On a request from Trainer Altaf Hussain, permission was granted to Trainer Nana Raghunath to saddle his charge PAPER KING in the 7th race at his (Trainer Altaf Hussain’s) risk and responsibility.

 

RACE NO 1. (111) THE PARTY WHIP PLATE:  (About)  1000 Metres.- RUNNERS 

 

Trainer Sangramsingh N. Joshi has been fined Rs.1000/- for presenting his charge BORZU AGAIN with the tongue strap, an equipment, for the use of which prior permission was not obtained. The horse ran without the tongue strap. 

 

Jockey Vikram Walker (DISCOVER) was observed to have used his whip in excess of the prescribed limit on is mount. On questioning, the Jockey explained that under pressure his mount was inclined to lug-in and therefore he may have used his whip in excess. The explanation was accepted.

 

After the race, DISCOVER was observed to have an abrasion on the right fore and both hind pasterns. BLACK PHANTOM was observed to have an abrasion on the right hind fetlock and ARABIAN POWER had an abrasion on the right fore canon.

 

RACE NO 2. (112) THE A.J. WADIA PLATE:  (About) 1800 Metres. – RUNNERS -   4

 

TRUE ELEGANCE (Samuel Fargeat) was inconvenienced soon after entering the straight.

 

Jockey Samuel Fargeat and Trainer Faisal A Abbas were questioned regarding the running and riding of TRUE ELEGANCE. The Jockey was instructed to ride a waiting race, to gradually improve from 1000 meters and around the bend to pull her out, and come from the outside since the horse moves better from the outside. The Jockey confirmed the instructions. He added that if he had to travel from the outside he would have to travel out so he decided to come along the rails, which is the shortest way home.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of TRUE ELEGANCE and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

After the race, MEMORABLE DAY was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

RACE NO 3. (113) THE WANDERING ANGEL PLATE  - DIVISION II:  (About) 1400 Mts.–RUNNERS -  9

 

At the request of Trainer Narendra Lagad, PALERMO was examined by the Sr. VO at 2000 hours on 06/09/2008 and was found to have fever, as such the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on veterinary grounds.

 

Soon after the start, ADAMS LAW (Dashrath Singh) shifted in and went onto NONIOS (Anil Baandal) who in turn went onto YOUNG OFFENDER (K.P.G.Appu). Jockey Dashrath Singh has been fined Rs.2000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

After the race, STAR ADVENTURE was observed to have lost her left fore plate and YOUNG OFFENDER had a bleeding injury on the right hock.

 

 

 

 

RACE NO 4. (114) FIELD MARSHALL SAM MANECKSHAW MEMORIAL TROPHY:  

(About) 1200 Metres. – RUNNERS - 12 

SPICA (S.N.Chavan, dr.10) jumped out awkwardly towards the outside forcing RADIATING (Wayne Smith, dr.11) and ATHENA (C.Rajendra, dr.12) to travel wide. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

Near 600 metres, RADIATING (Wayne Smith) shifted out and went across THE RISING (M.Narredu) Jockey Wayne Smith has been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

NIMBLE FEET (K.P.G.Appu) hung out in the straight. Trainer Mansoor Shah has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the mare.

 

After the race, APPRECIATE was observed to be sore by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, BEAU MONDE was observed to have lost his left fore plate and NIMBLE FEET had an abrasion on the left hind bulb of heel.

 

RACE NO 5. (115) THE SOUTHERN COMMAND GOLD TROPHY (GRADE 3) :

  (About) 1600 Metres.– RUNNERS -11 

CZAR ALEXANDER (C.Rajendra) played up after being stalled. The gelding was unloaded and examined by the Club’s Sr. VO who certified him fit to race. Trainer P Shroff has been asked to give the gelding more Gate practice and show the gelding to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials before next accepting to race.   

 

Passing 1400 metres, HOTSTEPPER (P.Kamlesh) shifted in and inconvenienced CZAR ALEXANDER (C. Rajendra) who in turn inconvenienced NANJING (A.M.Tograllu) who was dropping back. Jockey P.Kamlesh has been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

After the race, SECRET MEMORY was observed to be going short by the right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

 

THE HURRICANE (Wayne Smith) was placed fifth and HOTSTEPPER (P.Kamlesh) was placed sixth, by the Judge in this race.

 

RACE NO 6. (116) THE SEPTEMBER HANDICAP:  (About) 1600 Metres. – RUNNERS - 11 

 

At the request of Trainer SS Shah, GIFT OF GRACE was examined by the Sr. VO at 0700 on 06/09/2008 and found to have fever, as such the gelding was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on veterinary grounds.

Soon after the start, MUSICAL RHYTHM (A.M.Tograllu) shifted in and went across INSITE SOUL (K.P.G.Appu) and then HIGHLAND WARRIOR (Aadesh Kumar). App AM Tograllu has been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

Soon thereafter, GOT TO GO (Neeraj Rawal) shifted in carried GALACTICA (YS Srinath) inwards for a brief period. Jocey Neeraj Rawal has been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

While straightening for home, INSITE SOUL (KPG Appu) shifted in and inconvenienced SHANGHAI GAL (Nirmal Jodha). Jockey KPG Appu has been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

While negotiating the final bend, GALACTICA (Y.S.Srinath) shifted out and tightened SHANGHAI GAL (Nirmal Jodha) onto MUSICAL RHYTHM (A.M.Tograllu). Jockey YS Srinath explained that he found his mount to race erratically and he could not avoid the outward movement of his mount. The Sr. VO was requested to examine the filly for any abnormality.  

 

RACE NO 7. (117) THE WANDERING ANGEL PLATE  - DIV. I:  (About) 1400 Metres. – RUNNERS - 11

 

REFUSE TO BEND (R.Shelar) jumped out slowly losing about 6 lengths at the start. Trainer SK Sunderji has been asked to give the gelding more Gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter during the morning trials before next accepting to race.

 

Approaching 200 meters, APTIANA (Neeraj Rawal) shifted in and forced VERY BONAFIDE (Ahsan Qureshi) to shift in and was awkwardly placed behind the heels of MUBARRAS (Samuel Fargeat) and had to be checked to avoid the heels of MUBARRAS. Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been fined Rs.3000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

RACE NO 8. (118) THE ORIENT DANCE PLATE:  (About) 2000 Metres. – RUNNERS - 9

 

At the request of Trainer Vinayak, TSESEBE was examined by the Sr. VO at 0730 hours on 06/09/2008 and was found to have external injury and soft tissue swelling of the right fore canon and knee, as such the filly was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn on veterinary grounds.

 

TROMOS (Samuel Fargeat) played up in its Stall. The colt was unloaded and examined by the Club’s Sr. VO who certified him fit to race. Trainer SK Sunderji has been asked to give the colt more Gate practice and to show him to the satisfaction of the Starter during the morning trials before next accepting to race.

 

The saddle on SAARAH had slipped back during the race, this being the second occasion, the Trainer Jayantilal K.Gor has been fined Rs. 5000/- for not taking sufficient care with regard to the saddling of is charge.

 

Jockey YS Srinath (SUPREME FALCON) has been fined Rs.1000/- for using his whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

 

After the race, CHEVRON was observed to have an abrasion on the right fore inside bulb and TROMOS had an injury on the right hind coronet.

The post race urine sample of the winners of the 1st , 3rd, 5th and 8th race respectively viz. DISCOVER, STAR ADVENTURE, DIEGO RIVERA and RISING HERO as also that of HUGO & COTSWOLD ARMS (5th race) and the special sample of MEMORABLE DAY (2nd race) & ATHENA (4th race) were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
