RACE DAY REPORTS

FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED FROM 1200 METRES CHUTE WIDTH ABOUT 8 METRES – REDUCING TO 5 METRES WIDE AT 1000 METRES. FALSE RAILS WERE ALSO PLACED FROM 2000 METRES TILL 1600 METRES WIDTH ABOUT 4 METRES AND THEREAFTER THERE WERE NO FALSE RAILS.

On a request from Tr. Faisal A Abbas permission was granted to Tr. Altamash Ahmed to saddle his charges STATJFORD (4^th race), TRUE ELEGANCE (5^th race) and TATTENHOE (6^th race), at his (Tr. Faisal A Abbas’) risk and responsibility.

On a request from Tr. Karthik G. permission was granted to Tr.S.S.Shah to saddle his charges GALACTICA (4th Race), ANGELS GLORY (6^th race) respectively at his Tr. Karthik. G ’s risk and responsibility.

RACE NO.1 (48) - THE ZAHRA PLATE : (About) 1200 Metres - RUNNERS – 7

Soon after the start, FOREST MUSIC (S.N.Chavan) tried to veer out. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

Jockey S.N.Chavan (FOREST MUSIC) has been cautioned for traveling wide while negotiating the final bend.

Jockey Hamir Singh (SECRET AGENDA) reported loss of his whip at about 400 metres from the winning post. Since this is the first time the Jockey reported loss of his whip this season, no action has been initiated against him beyond reminding him of the notice with regard to the loss of whip.

RACE NO.2 (49) – THE ORIENTAL EXPRESS PLATE : (About) 1600 Metres – Runners – 7

NARA (C.S.Jodha) reared up as the start was effected and planted, taking no practical part in the race. As this was the first time the filly behaved in this manner, Trainer Nina Lalvani has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and to show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race her.

Trainer Nirrad Karanjawalla and Apprentice Shammi Khan were questioned regarding the running and riding of DYNAMITE. The Apprentice was instructed to hit the front and if not, to be in 2^nd or 3^rd position and to do his best. The Apprentice was observed to have made insufficient efforts to follow the Trainer’s instructions. Not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by Apprentice Shammi Khan, he has been cautioned for the same.

After the race FIRECRACKER was observed to have an abrasion on both hind fetlocks.

RACE NO.3 (50) – THE GREY AREA PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners – 8

BEAU MONDE (Sunny Chinoy) jumped out awkwardly towards the inside. Jockey Sunny Chinoy has been asked to be more alert in the gates.

Passing 400 meters, DANCE MAESTRO (C.S. Jodha) was tightened for room when the rider tried to take an insufficient room on the inside of GAME OF TALENT (Aadesh Kumar) who was dropping back at that stage. Since the incident was accidental no action has been initiated against anyone. However, Tr.S.S.Shah and Jockey C.S.Jodha were asked to wait after the last race in case the Stewards wished to interview them with regard to the running and riding of DANCE MAESTRO.

The Stewards interviewed Trainer S.S.Shah and Jockey C.S.Jodha and having heard their submission and viewing the video recording of the race, the Stewards were not entirely satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey C.S.Jodha. However, the Stewards decided to give him benefit of doubt in this case and he was warned that in the future he must ensure that he follows the Trainer’s instructions, especially on a fancied runner.

In the final stages of the race, DANCE MAESTRO (C.S.Jodha) shifted out and went across ISHTAR (J.Pradeep) and later took its running. Jockey C.S. Jodha has been fined Rs.3000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

After the race GAME OF TALENT was observed to have lost his both fore plates.

RACE NO. 4 (51) – THE MAJESTIC EAGLE TROPHY : (About) 1200 Metres – Runners – 8

Soon after the start, ITSRACINGAFTERALL (S.S.Baria, dr.7) shifted in and jostled with GALACTICA (Y.S.Srinath, dr.5). ITSRACINGAFTERALL was banned from racing during the last Mumbai Meeting when the gelding had behaved in a similar manner. The gelding had behaved satisfactorily in his earlier start during the current Pune Meeting in Race No.20 but considering the gelding’s behavior in this race, Trainer Anil Kumar has been asked to take remedial measures and to show the gelding in a Mock race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards before next accepting to race him.

