PUNE MEETING 2017, FOURTH DAY, TUESDAY, 15th AUGUST, 2017.

RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED 1 METRE AWAY FROM THE ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1200 METRES CHUTE UP TO 1000 METRES AND THEREAFTER 4 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED 2 METRES AWAY FROM THE ORIGINAL POINT AT 1400 METRES, 3 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 4 METRES AWAY UP TO 1000 METRES.

 

RACE NO.1(39) – THE THANDA PLATE (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – 7 Runners

 

At the request of Jockey Nirmal Jodha, the saddle on his mount DURHAM LAD was adjusted at the start. DURHAM LAD was fractious at the starting gate. Trainer Magansingh P. Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures.

 

The Starter reported that CLOUDBURST (B. Nikhil) was reluctant to be stalled and thereafter rushed the front gates. After being loaded, it was observed that the gelding had injury on its fore head and in the process of un-stalling the bridle came off. CLOUDBURST was examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and found to have injured its left eye, as such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race. Further, the trainer is required to obtain a fitness certificate for the gelding from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting with him to race.

 

At the start, DURHAM LAD (Nirmal Jodha, dr.2) jumped outwards and went across TOWERING STORM (C.S. Jodha, dr.3) who was slow to begin.

 

After the race, STUNNER was trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(40) – THE MAYOR’S TROPHY: (About) 1800 Metres – 6 Runners

 

GOLD BOND (C. S. Jodha) was fractious and refused to be stalled despite substantial efforts, as such, the gelding was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order.  Since the gelding had behaved in a similar manner in its previous start, Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to take remedial measures and to show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter in a Mock Race, before next accepting with him to race.

 

LUCKY LUCIANO (Nirmal Jodha) and STAR PHOENIX (Bhawani Singh) jumped out slow losing about 2 lengths each at the start.

 

Trainer S. K. Sunderji requested permission to race his charge ROCHESTER in a Snaffle Bit as the horse had worked with the same and he had erroneously forgotten to apply for the change of bit at the time of Declaration. The matter was placed before the Stewards of the Club, who permitted the change of bit and directed the Stipendiary Stewards to take such action against the Trainer as they deem fit. Accordingly, Trainer S. K. Sunderji was fined Rs.2,000/-  by the Stipendiary Stewards for the above lapse on his part.

 

At the start, ROCHESTER (Prashant P. Dhebe, dr.6) jumped and veered outwards and had to be steadied.

 

Jockey Prashant P. Dhebe (ROCHESTER) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

After the race, ROCHESTER and STAR PHOENIX were trotted and found to be sound.

 

The Equine Hospital reported that on a request from the Trainer, MASTER OF STUDIES was scoped after the race and found to have Upper Respiratory Tract Infection Grade I.

 

RACE NO.3(41) – THE  RAJARAM CHHATRAPATI TROPHY: (About) 1800 Metres – 7 Runners

 

BOLD MARCH (Bhawani Singh) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Karthik Ganapathy has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Approaching 1600 metres, AL SHAMSHEER (T. S. Jodha) shifted out under urgings and carried SQUARE MOON (S. A. Amit) outwards. Jockey T. S. Jodha has been cautioned.

 

Approaching 200 metres, PALATIAL (Neeraj Rawal) shifted out under pressure thereby inconveniencing MEKONG DELTA (A. Sandesh). The Stipendiary Stewards are looking into this incident and will submit a report shortly.

 

Jockey Neeraj Rawal (PALATIAL) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

Jockey A. Sandesh (MEKONG DELTA) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

After the race, EXODUS was observed to have an abrasion at the left hind fetlock. AL SHAMSHEER and BOLD MARCH were found to be sound in the trot.

 

RACE NO.4(42) – THE  THANDA PLATE (DIV.I):(About) 1000 Metres – 9 Runners

 

On arrival at the start, BEDROOM EYES (Neeraj Rawal) was examined by the Club’s Sr V.O. who certified him fit to race. At the request of Jockey Neeraj Rawal, the saddle on BEDROOM EYES was adjusted.

 

Approaching 300 metres, it was observed that some part of the equipment used on OPTIMUM (P. S. Chouhan) was dislodged. Immediately after the race, Jockey P. S. Chouhan was asked to check his saddlery and on doing so he stated that everything was intact. Thereafter, on viewing the replay of the race, Jockey P. S. Chouhan stated that he had used a hand towel at the starting gates and may have carried the same, which fell. The Assistant Stipendiary Steward visited the spot of the incident and recovered the hand towel.

 

After the race, DANCE OF FIRE was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

The Sr. V.O. reported that BEDROOM EYES was examined at the stables in the morning on 16/08/2017 and was found to be sound in trot.

 

RACE NO.5(43) – THE NAWAB & BEGUM FAIYAZ HUSAIN MEMORIALTROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres – 9 Runners

 

After being stalled, FIRENZE (Dashrath Singh) kicked the rear gates. The filly was taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and found to have bleeding injury on the inner side of the left hock and abrasion on the outer side of the right hock. As such, FIRENZE was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order. The trainer is required to obtain a fitness certificate for the filly from the Club’s V.O. before next accepting with her to race.

