RACE DAY REPORTS

 

FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED 10 METRES WIDE FROM 1600 METRES (MILE CHUTE) TO 1200 METRES, 11 METRES WIDE AT 1000 METRES AND THEREAFTER 12 METRES WIDE UPTO THE WINNING POST. THE STARTING GATES WERE POSITIONED AT THE MARKER FOR THE START OF EACH RACE AS MEASURED BY A ROADOMETER.

 

RACE NO 1. (270) THE J. ROBINSON PLATE: (About) 1600  Metres. – RUNNERS - 7

 

PREMIER DIVA (Nadeem Alam) jumped out awkwardly from the Gates.

 

Jockey T.S. Jodha (OPERA ROYALE) reported that his mount was sluggish in the early part of the race and while negotiating the bend the mare hung-out and travelled wide. The Jockey’s explanation was noted and the Sr.V.O. was requested to examine the mare for any abnormality.  Further, Trainer Adil Dajee has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the mare.

 

After the race SPARROW HAWK was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, GUSTI EGLI was observed to have an abrasion on the right hind fetlock (old wound freshened). The gelding also had a wolf tooth on the left side.

RACE NO 2. (271) THE SIMAROW PLATE:  (About) 1200 Metres.   – RUNNERS - 7

 

After being stalled, FIREY FUTURE (App A.M.Tograllu) reared up and hooked his left fore leg in the adjoining stall. The gelding was taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. who certified him unfit to race,  as such FIREY FUTURE was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order.

CONSUELA (Samuel Fargeat) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Nina Lalvani has been asked to give the mare more Gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

SHAKTIMAAN (Vikram Walkar, dr.3) jumped out awkwardly towards the outside and jostled and forced BU ATTIFEL (A.J.Nilesh, dr.4) to shift out and at the same time CONSUELA (Samuel Fargeat, dr.6) jumped out awkwardly and shifted towards the inside and jostled with BU ATTIFEL. Both the jockeys Vikram Walkar and Samuel Fargeat have been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over their respective mounts. 

Soon after the start, THE RIGHT MAN (P.S.Chouhan) shifted in and hampered the running of CONSUELA (Samuel Fargeat) causing her to be checked by its rider. Jockey P.S. Chouhan has been fined Rs.3000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

When questioned regarding the comparative performance of his charge BU ATTIFEL, Trainer Faisal A. Abbas stated that in Race No.256 it was the first run of the horse during the current Mumbai Meeting which may have benefited the horse. This time his horse was running in a race for horses 5-years-old  and over and he had not fancied the horse. He said that this was the maiden win of the horse. When asked to explain the 7 lengths improvement shown by his horse in 7 days time as compared to the common horse SHAKTIMAN, Trainer Abbas said that his horse received a drop of 2 points (1 kg) after its last run and possibly the previous race had benefited the horse. The matter was reported to the Stewards for breach of Calendar notification.  The Stewards interviewed Trainer Faisal Abbas and having viewed the video recording of both the races decided to give Trainer Faisal A. Abbas the benefit of the doubt in this case. However, his attention was drawn to the Calendar Notification “Re : Comparative Performance of Horses winning within a short span of time” and he was warned to be more careful in the future.

 

After the race, CONSUELA was observed to have an abrasion on the right hind pastern and BLUE ATTIFEL splayed its left fore plate.

RACE NO 3. (272) THE FAIR RAY PLATE  - DIVISION II :   (About) 1000 Metres.   – RUNNERS - 10

 

After being stalled, BAY DESTINY (P.Belose) started kicking the rear Gate. The filly was taken out and examined by the Club’s Sr. V.O. and found to have sustained bleeding abrasion on both the hocks and right shank. As such, the filly was certified her unfit to race and hence was withdrawn before coming under

the Starter’s Order. Trainer Magansingh P Jodha has been asked to give the filly more Gate practice and to show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

POMME DE TERRE (Aadesh Kumar) was slow in her strides, losing about 2 lengths at the start.  

 

Soon after entering the straight, FIGHTING FANTASY (Samuel Fargeat) shifted out and hampered the running of FEARLESSNEGOTIATOR (P.S.Chouhan). Jockey Samuel Fargeat has been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over his mount. 

 

RACE NO 4. (273) THE KAILASHPAT SINGHANIA TROPHY :  (About) 1200 Metres.  RUNNERS - 6

 

CALL TO ARMS (App Kishore Kadam) jumped out awkwardly towards the inside.

Soon after the start, DYNAMIC CAT (Daniel M.Grant) was inclined to lug-out and in the process inconvenienced CALL TO ARMS (App Kishore Kadam). Trainer C.D.Katrak has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the colt.

 

Jockey Daniel M.Grant (DYNAMIC CAT) has been cautioned for allowing his mount to shift out passing the 300 metres thereby causing inconvenience to CALLS TO ARMS (APP Kishore Kadam).

 

After the race, DYNAMIC CAT was observed to go short by the left fore leg. The colt has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

RACE NO 5. (274) THE FAIR RAY PLATE  - DIVISION I :  (About) 1000 Metres.   – RUNNERS - 12

 

NOBLE DEEDS ( H.G.Rathod) was slow in the strides, losing about a length at the start.

 

ELEMENTTO STYLE (Aadesh Kumar, dr.3) jumped out awkwardly towards the inside and caused Jockey Amyn Merchant (FLAMING ARROW, dr. 1) to take evasive action. Since the incident was accidental, no action has been initiated against the Jockey. Nevertheless, Jockey Aadesh Kumar has been asked to be more alert at the Gates. 

