The Trainer stated that he tried the filly over a longer trip in her previous start in Race No.169 where she had run suggestively, and therefore, in today’s race he gave her a chance as this was a weaker set of horses. He said that during the Mumbai Meeting also the filly had performed well over 1400 metres. The explanation was noted.

ADDITIONAL REPORT/S:

RE : ENQUIRY INTO THE COMPARATIVE PERFORMANCE OF “RASHUN” (WINNER) IN RACE NO.182 – THE PEPE JUNIOR PLATE RUN ON 3RD OCTOBER, 2014 AS COMPARED TO ITS PREVIOUS RUN IN RACE NO.169 RUN ON 28TH SEPTEMBER, 2014 WHERE HE WAS UNPLACED – TRAINER HIMMAT SINGH :

The Stipendiary Stewards reported that they had questioned Trainer Himmat Singh in the above connection.  The Trainer stated that the previous race was run over 1800 metres whereas this race was run over 1400 metres. Also, this race was restricted for small owners and it was less competitive as compared to the previous race. Also, Jockey C.S.Jodha had not handled the gelding properly in Race No.169. The Trainer added that RASHUN had performed well over 1400 metres in its first start during the current Pune Meeting. To another question, he stated that the Owner wanted to test the gelding over an extended trip in Race No.169 to see if he would stay and the gelding was up against a good company. He said that he had given the gelding a chance in this race as he had done well over 1400 metres. Trainer Himmat Singh’s attention was drawn to the Calendar Notification with regard to comparative performance within a short span of time.  The matter was reported to the Stewards for such action as deemed fit.

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Friday, 17th October, 2014 considered the above report and having deliberated, decided that no action was called for in the matter.
