PUNE MEETING 2005, SPECIAL RACE DAY, FRIDAY, 30TH SEPTEMBER, 2005.

RACE DAY REPORTS

(PENETROMETER: 1.9, TRACK: MONSOON; GOING: GOOD)

(FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED 8 METERS WIDE FROM 1200 METERS CHUTE TILL 1000 METERS. (THE STARTING GATES WERE POSITIONED AT THE MARKER FOR THE START OF EACH RACE AS MEASURED BY A ROADOMETER). FOR RACES RUN OVER 1200 METERS, STARTING GATES WERE PLACED AT ABOUT 1170 METERS.

RACE NO 133. THE GUIDING STAR PLATE: (About) 1600 Metres.- 9 Runners

FULUS (Nirmal Jodha) was fractious and reluctant to be stalled. FULUS (Nirmal Jodha) and RASSASA (K Deepesh) were slowly out, losing about 4 lengths each, at the Start. Considering the behaviour of FULUS in this race and a repetition of RASSASA’s behaviour, Trainers Zadmal Singh and S.S.Shah have been asked to take remedial measures and show their respective charge to the satisfaction of the Starter in a mock race, before next accepting to race.

Trainer Janardhan and Jockey SS Baria were questioned regarding the running and riding of TARAS BULBA. The Jockey was instructed to be in 3^rd/ 4^th position and to do his best in the straight. The Trainer stated and the Jockey concurred that the horse had stumbled at the Start and could not keep pace with the other horses. The Jockey added that he was told not to push his mount up the slope, therefore he sat and thereafter did his best. The Trainer opined that the horse needs more distance to perform better. The explanation was noted for future reference.

The Sr.V.O. reported that TARAS BULBA was examined after the race and found to be sound. The gelding had a wolf tooth on the left side.

RACE NO 134. - THE VIGILANTE PLATE : (About) 1000 Metres . 6 Runners

The Sr.V.O. reported that at the request of Trainer Altaf Hussain, DON’TSPENDITALL was examined on 29^th September, 2005 at 7.30 a.m. and found to go short by the right hind leg. As such, Tr.Altaf Hussain was permitted not to declare the mare in this race, on veterinary grounds. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s Veterinary Officer before next accepting to race.

AL NAJDAIN (Amyn Merchant) was reluctant to reach the Start; also the gelding arrived with a broken head-gear. The same was replaced with the Club’s gear. Tr.Sangramsinh N.Joshi has been asked to give the gelding gate approach practice before accepting with him to race.

NATURAL VISION (Nirmal Jodha) reared up and fell in the stall and while trying to get up, rolled into the adjacent stall of ROYAL MARCH (P Sandeep). During this, both NATURAL VISION and ROYAL MARCH kicked each other and sustained bleeding injury. As such, both the horses were certified unfit to race and were withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order. Tr.S.K.Sunderji has been asked to give his charge NATURAL VISION more Gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

RACE NO 135 - THE MASTER OFTHE ROLLS PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres. 10 Runners

At the time of Weighing-out, Jockey AJ Nilesh (PHILOSOPHER) was found to be 2 kg overweight. Trainer Sangramsinh Joshi stated that the Jockey had confirmed to ride at 48 kg. Jockey AJ Nilesh confirmed this. Jockey AJ Nilesh has been fined Rs.2000/- for his carelessness in not informing to the Trainer, the correct weight at which he would ride. Since there was no other Jockey to make the weight, the Jockey was not replaced.

Jockey Zameer Sayyed (BOREAL) has been fined Rs.5000/- for taking the responsibility of the Trainer on himself in seeking for permission for BOREAL to be led to the start riderless when the Trainer himself had not made any written or oral request for such permission and for disobeying the instructions of the Sr.Stipendiary Steward, in that, he was specifically instructed to make sure that the filly is paraded two rounds in the paddock without a rider, before she was led out of the paddock. Inspite of this, he chose to disregard the instructions of the Sr.Stipendiary Steward and instructed the Syce to walk the filly the wrong way and take her out of the paddock.

PHILOSOPHER (AJ Nilesh) reached the Start at 2.38 p.m.

REAP THE BOUNTY splayed it’s left fore plate in the Saddling Enclosure. The gelding was reshod and examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. and found to be sound, as such allowed to proceed to the Starting Gate. However, on arrival at the Starting Gates, the gelding was found to have again splayed the same plate and did not allow to remove the other plate. As recommended by the Sr.V.O. REAP THE BOUNTY was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order.

