PUNE MEETING 2014, ELEVENTH DAY, SUNDAY, 21ST SEPTEMBER, 2014.

RACE DAY REPORTS

FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED WIDTH ABOUT 2.5 METRES LEADING TO 9 METRES FROM WINNING POST UP TO 1000 METRES. THEREAFTER 2.5 METRES WIDE LEADING TO 3.5 METRES WIDE AT 800 METRES AND UPTO THE WINNING POST. FALSE RAILS WERE ALSO PLACED FROM 1200 METRES CHUTE WIDTH ABOUT 1.5 METRES.

 

THE STARTING GATES FOR THE 1000 METRES RACES WERE POSITIONED AT APPROX. 1027 METRES, FOR 1200 METRES AT APPROX. 1210 METRES, FOR 1400 METRES AT APPROX. 1415 METRES, FOR 1600 METRES AT APPROX. 1610 METRES, FOR 1800 METRES AT APPROX. 1834 METRES AND FOR 2400 METRES AT APPROX. 2447 METRES.

 

RACE NO.1(149) – THE  ELOISE  PLATE: (About) 1800 Metres – 7 Runners

 

STARRY MOMENT (App.Bhawani Singh) was restless in the stall and not allowing the rider to settle. Trainer Altamaash A.Ahmed has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race. 

 

PORTO BANUS (Dashrath Singh) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race, PORTO BANUS was found to be sore by the left hind leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, DIVALATHA was found to be sound, but having a bruise at the left hind coronet. NIGELLA was found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.2(150) – THE NEONA PLATE : (About) 1600 Metres – 8 Runners

 

Near 1400 metres, NEGOTIATOR (D.K.Ashish) shifted-in as the gelding was being settled and went on to SUPERLICIOUS (App.Yash Narredu), who in turn tightened HAUNTING MOMENTS (Neeraj Rawal). In this incident, MONZA (Vinod Shinde) who was following SUPERLICIOUS ,was also inconvenienced. Jockey D.K.Ashish has been fined Rs.1,000/-.

 

Trainer Karthik G. was questioned regarding the comparative performance of HAUNTING MOMENTS in this race which the filly won as compared to her previous run in Race No.136 run on 14th September, 2014. The Trainer stated that in the previous run i.e. Race No 136, the filly could not get a clear run in the straight and by the time she got the opening the race was already over. Further, the filly carried 61 kg in Race No 136, while in Race No 150 she carried 52.5 kgs being a Class II race. The Trainer further stated that the previous race was run on the new monsoon track. He added that he had fancied the filly on both the occasions. The explanation was noted.

 

The Club’s V.O. reported that at the request of Trainer M.Narredu, SUPERLICIOUS was scoped at the Club’s Equine Hospital and found to be EIPH (Gr.II).

 

After the race, SUPERLICIOUS, RUNNING SUN and WOVEN DREAMS were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.3(151) – THE  MYSORE RACE CLUB TROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres – 5 Runners – NO REPORT

 

RACE NO.4(152) – THE  SECRET MEMORY PLATE: (About) 2400 Metres – 6 Runners

 

DIXIE DELIGHT (C.S.Jodha) took a fly jump.

 

App.D.S.Daman (SWORD OF HONOUR), when questioned, stated that his instructions were to go to the front, but when DOUBLE OR QUITS (Sandeep Jadhav) came alongside, his mount became keen and ran away despite his efforts.

Trainer M.K.Jadhav was questioned regarding the poor performance of UNICO CORAZON (A.Sandesh) who finished 6th, 19 lengths behind the winner. The Trainer stated that the filly raced over 2400 metres for the first time. On the form, the filly had no chance but she is well bred and he hoped that she will race better. He said that the filly won her first race i.e. Race No 53 well but in Class V and the horses in that race have performed poorly except ADAMS WING. He said that today the filly ran in a higher Class i.e. Class IV with good horses and with form. He added that he wanted to race the filly over 1800 metres earlier but the company was tough and the race was too soon and therefore he ran the filly over 2400 metres. To another question, the trainer stated that he does not control the odds and even he was surprised that the filly was a favourite. He further added that the body weight of the filly was around the same (i.e. 431 kg) as it was when she had won (i.e. 435). The explanation was noted.     

 

After the race, SWORD OF HONOUR was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of four weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, SWORD OF HONOUR, DIXIE DELIGHT and UNICO CORAZON were found to be sound.

 

RACE NO.5(153) – THE VILLOO C.POONAWALLA GOLD TROPHY: (About)1000 Metres – 10 Runners

 

ENGLISH LASS (Kavraj Singh) refused to be stalled in spite of all efforts. As such, the filly was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order.  Since the filly had behaved in a similar manner in her last outing, Trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha has been asked to give filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter in a Mock Race, before next accepting to race.