 

MERABELLA (M. A. Roushan) jumped out slow losing about 4 lengths at the start. Trainer Faisal A. Abbas has been asked to give the mare more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Passing 700 metres, ODESSA (P. S. Chouhan) shifted in thereby tightening GREY FLANNEL (P. Trevor) along the rails forcing the Jockey to check his mount. On questioning, Jockey P. S. Chouhan stated that his mount shied inwards despite his efforts due to the close proximity of MAGNUM OPUS (N. B. Kuldeep).

 

After the race, MAGNUM OPUS was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, ODESSA, SPARKLING EYES, MADURO and MERABELLA were trotted and found to be sound.

 

The Equine Hospital reported that on a request from the Trainer, ODESSA was scoped after the race and found to have EIPH grade II.

 

RACE NO.6(44) – THE  PRA INDEPENDENCE MILLION: (About) 2000 Metres – 16 Runners

 

OTHELLO (N. S. Parmar) was reluctant to be stalled and thereafter lost about 4 lengths at the start. Trainer Vishal Gaikwad has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

KOMANDANT (A. M. Tograllu) jumped out slow losing about 2 lengths at the start.

 

Approaching 600 metres, SAMURAI (S. Joseph) shifted inwards due to a tightly packed field thereby inconveniencing CARNIVAL (Neeraj Rawal) and DARK GOLD (A. Imran Khan).

 

Passing 800 metres, Jockey  N. S. Parmar (OTHELLO) was observed to have used the whip on the right due to which his mount shied outwards thereby clipping the heels of JUNE (P. S. Chouhan) and further shifted out inconveniencing STAR SCHOLAR (J. Chinoy) and STAR COMRADE (Bhawani Singh). Jockey N. S. Parmar has been cautioned.

 

Approaching 400 metres, Jockey S. A. Amit (HIS MASTER’S VICE) in an effort to avoid clipping the front runner, shifted out thereby forcing CARE FREE (Prashant P. Dhebe) and KOMANDANT (A. M. Tograllu) outwards.

 

After the race, Jockey Dashrath Singh (EIGER’S TIGER) reported that his mount was sluggish in the early part of the race and when he urged his mount in the straight, he found him flat footed.

 

Jockey S. A. Amit (HIS MASTER’S VICE) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

Jockey R. Ajinkya (MARVEL) was observed to have used the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being his first offence, he has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

After the race, KOMANDANT was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, STAR COMRADE, EIGER’S TIGER, MARVEL and CARE FREE were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.7(45) – THE  FLOODS OF FORTUNE PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – 13 Runners

 

PRINCESS ATHENA (Vishal N. Bunde) reared up and fell backward behind the starting gate, as such, the filly was withdrawn before coming under Starter’s Order.

 

The Sr. V.O. reported that before loading PRINCESS ATHENA reared up and fell on her head and started bleeding from the nostrils, showing symptoms of nervousness and could not get up. First Aid treatment was initiated and the case was handed over to the Equine Hospital Vet for further management.  Subsequently, the Equine Hospital Vet reported that even after giving required treatment, the filly was unable to get up and bleeding was noticed from the nostrils and ears. Despite multiple attempts the filly was unable to get up and also was showing signs of in-coordination and nervousness. Finally, with the consent of Trainer Altaf Hussain, the filly was euthanized on humanitarian grounds.

 

DAZZLING EYES (P. Trevor) jumped out slow losing about a length at the start

 

Soon after the start, DAZZLING EYES (P. Trevor) shifted inwards on to ARSENAL (H. Zeeshan), who in turn shifted in thereby tightening GOLDEN ECLIPSE (A. Sandesh) along the rails. On questioning, Jockey P. Trevor stated that his mount was erratic throughout the race. Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

Soon after the start, TIMELESS DEEDS (A.Imran Khan) dropped back due to a tightly packed field thereby inconveniencing WILD JACK (S. Joseph).

 

After the race, Jockey Neeraj Rawal (AURODEN) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight despite his efforts. Trainer Shazaan Shah has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, DAZZLING EYES and KISS FROM A ROSE (examined on 16/08/2017) were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.8(46) – THE  WOVEN DREAMS PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres – 16 Runners

 

HORSE POWER (Sandeep Jadhav) jumped out throwing its head.

 

At the start HORSE POWER (Sandeep Jadhav, dr.10) jumped outwards and at the same time REPLICA (D. R. Shubham, dr.12) shifted in thereby tightening PRICELESSGIRL (D. A. Naik, dr.11).

 

Due to a tightly packed field, JEENA (S. J. Sunil) shifted in passing 800 metres, on to ASAHI (A. Sandesh) who in turn shifted in and tightened STAR ACE (Vikram Jodha) along the rails.

 

Passing 600 metres, STAR ACE (Vikram Jodha) was hampered for room and had to be steadied.

 

After the race Jockey Neeraj Rawal (DIVINE ANGEL) reported that he did not get a clear passage in the straight.

 

After the race, ASAHI was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

The Sr. V.O. reported that LUCKY STRIKE was examined at the stables in the morning on 16/08/2017 and found to be sore by the left fore leg.  The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, GOLDSMITH was trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 1st, 3rd, 5th and 6th race, viz. LOIRE, EXODUS, YANNA RASCALA and UNFORGETTABLE YOU, and the special sample of STUNNER (1st race), ROCHESTER (2nd race), WILD FIRE and  DANCE OF FIRE (4th race), KOMANDANT (6th race) and ASAHI (8th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
