RACE DAY REPORTS
RAILS
WERE PLACED 4 METRES AWAY FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT AT 1200 METRES CHUTE.
FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED 2 METRES AWAY
FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1500 METRES UP TO 1000 METRES.
On a request from Trainer Arif Patel, permission was granted to Tr.Rehanullah
Khan to saddle his charge BAKHTAWAR in the 1st race, at his own
(Trainer Arif Patel’s) risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1(170) - THE VINAYAK TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1400 Metres - 10 Runners
At the request of Trainer Narendra Lagad, LILAC TIME
was examined at 1030 hours on 13/10/2017 and was found to have swelling on the
abdomen. As such, the filly was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on
Veterinary grounds. The Trainer is required to obtain a fitness
certificate for the filly from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting with her
to race.
Jockey
T. S. Jodha was declared by Trainer Rehanullah Khan and Trainer Subhag
Singh on PATAGONIA and ROYAL ECLAIR respectively. After questioning all
concerned, Jockey T. S. Jodha was permitted to ride
ROYAL ECLAIR and Trainer Rehanullah Khan was
permitted to declare Jockey J. Chinoy on PATAGONIA.
The Stipendiary Stewards will be looking into the same and a report will be
submitted shortly.
Passing the 300 metres,
RAIN DANCE (App. S. A. Amit) shifted out thereby
tightening SYNCHRONICITY (Amyn Merchant) and ROYAL
ECLAIR (T. S. Jodha) forcing both to be checked.
After questioning, App. S. A. Amit has been
cautioned.
After the race, KNIGHT’S QUEST was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the
Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
After the race, RAIN DANCE (examined on 16/10/2017) and PILATUS were
trotted and found to be sound. RAIN DANCE had a cut injury at the left hind
pastern and BAKHTAWAR had a cut injury at the left hind fetlock.
RACE NO.2(171) - THE IGCC TROPHY: (About) 2400 Metres - 8 Runners
RITZ (J. Chinoy)
jumped out slow losing about 4 lengths at the start. Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to
give the mare more gate practice and to show her to the satisfaction of the Starter
at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
Approaching the 300 metres, KING OF KILLEN (S. J. Sunil) shifted out on to ITS
A DEAL (C. S. Jodha). Thereafter, passing the 200 metres KING OF KILLEN (S. J. Sunil) shifted out and at the same
time BABY FACE (Dashrath Singh) shifted in thereby
tightening ITS A DEAL (C. S. Jodha) who had to be
checked. After questioning both the Jockey’s and not being satisfied with the
explanation of Jockey Dashrath Singh, he has been
fined Rs.2,000/-.
The Sr. V.O.
reported that after returning from the race, KING OF KILLEN showed signs of
distress at the Saddling Enclosure. The gelding was hosed with cold water and
given first aid treatment after which he recovered and was sent to the stables.
RACE NO.3(172) – THE PUNE POLICE COMMISSIONER’S
TROPHY:
(About) 1600 Metres - 9 Runners
After being stalled, JUDICIOUS (Dashrath Singh) sat on its haunches. The mare was taken out
and examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. who certified her fit to race.
ELEGANT BEAUTY (App. S. A. Amit) jumped out slow losing about 4 lengths at the start.
Trainer M. Narredu has been asked to give the filly
more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning
starting trials, before next accepting to race.
Approaching the 300 metres, JUDICIOUS (Dashrath
Singh) shifted in thereby inconveniencing SUSSEX PRIDE (T. S. Jodha) who had to be checked and change course.
Approaching the 100 metres, ZANZIBAAR (S. John) shifted in and went across
SUSSEX PRIDE (T. S. Jodha) who had to be checked. On
questioning Jockey S. John stated that his mount hung in despite his efforts.
Trainer Nirad Karanjawala
has been asked to take remedial measures.
After
the race, BOUNTY QUEEN, TEXAS GOLD, ZANZIBAAR and JUDICIOUS (examined on
16/10/2017) were trotted and found to be sound. JUDICIOUS had right eye
opacity.
