RACE NO.1 (177) – THE  VINAYAK TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1000 Metres – 11 Runners

 

At the start, ORLA (N. B. Kuldeep) was observed to have taken a fly jump.

 

At the start, VOULEZ VOUS (Dashrath Singh, dr. 8) jumped inwards and made contact with HUNAYN (J. Pradeep, dr.7). Thereafter, CARRALISA (P. S. Chouhan, dr.6) shifted out starting a chain reaction due to which HUNAYN (J. Pradeep, dr.7) and VOULEZ VOUS (Dashrath Singh, dr. 8) were tightened and had to be checked.

 

Passing 900 metres, CARRALISA (P. S. Chouhan) shifted in and went across SNOW BLAST (Akshay Gaikwad) who had to be steadied. Jockey P. S. Chouhan has been cautioned.

 

Approaching 500 metres, CARRALISA (P. S. Chouhan) was hampered for room along the rails and had to be steadied. 

 

Passing 300 metres, Jockey Akshay Gaikwad (SNOW BLAST) maintained an erratic course thereby inconveniencing ORLA (N. B. Kuldeep). Jockey Akshay Gaikwad has been cautioned.

 

After the race, CARRALISA, SNOW BLAST and HUNAYN (examined on 17/10/2016), were trotted and found to be sound. CARRALISA had an abrasion at the left hind fetlock, a cut injury at the right hind cannon and a gum injury. SNOW BLAST had an abrasion at the left hind fetlock.

 

RACE NO.2 (178) – THE SIR SULTAN CHINOY TROPHY: (About) 1000 Metres – 7 Runners

 

At the start, HIDDEN SOUL (A. Sandesh, dr.4) shifted out thereby inconveniencing GOLDEN BELLE (P. Trevor, dr.5).

 

Approaching 600 metres, GOLDEN BELLE (P. Trevor) veered out and had to be steadied. On questioning, Jockey P. Trevor stated that there was a lot of kick back due to which the filly had behaved in such a manner.

 

Passing 200 metres, SHIVALIK SHINE (Suraj Narredu) shifted out under pressure thereby inconveniencing RIDER ON THE STORM (Shrikant Kamble).  

 

In the final stages of the race, HIDDEN SOUL (A. Sandesh) shifted in on to SHIVALIK SHINE (Suraj Narredu). Jockey A. Sandesh has been cautioned.

 

After the race, GOLDEN BELLE and RIDER ON THE STORM (examined on 17/10/2016) were trotted and found to be sound. GOLDEN BELLE had a cut injury at the right fore cannon.

 

RACE NO.3(179)  – THE JIMMY UMRIGAR TROPHY (DIV.II): (About) 1200 Metres – 10 Runners

 

At the start, RICARDUS (Vikram Jodha, dr.2) jumped outwards and bumped FURIOUS N’ FAST (Y. S. Srinath, dr. 3).

 

At the start, THUNDER DOWN UNDER (Suraj Narredu, dr.7) shifted in thereby inconveniencing ALLEGRIA (Bhawani Singh, dr.6) who had to be steadied. After travelling some distance, THUNDER DOWN UNDER (Suraj Narredu) again shifted in thereby inconveniencing FIRENZE (A. Sandesh) along the rails.  Jockey Suraj Narredu has been cautioned.

 

Soon after the start, FURIOUS N’ FAST (Y. S. Srinath) shifted in thereby inconveniencing GALTERO (N. S. Parmar) along the rails. Jockey Y. S. Srinath has been cautioned.

 

Passing 200 metres, FURIOUS N’ FAST (Y. S. Srinath) was inclined to run out and had to be steadied. Trainer Nirad Karanjawala has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, Jockey Suraj Narredu (THUNDER DOWN UNDER) reported that his mount hung out in the straight. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, Jockey Altaf Sayyed (NIGHTFALL) reported that his mount hung out throughout the race. Trainer C. D. Katrak has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the colt.

 

After the race, TREVELYAN and NIGHTFALL (examined on 17/10/2016) were trotted and found to be sound. TREVELYAN had an abrasion at both the hind fetlock. 

 

RACE NO.4 (180) – THE PUNE POLICE COMMISSIONER’S TROPHY: (About) 1600 Metres – 8 Runners

 

Tr. Mansoor Shah has been fined Rs.5,000/- for failing to declare his charge CENTAURUS.

 

Tr. Mansoor Shah has been fined Rs.10,000/- for failing to declare his charge DANCING LORD (Second offence).

 

At the request of Trainer Nirad Karanjawala, VIXEN was examined at 0950 hours on 16/10/2016 and was found to be sore by the right fore leg, as such, the mare was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

Trainer Faisal A. Abbas was observed to have saddled his charge, MERABELLA outside the saddling enclosure without the requisite permission. As such, Trainer Faisal A. Abbas has been fined Rs. 3,000/-

 

At the start, DAISHONIN (App. S. A. Amit, dr.7) jumped outwards and at the same time SEACRETS (S. Zervan, dr.9) jumped inwards thereby tightening COURTSHIP (P. Trevor, dr.8).