After being stalled, DAZZLING RAY (Sunny Chinoy) cast his left hind on to the side platform which broke under pressure. DAZZLING RAY was examined by the Club’s V.O. and found to be sore by the left hind leg. As recommended by the Sr.V.O. the gelding was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order. DAZZLING RAY has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

LADY HAMILTON (R.Rupesh) was slow in her stride losing about 8 lengths at the start. Tr.Nina M.Lalvani has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to the satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials, before next accepting to race.

Trainer Asad Siddiqui has been fined Rs.1000/- for not informing regarding the use of Pacifiers on his charge THE BOSS. The horse raced with the Pacifiers.

Near 200 meters, ISIS (Y.S Faizan) shifted in and hampered the running of EXULT (S Bhadke). Jockey Y.S Faizan has been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

PHILOSOPHER (AJ Nilesh) hung out in the straight. Trainer Sangramsinh Joshi has been advised to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

RACE NO 136 - THE BLAZING FAITH PLATE: (About) 1200 Metres . 13 Runners

LAPWING (Nirmal Jodha, dr.6) jumped out awkwardly towards the outside and at the same time, MIND THE GAP (L Prashant, dr.7) jumped out awkwardly towards the inside and bumped each other. Both Jockeys have been advised to be more careful in the Gates.

Thereafter, CASTLE CREEK (P.S Chouhan, dr.9) shifted in and crowded the field on his inside forcing SUMMER WIND (C Chowgule, dr.8), MIND THE GAP (L Prashant, dr.7), LAPWING(Nirmal Jodha, dr.6) to shift in and at the same time, BORN DESTINY (P Kamlesh, dr4) shifted out on to DONEGAL BAY (Ikram Khan, dr.5). Jockeys P.S Chouhan and P Kamlesh have been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over their respective mount.

Near 200 meters, FLAMES OF FIRE (S.P Ranjane) shifted in and hampered the running of SUMMER WIND (C. Chowgule). Jockey S.P Ranjane has been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

Trainer Altamash Ahmed has been fined Rs.500/- for running his charge FREEDOM’S CHOICE (Amyn Merchant) in colours other than those registered. The rider weighed out with Emergency Colours “All Black”.

Jockey Ikram Khan (DONEGAL BAY) and Jockey SK Jadhav (LETSGETLOUD) reported that due to the kickback, they could not do justice to their respective mount.

After the race, AMADOMIO was observed to have an abrasion on the right hind fetlock.

The Stipendiary Stewards will be looking into the poor performance of AMADOMIO (Anil Baandal) and comparative performance of FREEDOM’S CHOICE (Amyn Merchant) and submit their report later.

RACE NO 137 - THE FOURTH ESTATE TROPHY: (About) 1400 Metres . 5 Runners

STAR MAGIC (P.Belose) arrived at the Starting Gate with profuse bleeding from the mouth. The gelding was examined by the Club’s V.O. and found to have a cut injury on ventral tongue on the left side, as such was certified unfit to race and was withdrawn before coming under the Starter’s Order.

RACE NO 138 - THE PRINCE OF RAMGARH TROPHY: (About) 2400 Metres . 4 Runners

Trainer DJ Surti has been fined Rs.3000/- for submitting the Declaration Form late in respect of MAID OF MONEY wherein he approached the Racing Department after 8.30 a.m. but before 9.00 a.m.

Trainer DJ Surti has been fined Rs.1000/- for not informing regarding the use of Pacifiers on his charge MAID OF MONEY. The horse raced with the Pacifiers.

RACE NO 139 -THE CLASSIC STORY TROPHY: (About) 1200 Metres – 10 Runners

SECRET SORTIE (Anil Baandal) was reluctant to reach the start. Tr.Narendra Lagad has been asked to give the filly gate approach practice before accepting with her to race.

Trainer DJ Surti has been fined Rs.3000/- for submitting the Declaration Form late in respect of CONSTANTIA wherein he approached the Racing Department after 8.30 a.m. but before 9.00 a.m.

Jockey I Shaikh (HIGH FIVE) reported the loss of his whip near 400 meters.

Samples of urine of the winners of the 2^nd, 4^th and 5^th races, viz. TEARAWAY, FREEDOM’S CHOICE and ROMANTIC HERO respectively, as also that of GLORIOUS FANTASY (1^st race), were sent for analysis.
