RACE DAY REPORTS

 

FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED 7 METRES WIDE FROM 1400 METRES (MILE CHUTE) TO 1200 METRES AND THEREAFTER 9 METRES WIDE UPTO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES RUN AT THE BACKSTRETCH FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED FROM 1400 METRES, LEADING TO 3 METRES WIDE AT 1200 METRES, 6 METRES WIDE AT 1100 METRES AND 9 METRES WIDE AT 1000 METRES. THE STARTING GATES WERE POSITIONED AT THE MARKER FOR THE START OF EACH RACE AS MEASURED BY A ROADOMETER.

RACE NO 1. (256) THE QUEENSCLIFF PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres.   RUNNERS – 7

 

The Clerk of the Scales reported that App Akash Agarwal (SHAKTIMAN) had weighed-in 2 kg over. On questioning the Apprentice stated that he had changed his riding boots and also had Glucose water after having weighed-out. The matter was reported to the Stewards.

The Stewards interviewed Apprentice Akash Agarwal and having heard him, they were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him and held him guilty of carelessness in weighing-in 2 kgs. over on SHAKTIMAN. The Stewards also noted that his Apprentice Jockey’s license already stood suspended up to and inclusive of 20th April 2008 for an earlier offence. Therefore, the Stewards decided that, for the present offence of weighing-in 2 kgs. over on SHAKTIMAN, his Apprentice Jockey’s license shall stand suspended w.e.f.. 21st  April 2008 to 27th April 2008 (both days inclusive). (Permitted to ride work/ Mock race). Further, he was severely cautioned for the future.

 

After the race, THE BOSS was observed to have an abrasion on the right hind pastern.

 

RACE NO 2. (257) THE EVERY TIME PLATE:  (About) 1200 Metres.   RUNNERS – 8

 

BONNY LIGHT (Samuel Fargeat) and RADIATING (Y.S.Srinath) were inclined to lug-in in the straight. Trainers Faisal A. Abbas and Magansingh P.Jodha have been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race their respective charge.

 

RACE NO 3. (258) THE STAR CONTENDER PLATE:  (About) 1000 Metres.   RUNNERS – 8

 

YOUREMYLUV (P.S.Chouhan) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Sangramsinh N. Joshi has been asked to give the gelding more Gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.  SPICA  (App.A.M.Tograllu) jumped out slowly, losing about 2 lengths at the start.

 

Soon after the start, BEYOND THERAPY (Riyaz Shaikh) shifted in and forced MING (Dashrath Singh) to shift-in, who himself was inclined to lug in and in turn caused interference to YOUREMYLOV (P.S.Chouhan). Jockey Riyaz Shaikh has been fined Rs.3000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

Soon thereafter, REALLY ROMANTIC (App.Kishore Kadam) shifted in and forced MING (Dashrath Singh) to shift in and  carried RED DAWN (Neeraj Rawal) inwards, placing the latter awkwardly behind the heels of MAJOR ROBERTS  (Samuel Fargeat) causing the gelding to be checked by its rider.  App. Kishore Kadam has been fined Rs.3000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

MING (Dashrath Singh) was observed to have lugged in during the race. Trainer Sanjay Kolse has been asked to take remedial measures and to show the colt in a Mock Race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards before next accepting to race. 

           

RACE NO 4. (259) THE P.R. MEHTA TROPHY:  (About) 2000  Metres.   RUNNERS – 5

 

EARL OF WARWICK (M.Narredu) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Vinayak has been asked to give the gelding more Gate practice and to show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Near 1800 meters, DIPLOMATIC LICENSE (App.A.M.Tograllu) was checked when the Jockey tried to take an insufficient gap on the inside of EARL OF WARWICK.

 

DA VINCI (Y.S.Srinath) shifted in at about 1100m and caused Jockey M.Narredu (EARL OF WARWICK) to check his mount. Jockey Y.S.Srinath has been fined Rs.3,000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

App D.K. Ashish (ADRENALINE RUSH) reported that his mount lugged out throughout the race. Tr.S.K.Sunderji has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of FLASHING FLAME (Nadeem Alam) and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

RACE NO 5. (260) THE THUMBELINA PLATE: (About)  1400 Metres.   RUNNERS – 13

 

After being stalled,  SHODAAN (Riyaz Shaikh) played up in the Gates. On examination, the gelding was found fit to race and was allowed to race. NAME FOR FAME (T.S.Jodha) was fractious and reluctant to be stalled. Trainers Altaf Hussain and Karthik G have been asked to give their respective charges more gate practice and to show them in a Mock race to the satisfaction of the Starter, before next accepting to race. 

