RACE DAY REPORTS

FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED 1.5 METRES WIDE FROM 1000 METRES TILL THE WINNING POST. FALSE RAILS WERE ALSO PLACED 2 METRES WIDE FROM 1200 METRES (CHUTE) TILL 1000 METRES.

RACE NO.1 (40) - THE NELSON RIVER PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres.   – RUNNERS -8

HAWKEYE (T.S.Jodha) played up after being stalled. The gelding was unloaded and examined by the Club’s V.O who certified him fit to race. Trainer M.K.Jadhav has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and to show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting with him to race.

After the race, CHIEF WARRIOR was observed to have an abrasion on the left hind bulb of heel and had lost his left hind plate.

RACE NO.2 (41) - THE RADIANT PLATE: (About) 1400 Metres.   – RUNNERS - 8

Jockey C Chowgule (CHARLIE PARKER) lost his whip near 400 meters. Since this was the first time the jockey has reported loss of his whip this Season and the horse was out of contention, no action has been initiated against him beyond reminding him of the notice with regard to the loss of whip.

Jockey J.Pradeep (SIBERIAN SIREN) has been cautioned for raising his hand as a victory sign before passing the Winning Post.

After the race, SIBERIAN SIREN was observed to have an abrasion on the right hind cannon.

RACE NO.3 (42) - THE ALBERTINI PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres.   – RUNNERS - 7

GOLDEN KINGDOM (S.N.Chavan) played up after being stalled. The gelding was unloaded and examined by the Club’s V.O. and found to have sustained bleeding abrasion on both the stifles and left hind fetlock. As such, GOLDEN KINGDOM was certified unfit to race and hence withdrawn on veterinary grounds before coming under the Starter’s order. FORBES LIST (M.Narredu) was fractious and reluctant to be stalled. Trainers Narendra Lagad and M.K.Jadhav have been asked to give their respective charges more gate practice and to show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting with them to race.

FASCINATION (Vikram Walkar) was sluggish, losing about a length at the start.

After the race, FLUENT VICTORY was found to be sore by his right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s VO before next accepting to race.

After the race, MYPETHONEY was observed to have an abrasion an injury on her left hock.

RACE NO.4 (43) - THE KIA ORA PLATE: (About) 1000 Metres.   RUNNERS - 12

MYSTERIO (App.Shammi Khan) reared up and flipped over in its stall. Due to this, PRINCESS RUBY (K.P.G.Appu) who was in the adjoining stall was injured. Both the horses were unloaded and examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. who certified them unfit to race, as such, MYSTERIO and PRINCESS RUBY were withdrawn on veterinary ground before coming under the Starter’s order. Also, Jockey J.Pradeep (CLASSIC STAR) complained that his wrist was hurt as his horse had played up and he was in pain and was unable to ride. As such, CLASSIC STAR was also withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s order.

VICTOR IVANOV (S.S.Rathore) and NUNCIO (Vikram Jodha) were reluctant and fractious to be stalled. Trainers Narendra Lagad and Suresh Chavan have been asked to take remedial measures and to show their respective charges MYSTERIO & VICTOR IVANOV in a mock race to the satisfaction of the Starter, before next accepting with them to race. Also, Tr.H.J.Antia has been asked to give his charge NUNCIO more gate practice before next accepting with him to race.

The Sr.V.O. reported that after loading, MYSTERIO reared up and fell on its back and while getting up, struggled and kicked over the horse in the adjoining stall i.e. PRINCESS RUBY who sustained bleeding abrasion on her hind fetlock. As such both the horses were certified unfit to race and hence recommended to be withdrawn from the race.

Jockey V.Kotwal (HIDDEN DRAGON) and Jockey Riyaz Shaikh (AEGINA) both reported loss of whip near 600 metres and near the winning post respectively. Since this is the first time both the jockeys have reported loss of his whip this Season, no action has been initiated against them beyond reminding them of the notice with regard to the loss of whip.

After the race the Pacifiers on NUNCIO (Vikram Jodha) were observed to have caved in, possibly, due to the horse being restless in its Stall and in the process may have hit its face on the front gates of its Stall.

After the race, BLUE BLAZE was observed to have an abrasion on the nasal bridge.

RACE NO.5. (44) - THE STRENGTHTOSTRENGTH TROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres.  

Due to the rains, the 1200 meters Chute was rendered non-conducive for racing on this day, hence the Stewards decided to cancel this race.

RACE NO.6 (45) - THE CLUB SOLARIS TURF CLUB TROPHY: (GR.3) (About) 1400 Metres.

At the request of Tr.P.Shroff, DIEGO RIVERA was examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. at 1200 hours on 08/08/2008 and found to go short by the left fore due to hoof problem. As such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and hence was withdrawn on veterinary grounds. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

Jockey T.S. Jodha (MOUNTAIN BEAR) has been fined Rs.5000/- for not informing his Trainer the weight at which he would ride, due to which Trainer Karthik G could not obtain prior permission to carry overweight for his Rider.

Jockey Suraj Narredu (THE HURRICANE) has been cautioned for raising his hand as a victory sign before passing the Winning Post.

PERSONIFIED (Y.S.Srinath) was placed fifth and ELMWOOD (C.S.Jodha) was placed sixth by the Judge, in this race.

RACE NO.7 (46) - THE MAYOR'S TROPHY: (About) 1800 Metres.   RUNNERS - 8

At the request of Tr.Altamash Ahmed, RISING HERO was examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. at 1200 hours on 09/08/2008 and found to have fever. As such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and hence was withdrawn on veterinary grounds.

RACE NO.8. (47) - THE GOODNESS GRACIOUS PLATE:  (About) 1400 Metres.  RUNNERS - 10

At the request of Tr.Amjad Khan, CZECH was examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. at 1030 hours on the race day (10/08/2008) and found to have soft tissue swelling over both the cannon. As such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and hence was withdrawn on veterinary grounds.

An Objection was lodged by Jockey Samuel Fargeat, rider of MUBARRAS (placed 3^rd) against SARA JAHAN (C.S.Jodha, placed 1^st). The reason being, at 150 metres, SARA JAHAN crossed him and blocked him whereby he had to stop riding and he was still gaining ground and this cost him a certain race.

The Stewards interviewed the Jockeys concerned and after reviewing the video recording of the race and having deliberated on the matter, decided to overrule the objection.

In the above connection, Jockey C.S. Jodha has been asked to meet the Stewards on Friday, 15/08/2008 for Careless riding on SARA JAHAN.

After the race, SARA JAHAN was observed to have an abrasion on the right hind coronet and left hind fetlock.

The urine sample of the winner of 2^nd, 4^th and 6^th race viz. SIBERIAN SIREN, BLUE BLAZE and THE HURRICANE and also that of HUGO & AQUILO (6^th race) were collected for detection of prohibited substance.
