RACE NO 1. (302) THE D. W.
REID PLATE: (About) 1200
Metres. Runners – 7
Jockey R. Shelar (BLACK HUSSAR) was observed to have used his whip
in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. This being the 3rd
offence with regard to the use of the whip, the matter was reported to the
Stewards. The Stewards having interviewed Jockey R.Shelar in this regard were
not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him, Stewards decided to suspend his Jockeys License w.e.f. 27th
April 2008 to 30th April, 2008 (both days inclusive). Thereafter,
should he apply for a Jockey’s license for the Season 2008/09, the same will be
granted to him, however, his license shall stand further suspended for 24th
July, 2008.
Jockey R.Shelar subsequently informed that he does not wish to
appeal against the decision and would like to take his punishment earlier as
per the Calendar Notification dated 10th January, 2007. Accordingly,
his Jockey’s license stands suspended w.e.f. 22nd April, 2008 to 30th
April, 2008 (both days inclusive).
Jockey K.P.G. Appu (TRIBAL WARRIOR) has been fined Rs.1000/- for
using his whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.
Apprentice A.M.Tograllu
(CLASSIC SPIRIT) was observed to have ridden his mount in check and inconvenienced
TRIBAL WARRIOR (K.P.G.Appu) in the early part of the race. When questioned,
App.Tograllu stated that he was instructed
to go to the front or to be in the 2nd position. He added
that he felt that the outside horse would come in and in anticipation he had
ridden his mount in check. When questioned, Trainer Magansingh P Jodha stated
that he was not satisfied with the riding of the Apprentice in the early part
of the race since he was instructed to go to the front or be in the 2nd
position and the Apprentice had unnecessarily checked his mount and lost
position in the early part of the race thereby putting the horse at a
disadvantage. The matter was reported to the Stewards for such action as they
deem fit.
The Stewards interviewed Trainer Magansingh P Jodha and Apprentice
A.M.Tograllu and having considered all the submissions made and having viewed
the video recording of Race No.302, the Stewards were not satisfied with the
explanation tendered by App.A.M.Tograllu, held him guilty of unsatisfactory riding
on his mount CLASSIC SPIRIT in the above race wherein he did not follow the
Trainer’s instructions. In that, his instructions were to hit the front or sit
in 2nd position. Having taken a good start he had the opportunity to
settle the horse as instructed, however, for no apparent reason he disappointed
and strangled the horse from the start till the bend. However, keeping in mind
that the horse was at longer odds, the Stewards took a lenient view in the
matter and decided to suspend his Apprentice Jockey’s license w.e.f. 27th
April, 2008 to 30th April, 2008 (both days inclusive). Thereafter,
should he apply for an Apprentice Jockey’s license for the Season 2008/09 the
same will be granted to him, however, his license shall further stand suspended
w.e.f. 24th July, 2008 to 15th August, 2008 (both days
inclusive) (permitted to ride work/mock race). Further, he was cautioned for
the future.

The matter was reported to the Stewards.
The Stewards interviewed
Trainer S.K.Sunderji and Jockey Samuel Fargeat and having heard the submissions
made by them and viewing the video recording of the incident of loss of whip in
normal as well as slow motion, the Stewards were not satisfied with the

RE:
ENQUIRY INTO THE POOR PERFORMANCE OF “MULTICULTURAL” IN RACE NO 276 RUN ON 27th
MARCH 2008 - TRAINR KARTHIK G AND JOCKEY T.S. JODHA
Trainer Karthik G and
Jockey T.S.Jodha were questioned regarding the captioned subject matter.
Trainer Karthik G informed that the Jockey was instructed to be in 5th
6th position and to do his best which the Jockey confirmed. The
Trainer stated that MULTICULTURAL was a difficult filly to ride as she can not
be easily pulled out and has a tendency to lean on the inside. It was put to
the Jockey that approaching 200 meters when the front horses had shifted in, he
had not made sufficient effort to pull out his mount on the outside of ST
MORITZ and ride out to advantage and that he was feeble in his riding effort.
The Jockey stated that he found his mount to lug-in at that stage and when he
shifted in ST MORITZ was about 3 lengths ahead of him and he had not stopped
riding and had done his best but the horse did not respond.
Trainer Karthik G added
that next day of the race, the horse had a swelling on the right hind tendon
and the horse was trotting short.
The Sr.V.O. confirmed
that the horse was found to be short by the right hind leg and had swelling on
the tendon and was trotting short by the right hind leg. As such the
explanation tendered by the Trainer and Jockey was noted.

RE:
ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING & RIDING
AND DRIFT OF ODDS ON “GOLDEN ORRA” IN RACE NO 301 RUN ON 6TH APRIL
2008:
Trainer Narendra Lagad
was questioned regarding the captioned subject matter. The Trainer stated that
he was disappointed with the performance of the horse and had no plausible
explanation to offer.
The Jockey was instructed
to be in 2nd or 3rd position. It was observed that the
horse was in position as instructed and the filly did not travel well in the
straight. The jockey stated that he found the horse was in hand till about 800
meters and when he asked for an effort the filly did not respond to his urgings
and started dropping back.
The race in question as
well as the previous race of the filly was viewed and it is observed that the
running pattern of the filly was practically the same and there was no common
horse in her last three runs.
The explanation tendered
by the Trainer and Jockey was noted.
