On arrival at the Starting Gates, ACCEPTANCE was examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. and found to be sore by the right fore leg. As such, the mare was certified unfit to race and hence withdrawn on veterinary grounds before coming under the Starter’s Order. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

Jockey Aadesh kumar, the declared rider for LITTLE PRINCESS, telephonically informed that he had missed his flight from Bangalore and would not able to report at the Weighing Room to fulfill his riding engagement for the first race, as such, he has been fined Rs.5000/-.

CZECH (App.Shammi Khan) jumped out awkwardly towards the inside despite Jockey’s effort and hampered the running of JOLTEON (Hanumant Singh). Thereafter, CZECH shifted out as the Apprentice tried to control his mount and went on to TRIBAL WARRIOR (Khalander) forcing it to shift out. Trainer Amjad Khan has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

Soon after entering the straight, CHIEF WARRIOR (Sunny Chinoy) hung out due to which LADY TROOPER (App Kishore Kadam) was forced to travel wide. Trainer Vinay Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

Near 1100 metres ARABIAN GUEST (T.S.Jodha) was inconvenienced when JOLTEON (Hanumant Singh) shifted in. Jockey Hanumant Singh has been cautioned to be more careful.

Jockey Khalander (TRIBAL WARRIOR) has been reprimanded for traveling wide during the race.

After the race CHIEF WARRIOR was observed to have lost his left fore plate, SUDDEN IMPACT had splayed his right fore plate, CZECH had a bleeding injury on the right fore bulb of heel and LADY TROOPER had an injury on the right medial thigh.

RACE NO.2 (89) - THE LEGAL STEPS PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres. Runners - 9

Trainer Nina M. Lalvani declared Jockey Samuel Fargeat to ride her charge NARA without having confirmed from the Jockey regarding his availability, which resulted in the Jockey being declared in more races than he was eligible to ride. As such Trainer Nina M. Lalvani has been fined Rs.5000/-.

Near 500 meters, LOVE FORTY (Aadesh Kumar) was inconvenienced while racing on the inside of NARA (Neeraj Rawal) and was steadied.

Soon after entering the straight, Jockey Shoban Babu (MOUNTAIN KING) used his whip with the right hand while his mount was shifting out and again in the final furlong. As such, Jockey Shoban babu has been cautioned for improper use of the whip.

Near 300 meters, LILAC TIME (Riyaz Shaikh) lost her balance possibly due to the close proximity of MOUNTAIN KING who had shifted out, due to which LILAC TIME shied away and in the process the filly lost her balance. After this incident, the saddle on LILAC TIME was observed to have slipped back. Jockey Riyaz Shaikh was observed to have used his whip after the filly had regained her balance, despite being aware that the saddle had slipped back. No action was initiated against Trainer Ivor Fernandes since the saddle may have slipped back due to the incident near 300 meters, however, Jockey Riyaz Shaikh has been cautioned for the handling of his mount post-incident in the straight.

RACE NO.3 (90) - THE PELICAN TROPHY :  (About) 1000 Metres. Runners -  9

Nevertheless, Jockey C.Rajendra has been advised to be more careful with his equipment in future.

An objection was lodged by Jockey K.P.G.Appu, rider of DANCING DYNAMITE (placed 2nd) against Jockey P.Kamlesh, rider of ANTONIOS (placed 1st). RE : ENQYIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “SCHNELL” IN RACE NO.86 – THE SNOWSTORM PLATE RUN ON SUNDAY, 24TH AUGUST, 2008 :

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Saturday, 30th August, 2008 considered the evidence obtained by the Stipendiary Stewards in the above enquiry. They interviewed Trainer H.J.Antia and Jockey L.Prashant and having considered all the submissions made and having repeatedly viewed the video recording of the loading/start of Race No.86 with the hand held camera as also the front view of the start, in normal as well as in slow motion, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey L.Prashant. The Stewards noted the written complaint lodged by Mrs.B.E.Saldanha, the part-owner of SCHNELL  with regard to Jockey L.Prashant’s riding on SCHNELL in Race No.86. Also, Trainer H.J.Antia expressed his dissatisfaction with Jockey L.Prashant’s riding on SCHNELL. Therefore, the Stewards decided to issue a Show Cause notice to Jockey L.Prashant as to why action should not be initiated against him for not permitting his mount SCHNELL to run on its merits in the above race. Further, the Stewards directed to conduct further enquiries into the matter.

______________

ENQUIRY INTO THE COMPARATIVE PERFORMANCE OF “FLASHING FLAME” WHO WON IN RACE NO.83 – THE AL DENTE PLATE RUN ON 24TH AUGUST, 2008 AS COMPARED TO HIS PREVIOUS RUN IN RACE NO.65 – THE ESTERELLI PLATE RUN ON 17TH AUGUST, 2008 WHERE THE GELDING WAS UNPLACED :

Trainer Narendra Lagad was questioned in the above connection. He explained that :-

1)         There was a change of Track, in Race No.65 the horse ran on the Monsoon Track whereas this time the horse ran on the Main Track;

2)         There was a change of distance i.e. Race No.65 was run over 1600 metres whereas the gelding won in Race No.83 over 2000 metres;

3)         In Race No.65, the horse was slow out of the gates, losing about 3 lengths at the start and was subsequently given enough gate practice and this time he took a level jump;

4)         As regards the three common horses which ran with FLASHING FLAME in Race No.32 i.e. STAR OF THE SEASON who was a fancied runner,   returned lame after the race and RAGE OF ANGELS was slow at start.  As regards the third common horse STAR CRUSADER who had finished fourth in Race No.32 over 1800 metres, his horse had covered good ground  towards the end to finish a close fifth and this time he had extra 200 metres to travel which was to his advantage and he beat STAR CRUSADER by two lengths. The remaining two runners viz. ELUSIVE TRUST and JULPHA had no previous form.

After viewing the video recording of Race Nos32, 65 and 83 and scrutinizing the betting sheets, the explanation tendered by Trainer Narendra Lagad was noted.
