MUMBAI MEETING 2007/2008, SPECIAL RACE DAY, THURSDAY, 13TH MARCH, 2008.

RACE DAY REPORTS

 

FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED 9 METRES WIDE FROM 1600 METRES (MILE CHUTE) TO 1200 METRES, 11 METRES WIDE AT 1000 METRES AND THEREAFTER 12 METRES WIDE UP TO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES RUN AT THE BACK STRETCH FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED FROM 1400 METRES LEADING TO 5 METRES WIDE AT 1200 METRES, 8 METRES WIDE AT 1100 METRES AND 11 METRES WIDE AT 1000 METRES. THE STARTING GATES WERE POSITIONED AT THE MARKER FOR THE START OF EACH RACE AS MEASURED BY THE ROADOMETER.

 

RACE NO 1. (241) THE ROYAL DEEDS PLATE:  (About) 1600 Metres.   Runners- 7

 

PREMIER DIVA (App.Kishore Kadam) has been cautioned for allowing his mount to shift out in the final stages of the race. 

 

App Kishore Kadam was observed to have not ridden his mount PREMIER DIVA in rhythm with the stride and unbalanced the filly in the final stages of the race thereby placing her at a disadvantage. The Apprentice has used his whip with the right hand thereby losing further ground in the straight. The matter was deferred to the next meeting.

 

After the race, CZECH was observed to have an abrasion on the left hind pastern.

 

RACE NO 2. (242) THE RADHA SIGTIA TROPHY:  (About) 2400  Metres.  Runners- 5

 

MASEEHA (App.A.M.Tograllu) took a fly jump.

 

Soon after the start, NITROUS (Y.S.Srinath, dr.2) shifted in and tightened FANTASTIC FURY (P.S. Chouhan, dr.1) and took its running, as a result FANTASTIC FURY received severe interference which could have led to an accident. As such, Jockey Y.S. Srinath was reported to the Stewards for Careless riding. Consideration of the mater was deferred to the next Meeting of the Stewards. 

 

In the final furlong, MASEEHA (App A.M.Tograllu) shifted in and took the running of MILES AND MORE (C Rajendra) as a result MILES AND MORE was ridden in check for a fair bit of ground. App A.M.Tograllu has been fined Rs.3,000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of MILES AND MORE (C.Rajendra) in this race and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

RACE NO 3. (243) THE SECRET TREASURE PLATE:  (About) 1600 Metres.  Runners- 7

 

As the start was effected, EXPENSIVE AFFAIR (J.Chinoy) was leaning on the back gate towards the right and the rider had taken one of his foot out of the stirrup, as such, the filly jumped out and dislodged the rider soon after the start. Since the incident was accidental, no action has been initiated.

 

RACE NO 4. (244) THE WAVE OF BLISS PLATE:  (About) 1200 Metres.     Runners - 13

 

Jockey S.P.Ranjane (SURMOUNT) reported that his mount was inclined to lug in during the race.  Tr.H.J.Antia has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

 

Trainer H.J.Antia and Jockey F.Irani were questioned regarding the running and riding of LIGHTNING BOLT in this race. After viewing the race, Trainer H.J.Antia stated that the jockey has done his best and he took no exception to the Jockey’s riding. He said that he had instructed Jockey F.Irani to be in 4th/5th position as per the owner’s request and to do his best whereas Jockey F.Irani, when asked about his instructions,  stated that he was instructed to be in 5th or 6th position and to do his best. The owner, Mr.Ismail M.H.Peshimam,  when asked stated that he wanted to see how the horse runs from the back because whenever this horse went to the front, he got tired in the final stages. When asked about the pattern of the running of this horse in the future, the owner stated that the same instructions would be given in future i.e. to be in the mid bunch.

 

Trainer H.J.Antia was warned that if he wishes to change the running tactics of any of his charges in the future, he should inform the Stipendiary Stewards prior to the race since this horse has run in a forward position in the past and placed second. Further, he has been informed that the Stipendiary Stewards will be keeping a watch in the future running style of LIGHTNING BOLT.

 

After the race CLEAN SWEEP was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of 4 weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

On examination after the race, KALPAVRUKSHA was found to have wolf tooth on both the sides of its mouth.

 

RACE NO 5. (245) THE JIMMY BHARUCHA TROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres.  Runners- 12

 

EXISTENZ (Nirmal Jodha) reared up as the start was effected, losing a distance at the start. AMERICAN IDOL (Zameer Sayyed) was slowly out, losing about 3 lengths at the start. Trainers S.K.Sunderji and D.J.Surti have been asked to give their respective charge more gate practice and to show them to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

 

Soon after the start, AMERICAN IDOL (Zameer Sayyed, dr.10) was tightened for room.

