RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RIDING OF JOCKEY A. R. MANI (WOLVERINE) IN RACE NO 198, RUN ON 20/02/2005

Jockey AR Mani was observed to have ridden feebly in the straight astride WOLVERINE. Trainer Anil Kumar had expressed his dissatisfaction towards the riding of the Jockey. Though the Jockey maintained that he had done his best. The Jockey reported sick after riding in this race and did not fulfill his riding engagements for the remaining races. This made us suspicious and we felt that Jockey AR Mani was not fit to ride in the race in question and he had failed to do justice to his mount. He was sent Show Cause notice and sought his explanation by 24th February 2005, which he failed to do.

On questioning, the Jockey stated that he had been unwell for the past couple of weeks preceding the Race Day. On 20th February 2005, being Sunday, he had not ridden the Morning Track work and after riding in the first race of the day astride WOLVERINE he felt very weak and hence he reported sick.

After considering his explanation, Jockey A.R. Mani was fined Rs.5000 for not persevering with his mount and riding in an unfit condition. Further, he was fined Rs.1000 for not replying to the Show Cause notice.