RACE NO.4(173) – THE JIMMY UMRIGAR TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres - 8 Runners
At the request of Trainer Asad Siddiqui, GANDALF was
examined at 1015 hours on 13/10/2017 and was found to have painful swelling
around the left fore fetlock. As such, the gelding
was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The
Trainer is required to obtain a fitness certificate for the gelding from the
Club’s V.O. before next accepting with her to race.
At the request of Trainer Nirad Karanjawala, HOPEILICIOUS
was examined at 0945 hours on 15/10/2017 and was found to have an injury at the
right hind cannon and was sore by the right hind leg. As such, the filly was
certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The filly
has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
At the start, CRAY CRAY
(App. S. A. Amit dr. 3) jumped outwards and made
contact with ASTRAL FLARE (A. Imran Khan, dr. 4).
Passing the 1000 metres,
ASTRAL FLARE (A. Imran Khan) shifted in thereby
tightening MINDING (Amyn Merchant) along the rails.
The
Sr. V.O. reported that ASTRAL FLARE was examined at the stables in the morning
on 16/10/2017 and was found to be sound in the trot.
RACE NO.5(174) – THE SIR SULTAN CHI8NOY TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres - 10 Runners
NEW ENGLAND (Y. S. Srinath)
was restless in the stall and thereafter, as the start was effected, the
gelding put his head down resulting in losing considerable ground at the start.
Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has
been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the
satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting
to race. The Stipendiary Stewards will be looking into the incident at the
start and will submit a report shortly.
An
objection was lodged by Jockey Dashrath Singh, the
rider of MAKINO (Placed Second) against MYGRATOR (P. S. Chouhan,
Placed First). The reason being 100 metres from the
post, as he raised his hand to whip his mount, Jockey P. S. Chouhan’s
whip came in contact with his own which caused him to lose his whip and thereby
a certain race.
After
considering the submissions made by Jockey Dashrath
Singh and Jockey P. S. Chouhan in conjunction with
that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgement,
the Stewards decided to over-rule the objection.
After the race, INCENTIO was found to be sore by the right fore leg. Also, the gelding had an abrasion at the
left hind fetlock. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before
next accepting to race.
After the race, NEW ENGLAND was observed to have an abrasion at the left
hind fetlock. ARTISTIC was found to be sound in the trot.
RACE NO.6(175) – THE NOSHIR & DOLLY DHUNJIBHOY
SPRINT MILLION (GR.3):
(About) 1200 Metres - 8 Runners
After the race, Jockey Suraj Narredu (HOLY SMOKE)
reported that his mount leaned in-in the final stages of the race. Trainer
Faisal A. Abbas has been asked to take remedial
measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
RACE NO.7(176) – THE KINGFISHER ULTRA PUNE DERBY
(GR.1):
(About) 2000 Metres– 14 Runners
AUBURN (C. Alford) and LADY IN LACE (Suraj Narredu) were reluctant to
be stalled. Trainers Vishal Gaikwad
and K. S. V. Prasad Raju have been asked to give
their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of
the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
Approaching the 1000 metres, LADY IN LACE (Suraj Narredu) shifted out on to THEMIS (Imran
Chisty) who in turn shifted out on to TIMELESS (Akshay Kumar). At the same time ZANARA (Y. S. Srinath) dropped back thereby causing TIMELESS (Akshay Kumar) to clip the heels of the latter as a result
dislodging its rider. The Stipendiary Stewards will be looking into the above
incident and a report will be submitted shortly.
After
the race, AUBURN was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind cannon.
KANGRA
(P. Trevor) was placed fifth and PURE ZINC (A. Imran
Khan) was placed sixth by the Judge, in this race.
RACE NO.8(177) - THE JIMMY UMRIGAR TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres - 10 Runners
DURHAM LAD (Yash
Narredu) was restless in the stall and not allowing
the rider to settle. Trainer Magansingh P. Jodha has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice
and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials,
before next accepting to race.
ALLESSANDRA (Bhawani
Singh) jumped out slow losing about 2 lengths at the start.
Soon after the start, CHAPLIN (J. Chinoy) shifted out on to MONTECASINO (P. S. Chouhan).
