ADDITIONAL REPORTS:

RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “ARAKAWAH” IN RACE NO.274 – THE J.P.VAZIFDAR TROPHY – RUN ON 9th APRIL,   2017 -  COMPLAINT FROM TRAINER ALTAF HUSSAIN AGAINST JOCKEY SHRIKANT KAMBLE FOR NOT FOLLOWING HIS INSTRUCTIONS :

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Sunday, 9th April, 2017 having heard Jockey Shrikant Kamble and Trainer Altaf Hussain and having viewed the video recording of the race in question directed the Stipendiary Stewards to conduct an enquiry in the matter.

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held at 2.30 p.m. on Sunday, 16th April, 2017 considered the note from the Stipendiary Stewards and having heard Jockey Shrikant Kamble and Trainer Altaf Hussain and having viewed the video recording of Race No.274 as also Race No.246, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey Shrikant Kamble and held him guilty of not permitting his mount ARAKAWAH to run on its merits in Race No.274 wherein the Stewards noted that the Trainer and Owner had specifically instructed him to take a good jump and go to the front as he did in Race No.246.  It was noted that in the race in question, the pace was slow in the early part of the race and Jockey Shrikant Kamble could have easily hit the front as instructed. However, despite the horse being keen to go to the front he stopped him to such an extent that in order to fight his tight grip the gelding put his head down to the left and in the process was unbalanced.

The Stewards noted that the Trainer and Owner had both expressed their dissatisfaction with the riding of Jockey Shrikant Kamble for not following their specific instructions.

Taking an overall view, the Stewards of the Club decided that should Mr. Shrikant Kamble apply for a Jockey’s licence for the Season 2017/18, the same will be granted to him, however, his license shall stand suspended from the first Race Day of the Pune Meeting 2017 till the end of the Pune Meeting 2017 for not permitting his mount ARAKAWAH to run on its merits in Race No.274 (Not permitted to ride work/mock race).

RE : THEFT OF OATS AT THE MUMBAI RACE COURSE – REPORT FROM MR. SAMAD SHAIKH, CHIEF SECURITY CUM VIGILANCE OFFICER, MUMBAI RACE COURSE :

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on 16th April, 2017 interviewed Trainers H. J. Antia, Dallas Todywalla, Faisal A. Abbas, Karthik Ganapathy and Himmat Singh in the above connection. The Stewards noted with grave concern that good oats was probably being stolen and sold outside in the guise of stale oats which amounts to financial loss to the owners. Therefore, they decided to caution the Trainers to take corrective measures in the management of their stables so as to ensure that such incidents are not repeated. Further, they were told to ensure that nothing should leave the racecourse premises without prior written consent from the office.

RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE INTERFERENCE AT THE START IN RACE NO.255 -  THE NANOLI STUD JUVENILE STAKES - RUN ON 1st APRIL, 2017 :

Soon after the race, the part-owner Mr. Darius B. Chenoy and Trainer Bezan Chenoy expressed their dissatisfaction into the riding of Jockey P. Trevor (DAUGHTEROFTHESUN) in connection with the start wherein Jockey P. Trevor had shifted in thereby causing interference to their filly FOREST FAIRY (C. S. Jodha) and in the opinion of the part-owner, Jockey P. Trevor may have had a mala-fide intent as the eventual winner of the race was from the stable he was retained to ride and felt that a Stewards Enquiry should have been taken.

Considering the interference, the horse being a favourite and in view of the complaint received from the connections of FOREST FAIRY, the Stipendiary Stewards looked into the race, more specifically into the interference at the start and their finding was that at the start, DAUGHTEROFTHESUN (P. Trevor, dr.5) jumped inwards and made contact with FOREST FAIRY (C. S. Jodha, dr.4) forcing it to shift in and bump ANNIVERSARY GIRL (Bhawani Singh, dr. 3) who in turn shifted in due to lack of room thereby bumping GNOSTIC EYES (N. Rawal, dr.2) who in turn shifted in and made contact with DAFFODIL (Neeraj Rawal, dr.1). During this interference ANNIVERSARY GIRL (Bhawani Singh) was observed to have ricocheted between FOREST FAIRY (C. S. Jodha) and GNOSTIC EYES (N. Rawal).

The Stipendiary Stewards reported that they did not find any mala-fide intentions in the riding of Jockey P. Trevor. However since the favourite FOREST FAIRY had been interfered, The matter was reported to the Stewards for consideration and such action as they may deem fit.

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on 16th April, 2017 considered the above report and having viewed the race from various angles decided that no action was called for in the matter.