BLADE RUNNER (Y.S.Srinath) and ASCRIPTIVE  (Neeraj Rawal) were slow in the stride, losing about 2 lengths each, at the start.

 

Trainer Altamash Ahmed informed that Jockey J.H. Christopher had missed his flight as such change of Jockey was permitted in this race. Jockey J.H. Christopher has been fined Rs. 5000/- for failing to fulfill his riding engagement.

   

ASCRIPTIVE (Neeraj Rawal) was inclined to lug out in the straight. Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Jockey Sunny Chinoy (INDIAN SUMMER) reported that his mount was inclined to lug in during the race. Trainer Narendra Lagad has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

After the race, WHITE HART LANE was observed to have an abrasion on the left fore cannon.

 

RACE NO 6. (261 THE K.H. IRANI PLATE:  (About) 1400  Metres.   RUNNERS – 10

 

While negotiating the bend, SPIRITUALL ( M. Narredu) shifted out and forced GOLD BISCUIT (S.Shinde) to shift out, who took the running of GOLDEN KEY (App.A.M.Tograllu) who shifted out and in turn hampered the running of ARABIAN POWER (R.Shelar). Jockey M. Narredu has been fined Rs.3000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

Soon on straightening, SPIRITUALL ( M Narredu) shifted in and caused interference to ETERNAL FLIGHT (S.S. Rathore) and then went on to KAI (Y.S. Srinath) who was checked. Jockey M.Narredu has been fined Rs.3000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.  

 

On questioning after the race, Jockey M Narredu (SPIRITUALL) stated that his mount was blind in left eye and therefore was running keen and erratic. As such, Trainer P Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures and show the gelding in a Mock race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards before next accepting to race.

KAI (Y.S.Srinath) was inclined to lug out in the straight. Trainer Rehanullah Khan has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

After the race GOLD BISCUIT was observed to have an abrasion on the left hind fetlock. Also, the gelding had splayed the right fore plate and had a wolf tooth on the left side.

 

RACE NO 7. (262) THE V.R. MENON PLATE: (ABOUT) 2000 METRES – RUNNERS – 6

 

On  arrival at the Gates, CHANDELIER (Sunny Chinoy) was examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. and found to be sore by the right fore leg. As such, the gelding was certified unfit to race and hence was withdrawn on veterinary grounds, before coming under the Starter’s Orders. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, NARA was observed to have an abrasion on the right hock and a bleeding gum injury and HOUSE PREFECT had a wolf tooth on the right side.

The urine sample of winner of 1st and 3rd viz. COCAINE and MAJOR ROBERTS were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : CONFIRMATORY REPORT IN RESPECT OF   “PREDOMINANT” (RANDOM SAMPLE) :

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Thursday, 20th March,   2008 considered :-

 

i)          A fax letter dated 17th March, 2008 from LCH, France, forwarding therein the  Certificate of Analysis of the confirmatory sample in respect of the random sample of urine taken from your charge PREDOMINANT,  which read as under :-

“It is hereby confirmed that the sample, which has been analysed as set out above, contains TESTOSTERONE at a concentration of 9,4 microgram/ml.”

 

ii)          A fax letter dated 19th March, 2008 from LCH, France, forwarding therein the corrected Certificate of Analysis of the confirmatory sample in respect of the random sample of urine taken from your charge PREDOMINANT and informing that the previous certificate concerning this sample is invalid. The corrected Certificate of Analysis, read as under :-

“It is hereby confirmed that the sample, which has been analysed as set out above, contains TESTOSTERONE at a concentration of 9,4 nanogram/ml.”

 

Since the concentration level of TESTOSTERONE detected by LCH, France, was below the threshold level, the Stewards decided to treat the random sample of urine taken from PREDOMINANT as negative.
