PUNE MEETING 2005, SPECIAL RACE DAY, SATURDAY, 6TH AUGUST 2005

 

RACE DAY REPORTS

 

(TRACK: MONSOON – GOING: GOOD TO YIELDING)

PENETROMETER READING: (4.3 Old) (1.8 New)

(NO FALSE RAILS - THE STARTING GATES WERE POSITIONED AT THE MARKER FOR THE START OF EACH RACE AS MEASURED BY A ROADOMETER)(THE STARTING GATE FOR THE RACES TO BE HELD AT 1200 METERS WAS PLACED AT 1170 MTRS.) 

 

On a request, Trainer Zadmal Singh was granted permission, for his Assistant, Mr. Niranjan Singh, to saddle his charges, FULUS and VITTORIOSA in the 1st & 2nd race respectively, at his own (Trainer Zadmal Singh’s) risk and responsibility. 

 

 

RACE NO 1: THE FIREFLY PLATE (About) 1200 Meters - Runners:16)

 

Jockeys K. Deepesh (FALAKNUMA) and Vikram Walker (UNDERSTANDING) have been severely reprimanded for traveling wide and racing on the Main Track throughout the straight, thereby giving their horses a disadvantage in the race. Keeping the underfoot condition in mind no action was taken against the Jockeys.

 

Jockey B Kushal (MARANELLO) weighed out with 1 kg overweight, whereas he should have claimed his entitled 5 kg allowance. The Stipendiary Stewards would be enquiring into the incident and will submit their report later.

 

 

RACE NO 2: THE EVERYNSKY TROPHY – DIV II (About) 1200 Meters - Runners: 13)

 

SUPREME ACT (B. Prakash, dr.5) after being stalled, ducked under the front gates thereby displacing the saddle completely. The gelding was withdrawn before coming under Starters’ Order. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been advised to give the gelding more gate practice before accepting him to race.

 

Soon after that start, TRUE WISDOM (C. Rajendra, dr.10) was observed to shift in gradually and went across the field. Since there was no interference caused, no action was initiated against Jockey C. Rajendra beyond advising him to be more careful and not to change course in the initial stages of the race.

 

MAYBACH (Samuel Fargeat) was observed to be hanging-out while negotiating the final bend inspite of the Jockey’s best efforts. Since this was filly’s first run no action was initiated.

 

Jockey R. Biramne (GOLDEN FLOWERS) was observed to be feeble throughout the race, as such the Jockey has been severely cautioned for failing to persevere with his mount and warned for the future.

 

 

RACE NO 3: THE EVERYNSKY TROPHY – DIV I (About) 1200 Meters- Runners: 14)

 

Tr. Nina M. Lalvani has been fined Rs.500/- for bringing her charge, TWILIGHT CHARM, in the paddock with a Tongue Strap, an equipment for which prior permission was not sought for its use. The horse raced without the Tongue Strap.

 

It was observed, that after reaching the Starting post, INTRINSIC VALUE (M. Narredu) had splayed her left fore shoe. However, on Veterinary examination the filly was found to be trotting lame, as such the filly was withdrawn before coming under starters orders. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club V.O. before next accepting to race.

 

After the race, Jockey B. Prakash (SIX STARS) reported that his horse did not raise a gallop at the Start and lost considerable ground and was practically out of the race. The filly could never regain lost grounds in the race, considering the underfoot condition, his explanation was noted for future reference.

 

SAANGRE AZUL (C. Ruzaan) was observed to be hanging out throughout the straight. Since this was the first outing of the filly, no action was initiated.

 

RACE NO 4: THE NATURAL CRAZE PLATE – DIV I (About 1400 Meters - Runners: 9)

 

Jockey Anil Baandal (SPHINX) reported that he lost his whip near the 300 metres.

 

 

RACE NO 5: THE NATURAL CRAZE PLATE – DIV II (About 1400 Meters - Runners: 9)

 

Jockey M. Narredu (UNSUNG HERO) reported that his mount was inclined to hang out while negotiating the final bend. Trainer Altaf Hussain has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting with the filly to race.

 

Jockey Manohar Singh (TRAINERSHIP) was observed to be feeble during the race, but considering the underfoot conditions, the Jockey was given benefit of doubt and no action was initiated against him.