 

Jockey Neeraj Rawal (GHALIB) has been cautioned for allowing his mount to shift-out soon after the start, and in the process, carried ALDERLEY EDGE (Dashrath Singh) outwards, who in turn forced QUATRO (I.Pasha) further out.

 

SUPER ICON (D.A.Naik), KHALEEFA (A.Sandesh) and DREAMZ UNLIMITED (Darren Williams) ran erratic in the straight.

JOLEENE (S.Sunil) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer Faisal A.Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

After the race, SUPER ICON was observed to have a cut injury at the left hind pastern and ARSENAL had a bruise at the left hind pastern.

 

RACE NO.6(154) – THE S.A.POONAWALLA MULTI-MILLION (GR.2): (About) 1600 Metres – 8 Runners

 

ZODIAC (Dashrath Singh) was restless in the stall and not allowing the rider to settle. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

At the start, VISION OF ROMANCE (D.K.Ashish, dr.5) jumped awkwardly outwards and went on to RULE DOWNUNDER (C.S.Jodha, dr.6), who went on to SHANIA (App.Yash Narredu, dr.7).

 

Near 300 metres, ROYAL PASSION (Kavraj Singh) was inconvenienced as ZACHARY (S.Zervan) shifted-in marginally. Jockey S.Zervan has been asked to be more careful.

 

Jockey Kavraj Singh (ROYAL PASISON) has been fined Rs.3,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

 

The Club’s V.O. reported that after the race, at the sampling yard, ZODIAC was observed to be in distress and necessary treatment was done by the Equine Hospital Veterinarians. Later  the urine sample of  the gelding was collected after he had recovered.

 

After the race, ROYAL PASSION was observed to have an abrasion at the left fore bulb of heel. RULE DOWNUNDER was found to be sound.

 

JACK FROST (Neeraj Rawal) was placed fifth and FLASHING CHIEFTAIN (A.Sandesh) was placed sixth by the Judge, in this race.

 

RACE NO.7(155) – THE RAO SAHEB KEDARI GOLD TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres – 9 Runners

 

At the request of Trainer Nina M.Lalvani, NUSH was examined at 1145 hours on 18/09/2014 and was found to be sore by the right fore leg,  as such, the mare was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on Veterinary grounds. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race. 

 

Jockey Vikram Walkar (VANGUARD) reported that his mount jumped out awkwardly.

 

Near 300 metres, HALLE (App R.Ajinkya) was held up for a few strides while racing behind SAMAY BALWAN (Sandeep Jadhav).

 

Trainer H.J.Antia was questioned regarding the comparative performance of his charge ICE ZONE. The Trainer stated that the gelding has been racing well and has placed in higher Class and though the gelding had finished last in the previous start, he was only 8 lengths from the Winner. He added that as compared to RUBENS who had finished second on this day, that horse had finished approximately 15 lengths behind the winner in its previous start whereas his charge had performed consistently in its previous starts. To another question, he stated that he had fancied the gelding in all its starts. The explanation was noted.

 

Jockey A.Sandesh and Trainer B.Prakash were questioned regarding the poor performance of ROMEO. The instructions to the Jockey were to sit 2nd/3rd/4th. The Jockey said that after a few strides from the start, the gelding was striding well but did not respond when he was asked for an effort in the straight. Trainer B.Prakash stated that the gelding had worked and raced well earlier. He added that the gelding had lost its left hind shoe which may have had a bearing on its performance. The Trainer admitted that the gelding had performed poorly and opted to scope the horse.

 

The Club’s V.O. reported that at the request of Trainer B.Prakash, ROMEO was scoped at the Club’s Equine Hospital and was reported to be EIPH (Grade-III). The gelding is not to race for the stipulated period of four weeks and has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, ROMEO and SOUND OF RIVER were found to be sound. ROMEO had lost its left hind plate.

 

RACE NO.8(156) – THE SEA RULER PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres – 9 Runners

 

Jockey Dashrath Singh (DREAMLINER) reported that his mount did not gallop at any stage. The Club’s V.O. was requested to examine the gelding and he reported that no abnormality was detected.

 

Trainer Vijay Kasbekar and Jockey Shobhan Babu S were questioned regarding the running and riding of HABIBIANS coupled with drift in odds. The Jockey stated that he was instructed to sit in a forward position and he was also informed that the horse has the habit of drifting in. The Jockey further added that the horse lugged-in throughout the race. Trainer Vijay Kasbekar stated that this was the gelding’s second run under his charge and he had felt that in this set of horses the gelding could be positioned in a forward position, however, the gelding did not show speed in the early part. He further stated that the gelding has soundness issues. The explanation was noted.   

 

After the race, HABIBIANS was found to be sound.

The post race urine sample of the winners of the 3rd, 4th, 6th & 7th race, viz. MINT APPROACH, EXACTLY, ZACHARY and ICE ZONE, as also that of ROYAL PASSION & ZODIAC (6th race), and the special sample of SWORD OF HONOUR (4th race) and ROMEO (7th race), were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