 

Soon after the start, MYPETHONEY (Dashrath Singh, dr.11) shifted in and went across BABEINTHEWOODS (C Rajendra, dr.10) and further shifted in and caused interference to RUBAIYAT (Satish Nayak). Jockey Dashrath Singh has been fined Rs.3000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

Near 700 metres, RUBAIYAT (Satish Nayak) shifted out due to the bend and inconvenienced EXCELLENT GIFT (T.S.Jodha) who was racing on his outside.

 

Jockey C.Rajendra (BABEINTHEWOODS) reported loss of his whip about 400 metres from the winning post.  Since this was the second time the jockey has reported loss of whip, he has been fined Rs.1000/- for the same.

 

After the race, FLYING KING was observed to be sore by the left fore leg. The colt has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, ELEMENTTO STYLE was observed to have an abrasion on the left hind fetlock.

RACE NO 6. (275) THE INDICTMENT TROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres. – RUNNERS -11

 

MICKEY MANTLE (Dashrath Singh) jumped out slowly, losing a distance at the start. Considering this and the colt’s behavior during the previous start, Trainer Zadmal Singh has been asked to give the colt more gate practice and to show him in a Mock race to the satisfaction of the Starter, before next accepting to race.

 

Passing 400 metres, MASTER CRAFT (Riyaz Shaikh) hung out and ATHENA (C.Rajendra) hung-in in the straight. Due to this movement of the horses, DANCE MAESTRO (T.S.Jodha) was observed to have kept an erratic course in an endeavour to find an opening. Trainers Asad Siddiqui and P. Shroff have been asked to take remedial measures with their respective charges before next accepting to race them. Further,  it was observed that both the Jockeys, Riyaz Shaikh and C Rajendra, had made insufficient effort to control the movement of their respective mounts, as such both the jockeys have been cautioned for the same.

 

 

RACE NO 7. (276) THE CLIFDEN PLATE:  (About) 1400 Metres - RUNNERS - 9

 

The Stipendiary Stewards were not satisfied with the running and riding of GAME OF POWER, as such, both Trainer Nana Raghunath and Jockey Mansoor Khan were asked to meet the Stewards.

 

The Stewards interviewed Trainer Nana Raghunath and Jockey Mansoor Khan and having heard them and viewing the video recording of Race No.276 :-

 

a)       The Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey Mansoor Khan and  held him guilty of not permitting his mount to run on its merits. However, considering that  the horse was at longer odds, they took a lenient view in the matter and decided to suspend his Jockey’s  License w.e.f. 11th April 2008 to 30th April 2008 (both days included). Thereafter, should he apply for a Jockey’s license for the Season 2008/09 the same will be granted to him, however, his license shall stand suspended w.e.f. 24th July, 2008 to 31st August, 2008 (both days inclusive) (not permitted to ride work/mock race). Further, he was severely cautioned for the future;

b)      The Stewards were also not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Trainer Nana Raghunath and resolved to fine him a sum of Rs.15,000/- with a severe warning for the future.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of MULTICULTURAL and a report will be submitted shortly.

The urine sample of winner of 4th and 7th viz. STAR O’ WAR and BONNY LIGHT and the special sample of SPARROW HAWK (1st race) and GENERALISSIMO (6th race) were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “PREMIER DIVA” IN RACE NO 241 RUN ON 13TH MARCH 2008 – TRAINER IMTIAZ A SAIT & APP KISHORE KADAM:

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Thursday, 27th March, 2008 considered the report of the Stipendiary Stewards and interviewed Trainer Imtiaz A Sait, Apprentice Kishore Kadam and his master, Trainer P Shroff. Having heard their submissions and viewing the video recording of Race No.241, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by App.Kishore Kadam. However, they decided to give him the benefit of the doubt for the charge of “unsatisfactory riding” and held him guilty of incompetent riding on his mount. The Stewards considered his past record. Therefore, the Stewards decided to suspend his Apprentice Jockey’s License w.e.f. 11th April 2008 to 20th April 2008 (both days inclusive). (Permitted to ride work/ Mock race).  Further, he was severely cautioned for the future.

RE : CONFIRMATORY REPORT IN RESPECT OF  b f   “YANA” (WINNER) IN RACE NO.144 – THE HDIL INDIAN OAKS (GR.I)  RUN ON 20TH JANUARY, 2008 :

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Thursday, 27th March, 2008 interviewed Trainer Bezan Chenoy regarding the Confirmatory Analysis Report dated 20th March,  2008 from LCH, France, in respect of the sample of urine taken from YANA (Winner) in Race No.144 – The HDIL Indian Oaks (Gr.1) run on 20th January, 2008 which read as under :-

 

“…..It is hereby confirmed that the sample, which has been analysed as set out above, contains TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE and metabolite HYDROXY TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE”

 

A copy of the above report was handed over to Trainer Bezan Chenoy and he was asked to continue his own enquiries and to lead evidence, if any, to prove mitigating circumstances, within 15 days and to also attend the enquiry to be held by the Stipendiary Stewards and the Sr.Veterinary Officer of the Club, as and when he would be required to.

Further, as per the Medication Rules,  the Stewards of the Club decided to disqualify YANA (Winner) in Race No.144 – The HDIL Indian Oaks (Gr.1) run on 20th January, 2008 and to revise the order of placing of the above race as under :-