Jockey Y.S.Srinath (GALACTICA) reported loss of his whip near 200 metres from the winning post. Since this is the first time the jockey has reported loss of his whip this season, no action has been initiated against him beyond reminding him of the notice with regard to the loss of whip.

After the race GOLDEN ROCK was observed to have an abrasion on his left fore bulb of heel and left hind pastern, STATJFORD had an abrasion on the right hind fetlock and VICTORY STAR had an abrasion on the right hind pastern.

RACE NO.5 (52) – THE PRA INDEPENDENCE TROPHY : (About) 2000 Metres – Runners – 10

LIQUIDATOR (M.Narredu) had swayed his head to the left as the start was effected losing about 3 lengths. URUJ (T.S.Jodha) jumped out slowly, losing about 5 lengths. Trainers P.Shroff and S.S.Shah have been asked to give their respective charges more gate practice and to show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting with them to race.

Jockey M Narredu (LIQUIDATOR) reported that his mount was sluggish at the start and since he was instructed to go to the front or to be well up, he had brushed up the horse to move up the field. He said that he found the horse uncomfortable throughout the race and did not respond to his urging. Tr.P.Shroff stated that he had fancied the horse and he no explanation to offer as to why the horse performed poorly. The Sr. VO was requested to examine the horse for any abnormality and he reported that the horse was found to be sound after the race.

CHEVRON (Nirmal Jodha) was inclined to lug-in in the final furlong. Trainer Imtiaz A Sait has seen asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

After the race URUJ was observed to have an abrasion on both mid thorax.

RACE NO.6 (53) – THE FINE ARROW PLATE: (About) : (About) 1000 Metres – Runners – 8

INSITE SOUL (Zameer Sayeed) took a fly jump.

After the race HIGHLAND CONQUEST was observed to have an abrasion on his left hind fetlock.

RACE NO.7 (54) – THE GLACIER PLATE: (About) : 1400 Metres – Runners – 8

Tr.S.Mangalorkar has been fined Rs.1000/- for using Pacifier Blinker instead of Pacifier Visor on his charge WAHY.

In the process of being stalled, WAHY (C.Rajendra) played up and dislodged the rider who was hurt, as such WAHY was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order. Tr.S.Mangalorkar has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting with her to race.

WITNESS (I.Shaikh) trailed the field.

RACE NO.8 (55) – THE SAINT EMILION PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres – Runners - 12

SEA GULL (Neeraj Rawal) played up after being stalled. The mare was unloaded and examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. who certified her fit to race.

At the start, MISTER FIXIT (App Shammi Khan, dr.3) shifted inwards and made contact with VIJAYI BHAVA (Nirmal Jodha, dr.2) due to which VIJAYI BHAVA lost its position. App Shammi Khan was reported to the Stewards. The Stewards interviewed App Shammi Khan, along with his Master, Mr. Nirrad Karanjawalla, and having heard their submissions and viewing the video recording of the race and keeping in mind that this was App.Shammi Khan’s 7^th ride of his career , decided to give him the benefit of the doubt in this case. However, he was warned to maintain a straight course from the start till the red marker in the future.

After the race MISTER FIXIT was observed to have an abrasion on his left hind fetlock.

The post race urine sample of the winner of the 1^st, 4^th and 6^th race viz. VANTAGE, SPITZ and ANGELS GLORY and also that of LIQUIDATOR (5^th race) were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE: JOCKEY C.S. JODHA REPORTED TO THE STEWARDS FOR CARELESS RIDING ON HIS MOUNT “SARA JAHAN” IN RACE NO 47 – THE GOODNESS GRACIOUS PLATE – RUN ON SUNDAY, 10^TH AUGUST 2008

The Stewards interviewed Jockey C.S.Jodha and after having heard the submissions made by him and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by the Jockey, held him guilty of Careless and Improper riding on his mount SARA JAHAN in Race No.47. The Stewards also considered his past record. Therefore, the Stewards decided to suspend his Jockey’s License w.e.f. 30^th August 2008 up to 13^th September 2008 (both days inclusive) and to warn him for the future.
