PUNE MEETING 2017, SECOND DAY, FRIDAY, 28th JULY, 2017.

(PENETROMETER – 3.7; GOING: GOOD TO FIRM)

RACE DAY REPORTS

RAILS WERE PLACED 4 METRES AWAY FROM THE ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1200 METRES CHUTE UP TO 1000 METRES AND THEREAFTER 5 METRES AWAY UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES STARTING FROM THE BACK STRETCH, RAILS WERE PLACED 2 METRES AWAY FROM THE ORIGINAL POINT FROM 1300 METRES, 4 METRES AWAY AT 1200 METRES AND 5 METRES AWAY UP TO 1000 METRES.

 

RACE NO.1(9) – THE AGNI PLATE : (About) 1000 Metres – 15 Runners

 

After being stalled, MAKE IT SHINE (J. E. Pereira) was restless in the stall and was not allowing its rider to settle. As such, Trainer Arif Patel has been asked to give the mare more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

RESILIENT (App. Raj Pawar) jumped out slow losing about a length at the start.

 

Passing 200 metres, SUPER ICON (R. Ajinkya) shifted out under pressure and had to be steadied.

 

After the race, ROYCE was observed to have a cut injury at the right hind hock and OLIVIA KASPEN had a cut injury at the right hind pastern. PADMAKOSA and RICH N RARE were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(10) – THE  ENLIGHTENMENT PLATE: (About) 1800 Metres – 8 Runners

 

At the request of Jockey Neeraj Rawal the saddle on his mount RESPECT was adjusted at the starting gate.

 

The Stipendiary Stewards are looking into the running and riding of HARMONY and WILDHORN and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, OLLY BOY and RESPECT were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3(11) – THE  GAEA PLATE :(About) 1600 Metres – 9 Runners

 

Passing 300 metres, GLORIOUS ANGEL (App. Vishal N. Bunde) racing between SAWGRASS (A. Imran Khan) and CELESTIAL LIGHT (C. S. Jodha) was hampered for room and had to be checked and dropped back.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of FRIVOLOUS and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, GLORIOUS ANGEL was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, FRIVOLOUS was trotted and found to be sound. The colt was again examined in the stables in the morning on 29/07/2017 and found to have left eye injury, ulcer and opacity.

 

RACE NO.4(12) – THE  DR.S.R.CAPTAIN TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres – 10 Runners

 

SET TO FLY (Altaf Sayyed) jumped out slow losing about a length at the start.

 

Approaching 600 metres, SET TO FLY (Altaf Sayyed) shifted in thereby forcing CARBONARA (Prashant P. Dhebe) to be checked and change course. Jockey Altaf Sayyed has been cautioned.

 

Approaching 400 metres, ARTISTIC (Amyn Merchant) drifted out thereby inconveniencing PUGNACIOUS (P. Trevor).

 

Jockey Altaf Sayyed (SET TO FLY) reported the loss of whip passing the 400 metres. This being his first offence, he has been fined Rs.5,000/-.

 

After the race, Jockey Amyn Merchant (ARTISTIC) reported that his mount was inclined to hang out at the top of the straight. Trainer C. D. Katrak has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, AL SHAMSHEER, ARTISTIC (examined on 29/07/2017) and SET TO FLY (examined on 29/07/2017), were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(13) – THE  ANTONIOS TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres – 9 Runners

 

Trainer S. Waheed has been fined Rs.1,000/- for accepting with his charge GDANSK, whilst the gelding was under Starter’s ban. The gelding was struck out at the acceptance stage.

 

GOLD BOND (C. S. Jodha) refused to be stalled despite substantial efforts. As such, the gelding was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order. Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, Jockey J. Chinoy (WILD FIRE) reported that his mount hung-in in the straight. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

RACE NO.6(14) – THE  CACOPHONY PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres – 10 Runners

 

NEMBE GREEK (M. A. Roushan) took a fly jump thus losing about 2 lengths at the start.

 

At the start, ANGELS HARMONY (Vishal N. Bunde, dr. 6) jumped outwards and bumped  ORION’S BELT (Dashrath Singh, dr.7), who in turn shifted out inconveniencing NEMBE GREEK (M. A. Roushan, dr.8).

 

After the race, Jockey J. E. Pereira (FINE TUNE) reported that the saddle on his mount had slipped during the race. Trainer Mansoor Shah has been fined Rs.2,000/- for faulty saddling of his charge.

 

After the race, GOLDIE’S PET was observed to have an abrasion at both the hind fetlock

 

RACE NO.7(15) – THE  ZAHRA PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – 14 Runners

 

VISION OF ROMANCE (S. Sunil) was reluctant to be stalled and thereafter played up and put one of its fore in the adjoining stall. As such, the gelding was withdrawn before coming under Starter’s order. INDIAN SERENADE (Dashrath Singh) was reluctant to be stalled. HIROHAMA (S. J. Sunil) jumped out slow losing about 4 lengths at the start and ZAMBIAN (K. Nazil) jumped out and whipped around at the start and did not take any part in the race. Trainers C. D. Katrak, Narendra Lagad, B. Prakash and Nosher Cama have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, DANCING PRINCE (J. E. Pereira, dr.9) jumped outwards on to ROSELLA (C. S. Jodha, dr.10).

 

Soon after the start, INDIAN SERENADE (Dashrath Singh) shifted in under urgings before the Red Marker and went across DANCING PRINCE (J. E. Pereira) who had to be steadied. Jockey Dashrath Singh has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

Approaching 800 metres, MAGNUM OPUS (N. B. Kuldeep) shifted out and bumped WIND CRAFT (S. Joseph) and in the process unbalanced itself. After questioning, Jockey N. B. Kuldeep has been fined Rs.2,000/-.

 

Passing 300 metres, REMEMBER THE TIME (Parbat Singh) shifted out and carried MIZILLA GOLD (P. Trevor) outwards forcing the latter to be checked and drop back. Jockey Parbat Singh has been fined Rs.3,000/-.

 

After the race, ROSELLA was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, MAGNUM OPUS was found to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, VISION OF ROMANCE, REMEMBER THE TIME, HIROHAMA, LOCARNO and DANCING PRINCE (examined on 29/07/2017) were trotted and found to be sound. VISION OF ROMANCE had bruises on the right stifle. 

 

RACE NO.8(16) – THE  BRUNELLO PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres – 16 Runners

 

At the start, FURIOSA (J. Pradeep, dr.15) jumped inwards and went across DISHOOM (J. E. Pereira, dr.14)

 

Approaching 400 metres, KINGS BARON (Bhawani Sinbgh) was observed to have lost its hind footing and fell along with the rider. The Sr. V.O. reported that on examination, the gelding was found to have a broken shoulder joint (right side). The gelding was euthanized on humane grounds after obtaining consent of the Trainer.

 

Passing 100 metres, KNIGHT’S QUEST (N. S. Parmar) shifted in under urgings and made contact with GRAPPA (Vishal N. Bunde). Jockey N. S. Parmar has been cautioned.

 

After the race, GRAPPA was observed to have a cut injury at the left hind fetlock. RIDGEWOOD STAR and GOOD THING (examined on 29/07/2017) were trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 2nd, 6th, 7th and 8th race, viz. DROGO, SUMMER RAYS, INDIAN SERENADE and ODESSA, and the special sample of FRIVOLOUS and GLORIOUS ANGEL (3rd race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