 

Passing 300 metres, Jockey Suraj Narredu (SILVER BEAUTY) shifted out thereby inconveniencing MAGIC IN THE AIR (C. Umesh). Jockey Suraj Narredu has been cautioned.

 

Passing 200 metres, MERABELLA (A. Sandesh) shifted out on to SILVER BEAUTY (Suraj Narredu). On questioning, Jockey A. Sandesh stated that his mount was inclined to run out despite his efforts. Trainer Faisal A. Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, ESSENCE OF LOVE was observed to have an abrasion at the left fore bulb of heel, COURTSHIP had an abrasion at the right hind pastern and SEACRETS had a cut injury at the left fore bulb of heel.

 

RACE NO.5(181)  – THE IGCC TROPHY: (About) 2400 Metres – 11 Runners

 

HURACAN (N. B. Kuldeep) was restless in the stall and not allowing the rider to settle. SANAM (T. S. Jodha) and MIRACLE OF LOVE (Dashrath Singh) jumped out slow, losing about 6 lengths and 3 lengths respectively. Trainers Subhag Singh and B. Prakash have been asked to give their respective charge HURACAN and SANAM more gate practice and show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, MIRACLE OF LOVE, SANAM and PALATIAL were trotted and found to be sound. MIRACLE OF LOVE had lost its left hind plate.

 

RACE NO.6(182)  – THE NOSHIR & DOLLY DHUNJIBHOY SPRINT MILLION (GR.3): (About) 1200 Metres – 5 Runners

 

After the race, CONGRESSIONAL was observed to have an injury at the right nostril.

 

RACE NO.7(183) – THE KINGFISHER ULTRA PUNE DERBY (GR.1): (About) 2000 Metres – 11 Runners

 

At the behest of the Stipendiary Stewards, a Stewards’ Enquiry was held in this race. The reason being, passing 200 metres, ACCOLADE (P. Trevor, Placed First) shifted in and tightened VULCAN (Kavraj Singh) who was racing along the rails, whereby VULCAN clipped the heels of ACCOLADE and stumbled dislodging the rider.

 

After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to maintain the Order of Placing as declared by the Judge. 

 

Passing the 200 metres, ACCOLADE (P. Trevor) shifted in despite the Jockey’s efforts and caused VULCAN (Kavraj Singh), racing along the rails to clip the heels of the former and stumble, thereby dislodging the rider. Due to this incident, Y. S. Srinath (UNFORGETTABLE YOU) who was making his move from behind, had to stop riding in order to avoid colliding with the rider-less horse / fallen Jockey. As such Trainer P. Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures and to show his charge to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a Mock Race, before next accepting with him to race.

 

HIGHLAND BREEZE (P. S. Chouhan) was placed fifth and ZANZIBAAR (J. Chinoy) was placed sixth by the Judge, in this race.

 

RACE NO.8(184) – THE  JIMMY UMRIGAR TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1200 Metres – 11 Runners

 

Soon after the start,  ABU AL BUKHOOSH (C. S. Jodha, dr. 8) shifted out on to DOMINATION (Suraj Narredu, dr. 9) and at the same time IDEALIST (Neeraj Rawal, dr11) shifted in, due to which ADELE (Santosh G., dr.10) was tightened for room and dropped back.

 

Jockey Santosh G. (ADELE) reported the loss of his whip approaching the 200 metres.

 

In the final stages of the race, CYCLONE (A. Sandesh) was observed to have drifted out and made contact with YANNA RASCALA (P. Trevor). On questioning, Jockey A. Sandesh stated that his mount hung out in the straight despite his efforts. Trainer Sanjay Kolse has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, ABU AL BUKHOOSH, CYCLONE, FIREBOLT and IDEALIST were trotted and found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.9(184) – THE  VINAYAK TROPHY (DIV.I): (About) 1000 Metres – 11 Runners

 

At the start, DRAGON OF WAR (D. S. Daman, dr.2) jumped outwards and made contact with CRACKLIN’ ROSIE (G. Amit, dr.3).

 

After the race, CRACKLIN’ ROSIE was observed to have an abrasion at the left hind pastern and QUIXOTIC had a cut injury at the left hind cannon. MINSTREL HEIGHTS, WIND CRAFT and DRAGON OF WAR were trotted and found to be sound.

The urine samples of the winner of the 1st, 4th, 6th, 7th, 8th & 9th race, viz. DANCING PRINCE, MERABELLA, GOLD BAG, ACCOLADE, YANNA RASCALA & MINSTREL HEIGHTS, as also that of DANCING PRANCES (6th race) and GERMANICUS & NAMID (7th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
