RACE NO 27- ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “SOVEREIGN POWER” – IN THE LAND OF GLORY PLATE (DIV – I) RUN ON 15-08-2005 – TRAINED BY ALTAF HUSSAIN AND RIDDEN BY JOCKEY L PRASHANT

Trainer Altaf Hussain stated that he had instructed Jockey L Prashant to take a good position after the Start and to do his best. The Jockey confirmed the instructions. It was put to the Jockey that after the start, he made no attempt to take a good position and was content to be where he was. He showed no urgency to gain good position throughout the race. The Jockey had no answers to any answer.

Jockey L Prashant has been severely reprimanded for not obtaining the best possible place in the race. He has been informed that he must improve his riding skills before next accepting to ride.

RACE NO 24 – ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “SO PERFECT” IN THE CHIEF OF KAGAL TROPHY – RUN ON 14TH AUGUST 2005 – TRAINED BY P. SHROFF AND RIDDEN BY JOCKEY C. RUZAAN

The instructions were to get a good position, and he was informed that horses that were going to the front won races. The Jockey stated that after the start he had made efforts to get a good position but the horse did not seem to have initial speed and then horses on his outside covered him, he had no choice but to stay where he was. After viewing the race from all angles, and keeping in mind the underfoot conditions, the explanation was accepted and no action was initiated against the Jockey.

RACE NO 32 – THE NANDA DEEP TROPHY – RUN ON 15TH AUGUST 2005 – “CONFIDENT” – ANIL BAANDAL TRAINER NARENDRA LAGAD.

Trainer Narendra Lagad stated that the Jockey was instructed to go to the front or sit in the second position. The Trainer further explained that the horse stumbled at the start and the horse lost position. There was kickback from the horse in front and probably the horse did not like that. He added that the Jockey had persevered with the mount and he can not find fault with the Jockey’s riding. He opined that the horse could have won the race if he had not stumbled.

It was put to the Jockey that even after the stumble, he should have made more efforts to get into a good position and should not have let the front horses to take such a big lead.

Not being entirely satisfied with the Jockey’s explanation, he has been given benefit of a grave doubt keeping in mind that the horse did stumble at the Start and there was a lot of kickback. Further, the Jockey has been cautioned for the future.

RACE NO. 26 - ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF GANADOR IN THE SIMPLY SUPERB PLATE – DIV I - RUN ON 14TH AUGUST, 2005

Trainer Rehanullah Khan and Jockey Ikram Khan were questioned regarding the running and riding of GANADOR. It was put to them that after a good jump out the Jockey had made no effort to go to the front and that he had kept an erratic course from the 600 mts.

The instructions for the Jockey were to sit in 4th, 5th position. The Jockey stated that since he was instructed to be off-the-pace, he did not hit the front and thereafter he has done his best. The Jockey stated that he had positioned the horse as instructed and while negotiating the bend the horse was inclined to drift out and he managed to control his mount. He further stated that he could’nt have made his move from the outside since he was racing, almost, on the edge of the Monsoon Track. When he saw an opening on his inside, he made his move and thereafter he had done his best. The explanation was accepted.
