RACE NO.3(335)– THE  MISSCHEVIOUS TROT PLATE:(About) 1800 Metres – Runners – 4

DREAMS OF YOU (Neeraj Rawal) ran erratic in the straight and near 300 metres shifted in and inconvenienced HAWKER (D.K.Ashish) and then near 100 metres shifted out and made contact with MUFASA (P.Trevor).  The Club’s V.O. was requested to examine the filly and he reported that no abnormality was detected.

CACTUS CASH (Kavraj Singh) lugged-in in the straight. Trainer Magansingh P.Jodha has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

The Owner of DREAMS OF YOU lodged a complaint against the riding of Jockey Neeraj Rawal. Trainer P.Shroff and Jockey Neeraj Rawal were questioned regarding the running and riding of DREAMS OF YOU and the matter was reported to the Stewards for such action as deemed fit.

The Stewards after the last race considered the above matter. When questioned, Tr.P.Shroff said that the field consisted of only four runners and he was not sure as to who would make the running, hence, he had told the Jockey that being a small field, it was important that he saves the filly whether the positioning was in the front or at the back and give her a chance keeping in mind that she had not run for some time because of surgery. He said that filly took a jump and was in 3rd position but then the pace slowed down and the filly tugged on the bridle and came into second position and coming into the straight when the Jockey made his move and hit the front she started wandering and he felt that possibly the Blinkers may not have suited her as she was getting scared and she wobbled and ran all over the place. He felt that the Jockey possibly took a bit long to change his whip hand but he had ridden out the filly and he cannot attribute this to his wrong intention. He said that this filly has not performing her best and he was trying ways and means to improve her and had used Blinkers on her in the last two races but now he feels that the Blinkers have not suited her although she had worked well with Blinkers. Also, the filly had wind problem for which she was operated upon.  He said that may be a better calibre Jockey may have been able to handle the filly better. He said that he had engaged Jockey Neeraj Rawal because he rides at 49 kg.

Jockey Neeraj Rawal confirmed the instructions and added that after the start he was in third position along the rails but thereafter the pace slowed down and the filly became keen and to avoid clipping the front horse he pulled her out and was in second position but could not keep her covered because there was a horse on his inside. He said that coming into the straight he waited a bit longer since he was told to give her a chance because in her previous run the filly went to the front and stopped in the last part. He said that when he took over the running the filly started lugging in and went on to the horse along the rails and when he pulled her out she drifted out and bumped the horse on the outside. He said that the filly wobbled and was running all over the place and he had to correct her but he had done his best.

After viewing the video recording of Race No.336 as also the filly’s previous race i.e. Race No.124, the Stewards decided that no action was called for in the matter.

Jockey S.Mosin (BEYOND HORIZONS) reported that he lost his left rein a few strides before the winning post. Since the filly had lost the race in a photo-finish and this incident may have cost the filly the race, the matter was reported to the Stewards for such action as deemed fit.

The Stewards considered the above matter and having heard Jockey S.Mosin as also Trainer Sanjay Kolse and having viewed the video recording of the race, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey S.Mosin and held him guilty of incompetent riding, wherein he had lost the reins in the final stages of the race, which, by his own admission, had cost him the race. The Stewards noted that BEYOND HORIZONS was a fancied runner, however, keeping in mind that the horse had returned from the race with a cut injury at the left fore coronet, they took a lenient view in the matter and decided that should he apply for a Jockey’s license for the Season 2014/15, the same may be granted to him, however, his Jockey’s license shall stand suspended for 24th July, 2014 (permitted to ride work/mock race). Further, he was severely cautioned for the future.
