 250 meters, PHILADELPHIA (Neeraj Rawal) shifted out under pressure on to ROOSEVELT (David Probert).  Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been cautioned.

 

After the race, KNIGHT’S QUEST was found to be sore by the left fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, CHARMING was trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 3rd, 5th, 7th and 8th race, viz. PIONEER, GOLD FIELD, POLYNEICES and ROOSEVELT, and the special sample of BISHOP OF DERRY (4th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

ERATUM :

 

RACE NO.88 –THE VALLABHDAS H. ADWALIA TROPHY RUN ON 28th DECEMBER, 2017 :

 

On a report from the Club’s Sr. V.O. that the bandages entry in respect of BAKHTAWAR was missed out inadvertently, the fine of Rs.1,000/- imposed on Trainer Arif Patel for racing his charge BAKHTAWAR with bandages on both fore legs in the above race, was rescinded.

SUB : ENQUIRY INTO THE IMPROVED PERFORMANCE OF “BEE QUIRKY” (APP.K. NAZIL) IN RACE NO.47 - THE BEAUTIFUL STRANGER PLATE (DIV.II) (1000 METRES) - RUN ON 14th DECEMBER, 2017 WHICH THE FILLY WON AS COMPARED TO HER PREVIOUS RUN IN RACE NO.28 - THE SONALIKA PLATE (DIV.I) (1200 METRES) RUN ON 30th NOVEMBER, 2017, RIDDEN BY JOCKEY NEERAJ RAWAL, WHERE THE FILLY WAS UNPLACED:

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Thursday, 11th January, 2018 interviewed Trainer H. J. Antia and Jockey Neeraj Rawal in the above connection and having considered all the submissions made by them and having viewed the video recording of Race No.28 and Race No.47 run during the current Mumbai Meeting as also Race No.145 and Race No.187 run during the Pune Meeting 2017, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Tr. H. J. Antia and held him guilty of breach of the Calendar Notification regarding improved performance of horses in a short span of time. The Stewards noted that BEE QUIRKY had shown vast improvement of more than 15 lengths vis-à-vis the two common horses WHOOPSIDAISY and STARR VERDICT in a short span of 14 days. The Stewards also noted that this was Tr. H. J. Antia’s fifth offence of a similar nature in the last 3 years and on the last occasion he had been fined a sum of Rs.50,000/- for the improved performance of his charge FLAG FLYING.

 

In view of the above and keeping all circumstances of this case in mind and this being his fifth offence of a similar nature in the past 3 years, the Stewards of the Club decided to fine him a sum of Rs.1,00,000/- for the improved performance of BEE QUIRKY in Race No.47 run on 14th December, 2017 which the filly won as compared to her previous run in Race No.28 run on 30th November, 2017 where she was unplaced. Further, he was severely cautioned for the future.

SUB : ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “BOHEMIAN” IN RACE NO.47 - THE BEAUTIFUL STRANGER PLATE (DIV.II) (1000 METRES) - RUN ON 14th DECEMBER, 2017 :

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on 11th January, 2018 interviewed Trainer H.J.Antia and App.Raghuveer Singh in the above connection and having considered the submissions made by them, having viewed the video recording of Race No.47 and having deliberated the matter at length, decided to give Apprentice Raghuveer Singh the benefit of the doubt in this case.

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on 11th January, 2018 interviewed Trainer Subhag Singh and Jockey T. S. Jodha in the above connection and having considered the submissions made by them, having viewed the video recording of Race No.45 and having deliberated the matter at length, decided to give Jockey T. S. Jodha the benefit of the doubt in this case.

RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “TURNING POINT” IN RACE NO.76 – THE BOURBON KING PLATE RUN ON 22nd DECEMBER, 2017 :

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on 11th January, 2018 interviewed Trainer S. K. Sunderji and Jockey P. Trevor, in the above connection and having considered all the submissions made by them and having viewed the video recording of Race No.76 as also the horse’s previous win in Race No.3 during the current Mumbai Meeting and having deliberated the matter at length, decided to give Jockey P. Trevor the benefit of the doubt in this case.