 

 

RACE NO 6: THE P. HADOW TROPHY (About 1000 Meters – Runners: 10)

 

Jockey I. Shaikh (BIG BLAZE) has been fined Rs.500/- for weighing out late, which resulted in the horse being brought late into the paddock and when all the other runners had left for the start.

 

MAKRAMAH (P.S. Chouhan, dr.10) after being stalled played up and sat down in the stall and got awkwardly cast himself underneath the rear gates, in the process, the saddle got displaced and damaged. As such the gelding was withdrawn before coming under Starters order.

 

Approaching 800 mts. ONE WAY (P. Belose) shifted in and forced FLAG BEARER (Abhishek Habbu) to shift further in and cause interference to METALIQUE (Samuel Fargeat). Jockey P. Belose has been severely reprimanded for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

ONE WAY (P. Belose) was observed to be hanging-in in the final stages of the race. Tr. Magansingh P. Jodha has been advised to take remedial measures before next to race with her.

 

Jockey J. Pradeep (ASIAN EXPRESS) was observed to be feeble during the race, but considering the underfoot conditions, the Jockey was given benefit of doubt and no action was initiated against him.

 

After the race, GIRL FROM ASCOT was found to be sore by right fore leg. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting with her to race.

 

 

RACE NO 7: THE BELLE EPOQUE PLATE (About 1000 Meters – Runners: 17)

 

CARING (B. Kushal) was slow in the stride losing about 2 lengths at the start.

 

Soon after jump out ACTIVISTO (Mansoor Khan, dr.10) shifted out and interfered with INCOMPARABLE (Vikram Jodha, dr.11) and again shifted out and bumped INCOMPARABLE (Vikram Jodha). Jockey Mansoor Khan has been fined Rs.1,000 for failing to exercise proper control over his mount at the start and severely reprimanded for his overall riding.

 

Approaching the 200 mts. marker PATH OF FORTUNE (B. Prakash) shifted out when there was insufficient room and bumped MISTER FIXIT (Y. S. Faizan). Jockey B. Prakash has been fined Rs.3,000/- for forcing his passage when there was insufficient room.

 

In the last 100 metres, AMADOMIO (Anil Baandal) was observed to be shifting in with the Jockey making no effort to correct his mount, thereby allowing his mount to further shift in on to PATH OF FORTUNE (B. Prakash) who in turn went on to VANILLA SKY (Altaf Sayyed). Jockey Anil Baandal has been fined Rs.2,000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

Thereafter, CHARGING RHINO (P. Belose) was observed to have dropped back, after which Jockey P. Belose allowed CHARGING RHINO to shift out and took the running of PRINCEWAY (J. Pradeep) who collided with the former and stumbled. Jockey P. Belose has been fined Rs.2,000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

Jockeys Altaf Sayyed (VANILLA SKY) and Mansoor Khan (ACTIVISTO) were observed to be feeble during the race, but considering the underfoot conditions, benefit of doubt has been given to both the Jockeys and no action was initiated against them.

 

RACE NO 8: THE ERIN WAY PLATE (About 1000 Meters – Runners: 13)

 

FIRE DANCER (S.N. Chavan) was withdrawn on compassionate grounds from the race.

 

 

RACE NO 9: THE TUDOR JET PLATE (About 1000 Meters – Runners: 11) – NO REPORTS

            

 

Samples of urine of the winners of the 2nd, 3rd, 6th and 8th races, viz. TRUE WISDOM, BARBADOS SKIES, ONE WAY and EXCELLENTO respectively, were sent for analysis.

The Stewards at their meeting held on 1st May 2005 interviewed App. L. Prashant along with his master Mr. Altaf Hussain as also Trainer H.J. Antia and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by App. L. Prashant, suspended him w.e.f. 6th August 2005 to 7th August 2005 (both days inclusive), permitted to ride work.

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE COMPARATIVE PERFORMANCE OF ‘MIND THE GAP’ WINNER  IN RACE NO.349 RUN ON 30TH APRIL 2005 AS COMPARED TO RACE NO.326 RUN ON 17TH APRIL 2005 WHERE IT RAN UNPLACED:

 

The Stewards at their meeting held on 10th May 2005 interviewed Trainer D.J. Surti in connection with the above and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him, fined him Rs.10,000/- for contravening the Calendar Notification “Re: Improvement in the performance of a horse in a short span of time.