 

FLEET OF FLAMES (C.Rajendra, dr.12) lugged in throughout the race, in that, soon after the start the filly lugged in and went across CRAKATOA (Aadesh Kumar). The filly continued to lug in and made contact with IMPRESSIVE WISH (P.S.Chouhan) near the 800 metres and approaching 400 meters, FEET OF FLAMES (C Rajendra) again shifted in due to which IMPRESSIVE WISH (P.S. Chouhan) was inconvenienced.. Further, in the final stages of the race the filly shifted in from five horses wide on to the inner rails despite the Jockey using the whip in the right hand. Trainer P.Shroff has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the filly.

 

Approaching 200 meters, CAMEO (Neeraj Rawal) shifted out and took the running of IKARIA (M Narredu) who was checked and lost position.  Jockey Neeraj Rawal has been fined Rs.3000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.  

 

Jockey Y.S.Srinath (THUNDERING HOOVES) has been cautioned for keeping an erratic course in the final furlong.

On examination after the race, THUNDERING HOOVES was found to have wolf tooth on both the sides of its mouth.

 

After the race, AMERICAN IDOL was observed to have a bleeding injury on the left fore cannon.

 

RACE NO 6. (246) THE STAR SHINE PLATE:  (About) 1400 Metres.  Runners - 12

 

STAR LEGEND (Aadesh Kumar) was hampered for a clear run in the final stages of the race when SURAJ (Riyaz Shaikh) shifted in. Jockey Riyaz Shaikh has been reprimanded for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

Jockey Riyaz Shaikh (SURAJ) reported loss of his whip 200 metres from the winning post.  The Stipendiary Stewards will enquire into the incident and submit a report shortly.

 

After the race, SEILLANS was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated ban period of 4 weeks. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, PONYTA was observed to have an injury on the right hind coronet.

 

An enquiry has been initiated into the running and riding of CHARDIN and a report will be submitted shortly.

 

RACE NO 7. (247) THE SIMPLY GORGEOUS PLATE:  (About) 1200 Metres.     Runners- 10

 

Jockey Aadesh Kumar (ARTILLERY) has been fined Rs.1000/-  for weighing out late which resulted in the horse being brought late into the Parade Ring. The horse was brought into the Parade Ring when all the other horses had left the Parade Ring.

 

PRINCESS SAMERAH (I.Shaikh) was reluctant to be stalled. Trainer Jayantilal K.Gor has been asked to give the filly more gate practice before next accepting to race.

NORTHERN PRINCE (Zameer Sayyed) jumped out slowly, losing about a distance at the start. Trainer D.J.Surti has been asked to give the horse more gate practice and to show him to the satisfaction of the Starter in a Mock Race before next accepting to race.

 

Approaching 900 metres, HYMN STAR (App.A.M.Tograllu) shifted in and went on to ARTILLERY (Aadesh Kumar) who in turn shifted on to JUST BLESSINGS (S.S.Rathore) causing him a check. As a result of this, PRINCESS SAMERAH (I.Shaikh) who was racing directly behind JUST BLESSINGS, had to be checked. App.A.M.Tograllu has been fined Rs.3,000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

On examination after the race, HYMN STAR was found to have a wolf tooth on the left side.

 

The urine sample of winner of 1st & 3rd race, viz. TEHRANI & COMBUSTION and the special sample of PREMIER DIVA (1st race), CLEAN SWEEP & KALPAVRUKSHA (4th race), THUNDERING HOOVES (5th race), STAR LEGEND & SEILLANS (6th race) and HYMN STAR (7th race) were collected for detection of prohibited substance.

RE : MERCY PETITION FROM JOCKEY MALCOLM KHARADI IN RESPECT OF SUSPENSION OF HIS JOCKEY’S LICENSE W.E.F. 7TH MARCH, 2008 TO 16TH MARCH, 2008 FOR CARELESS RIDING ON HIS MOUNT “COVENANT” IN RACE NO.206 – THE K.M.MUNSHI TROPHY RUN ON 21ST FEBRUARY, 2008:

 

The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on Thursday, 13th March, 2008 considered Mercy Petition dated 10th March, 2008 from Jockey Malcolm Kharadi in the above connection and having deliberated in the matter, decided to reject the same.
