RACE DAY REPORTS

(GOING : FIRM – PENETROMETER : 1.8)

FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED 5 MTS. WIDE FROM 1600 MTS. (MILE CHUTE) TO 1200 MTS., 7 MTS. WIDE AT 1000 MTS., 9 MTS. WIDE AT 800 MTS. AND THEREAFTER 10 MTS. WIDE UPTO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES RUN AT THE BACK STRETCH FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED FROM 1700 MTS. LEADING TO 2 MTS. WIDE AT 1600 MTS. 4 MTS. WIDE AT 1400 MTS. 6 MTS. WIDE AT 1200 MTS. AND 7 MTS. WIDE AT 1000 MTS. THE STARTING GATES WERE POSITIONED AT THE MARKER FOR THE START OF EACH RACE AS MEASURED BY A ROADOMETER).

RACE NO.320 - THE BYCULLA CLUB TROPHY (2800 Mts. – Runners 1 ) - No reports.

RACE NO.321 - THE J. D. & PEGGY BANATWALLA TROPHY (1600 Mts. – Runners 5)

Soon after the start, DESERT RALLY (Malcolm Kharadi) tried to hang out. Trainer S.K. Sunderji has been advised to take remedial measures before accepting with the filly to race.

NEBRASKA TORNADO (R. Rupesh) hung-out in the straight. Trainer Dallas Todywalla has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race with him.

RACE NO.322 - THE SURREALISME PLATE - DIV.II (1200 Mts. – Runners 11)

Before being stalled, CRY OF TRUTH (F. Irani – dr.3) was observed to have splayed its left fore plate, as such the filly was withdrawn before coming under Starter’s Orders.

The Sr. V.O. reported that, Trainer D.J. Surti had declared the shoeing on his charge MONEY STREAM as Steel, left fore high heel. On examination it was found to have Steel, both hind bare. As such, Trainer D.J. Surti has been fined Rs.1,000/- for declaring incorrect shoeing thereby contravening the Calendar Notification.

RACE NO.323 - THE KARIBUNI PLATE (1400 Mts. – Runners 12)

At the request of Trainer Robert D’Mellow, RAIN CLOUD was examined by the Club Sr. V.O. at 11.00 a.m. on 16^th April 2005 and found to be go short, having a painful swelling on the left hind fetlock, as such the gelding was certified unfit to race and the gelding was withdrawn from the race on veterinary ground. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O., before next accepting with him to race.

CARRIE (R. Shelar) planted in its stall, taking no practical part in the race. As the gelding had behaved in a similar manner in her earlier start this season, Tr. Ivor Fernandes has been asked to show her to the satisfaction of the Starter in a mock race, before accepting with her to race.

In the final stages of the race RONALDINHO (N. Rawal) shifted out and hampered the running of COLOUR OF JOY (P.S. Chouhan). Jockey N. Rawal has been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

After the race, RUSHING RIVER was observed to have an abrasion on the right hind fetlock.

TARAS BULBA was examined after the race and found to be sound. The filly had a wolf tooth on the left side.

RACE NO.324 - THE SURREALISME PLATE - DIV.I (1200 Mts. – Runners 11)

After being stalled, PURSUIT OF POWER (R. Shelar – dr.7) started lashing kicks onto the rear gates, on examination by the Club’s V.O. it was found that the filly had sustained bleeding injuries on both the stifles and on the right elbow, as such the filly was withdrawn before coming under Starter’s order. Considering this behaviour of the filly, Trainer Ivor Fernandes has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show to her to the satisfaction of the Starter at the morning Starting trails, before accepting with her to race.

Jockey C Rajendra (HUGO BOSS) was observed to have used his whip inn excess of the prescribed limit (9 times). Since the horse was hanging in and the whip was used in excess of the prescribed limit as a corrective measure, no action was initiated against the Jockey.

SEE THE TRUTH (Aadesh Kumar), SILKEN SUNRISE (Malcolm Kharadi) and SUMMIT (Amyn Merchant) hung-out in the straight. Trainers Anil Kumar, S.K. Sunderji and Asad Ali have been advised to take remedial measures before next accepting with them to race.

RACE NO.325 - THE STATE BANK TROPHY (1600 Mts. – Runners 13)

LIONHEART (M.Narredu) hung-in in the straight. Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race with him.

RACE NO.326 - THE APRIL BLOSSOM PLATE (1200 Mts. – Runners 14) – NO REPORTS.

RACE NO.327 - THE SPANISH DANCER PLATE (1000 Mts. – Runners 11)

SWORD OF POWER (P.S. Chouhan) was slow in the stride losing about a length at the start.

Samples of urine of the winners of the 1^st, 3^rd, 4^th, and 7^th races, viz. FIDDLE FADDLE, ENAKSI, RUSHING RIVER, and HARD ROCK respectively, as also that of REIGN OF FIRE (6^th race) were sent for analysis.

RACE NO.315 – THE MAHOGANY PLATE (1400 MTS. – 13 Runners)

HEART OF DANGER (P.S. Chouhan) was tending to lug in despite Jockey’s effort in the initial stages of the race and near 800 mts. shifted in and hampered the running of POWER ZONE (N. Rawal). Trainer Ivor Fernandez has been advised to take remedial measures.

PASSION was examined after the race and found to be sound. The mare had a wolf tooth on the left side.

RE: ENQUIRY INTO THE RUNNING AND RIDING OF “SO PRECIOUS” IN THE NAVAL GLORY PLATE - RACE NO.305 RUN ON 10^TH APRIL 2005 - COMPLAINT RECEIVED FROM TRAINER DALLAS TODYWALLA.

The Stewards interviewed Trainer Dallas Todywalla and Jockey V. Kotwal and after considering their submissions, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey V. Kotwal and resolved to suspend his Jockey’s License from 28^th April 2005 to 1^st May 2005 (both days inclusive) for Incompetent riding on his mount. (Permitted to ride work/ Mock race).