Approaching the 1000 metres, EPIPHANY (Santosh G.) was
observed to have stumbled
Passing the 1000 metres,
Jockey Bhawani Singh (ALLESSANDRA) was observed to
have pulled up and dismounted. After the race Jockey Bhawani
Singh reported that he had dismounted as the filly was lame.
Passing the 500 metres,
EPIPHANY (Santosh G.) shifted out thereby
inconveniencing DURHAM LAD (Yash Narredu).
Thereafter approaching the 200 metres, EPIPHANY (Santosh G.) drifted out on to OPTIMUM (App. S. A. Amit) who had to be steadied. On questioning, App. Santosh G. stated that his mount was shying away from the
railing and was running green. Trainer Nazak Chenoy has been asked to take remedial measures before next
accepting to race the filly.
The
Sr. V.O. reported that ALLESSANDRA slowed down at the 600 metres
and was pulled up by the rider. On examination, the filly was found to be
sore by the right hind leg and was sent to the Equine Hospital for further
investigation. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next
accepting to race.
The
Sr. V.O. reported that EPIPHANY and SASSY LASS were examined at the respective
stables in the morning on 16/10/2017 and were found to be sound in the trot.
RACE NO.9(178) - THE VINAYAK TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1400 Metres - 12 Runners
After being stalled, Jockey J. Chinoy (ORION’S BELT) and Jockey D. S. Daman (KODIAC QUEEN)
reported that their mounts were leaning in the stall. Both the horses were
taken out and were re-stalled. FLUTE PLAYER (Nirmal Jodha) jumped out slow losing about 4 lengths at the start.
Trainers Narendra Lagad, Magansingh P.Jodha and Subhag Singh have been asked to give their respective
charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at
morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.
TURNING POINT (A. Imran
Khan) jumped out slow losing about 2 lengths at the start.
Approaching
800 metres, GOOFY EYES (Neeraj
Rawal) shifted in onto KODIAC QUEEN (App. D. S.
Daman) who had to be checked.
Passing
the 400 metres, ORIONS BELT (J. Chinoy)
was observed to have hung out and carried TIMELESS DEEDS outwards.
An
objection was lodged by Jockey A. Imran Khan, the
rider of TURNING POINT (Placed Second) against ORION’S BELT (J. Chinoy, Placed First). The reason being, in the last 50 metres, ORION’S BELT came on to him, due to which his filly
shied and lost momentum which cost him a certain race, the verdict being
longneck.
After
considering the submissions made by Jockey A. Imran
Khan and Jockey J. Chinoy in conjunction with that of
the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgement,
the Stewards decided to over-rule the objection.
After
the race, Jockey T. S. Jodha (TIMELESS DEEDS)
reported the loss of his whip, about 200 metres from
the winning post. This being his first offence during the current Pune Meeting 2017, no action has been initiated.
After the race, ARSENAL was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s
V.O. before next accepting to race.

urine samples of the winner of the 1st, 2nd, 5th,
6th and 7th race, viz. PILATUS, BABY FACE, MYGRATOR,
DANCING PHOENIX and LADY IN LACE, as also that of HOLY SMOKE (6th
race) and ROCHESTER and CAPRISCA (7th race), were collected for
detection of prohibited substance.

THE ENAKSI PLATE RUN ON 16th SEPTEMBER, 2017
Since
Jockey T. S. Jodha was unable to do the weight on
GULLFOSS in the above race, he was substituted by Jockey Amyn
Merchant. After questioning all concerned and not being satisfied by the
explanation tendered by Jockey T. S. Jodha, he has
been fined Rs. 2,000/- for his lapse.
RACE NO. 127 - THE CARDINAL PLATE RUN ON 17th
SEPTEMBER, 2017
Since
Jockey R. Ajinkya was unable to do the weight on
YUTAKA in the above race, he was substituted by Jockey N. S. Parmar. After questioning all concerned and not being
satisfied by the explanation tendered by Jockey R. Ajinkya,
he has been fined Rs. 2,000/- for his lapse.
