RACE DAY REPORTS

 

(GOING : FIRM – PENETROMETRE : 1.9)

(FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED 5 MTS.WIDE FROM 1600 MTS. (MILE CHUTE) TO 1000 MTS, 7 MTS.WIDE AT 800 MTS.AND THEREAFTER 8 MTS. WIDE UPTO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES RUN AT THE BACK STRETCH FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED FROM 1700 MTS.LEADING TO 2 MTS.WIDE AT 1600 MTS., 3 MTS. WIDE AT 1400 MTS, 4 MTS. WIDE AT 1200 MTS. AND 5 MTS. AT 1000 MTS. THE STARTING GATES WERE POSITIONED AT THE MARKER FOR THE START OF EACH RACE AS MEASURED BY A ROADOMETER).

 

RACE NO.313 – THE  JOY PALACE PLATE (1000 MTS. – 12 Runners) - No report.

 

RACE NO.314 – THE  SHANDAAR PLATE (1100 MTS. – 10 Runners)

 

At the request of Trainer Rehanullah Khan, FIRE ALARM was examined by the Club’s V.O, at 6.30 p.m. on Thursday, 14th April 2005 and found to be short by right fore leg, as such the mare was certified unfit to race and Trainer Rehanuallah Khan was permitted not to declare the mare on veterinary grounds. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before accepting her to race.

 

MONTANA (Vikram Walkar) shifted in before the red marker and approaching the 1000 mts. went across BELLE CHOSE (App. Neeraj Rawal), who clipped the hind heels of MONTANA and stumbled. Jockey Vikram Walker has been fined Rs.2,000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

After passing 1000 mts. DOMINIQUE (P.S. Chouhan) shifted in and caused interference to BELLE CHOSE (App. Neeraj Rawal). Jockey P.S. Chouhan has been fined Rs.1,000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

 

QUEEN ADLER (C. Rajendra) kept an erratic course in the straight.

 

App. Anil Baandal rider of STORM ALERT, reported that he had accidentally lost his whip near 150 metres. This being the fourth time he had lost his whip during the current Mumbai Meeting, the matter was reported to the Stewards.

 

The Stewards interviewed App. Anil Baandal in the above connection and cautioned him to be more careful in future.

 

After the race, it was observed that, MONTANA was found to be sore by right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club V.O. before accepting him to race.

 

QUEEN ADLER was examined after the race and found to be sound. The filly had a wolf tooth on the left side.

 

RACE NO.315 – THE MAHOGANY PLATE (1400 MTS. – 13 Runners)

 

Due to lack of quorum, consideration of all reports was deferred to 17th April 2005.

 

RACE NO.316 – THE LUCKY PAIR PLATE (1200 MTS. – 14 Runners)

 

DUDLEYS (P. Belose) was slow in the stride losing about 4 lengths at the start, since the gelding had behaved in a similar manner in his earlier starts this season, Trainer Magansingh P. Jodha has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at the morning starting trials, before accepting with him to race.

 

An objection was lodged in this race by Jockey Satish Nayak rider of ROYAL ARISTOCRAT (placed 4th) against EVA (App. Neeraj Rawal) the winner, for coming on to him near the bend on his outside and clipped the horse in front and he nearly fell down, inspite of this, his horse galloped and finished fourth, whereby he lost a certain race.

 

After interviewing the Jockeys concerned and viewing the video recording of the race from various camera angles, the Stewards resolved to over rule the objection.

 

After the race, it was observed that, LONG JOHN was found to be sore by right fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club V.O. before accepting him to race.

 

RACE NO.317 – THE STARFIRE GIRL TROPHY (1200 MTS. – 12 Runners)

 

KINTYRE (V. Kotwal) was slow in the stride losing about 3 lengths at the start, as the gelding had behaved in a similar manner in his earlier start this season, Trainer Faisal A. Abbas has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter at the morning starting trials, before accepting with him to race.

 

PRINCEWAY (App. L. Prashant) was slow in the stride losing about 6 lengths at the start, as the gelding had behaved twice in this manner during the current season. Trainer D.J. Surti has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and show him to the satisfaction of the Starter in a mock race, before accepting with him to race.

 

At the request of Trainer M.K. Jadhav, WIZARD OF OZ was examined by the Club’s V.O, at 7.40 a.m. on Friday, 15th April 2005 and it was found that the gelding had hurt himself during the morning gate practice and was bleeding through both the nostrils, as such the gelding was certified unfit to race and Trainer M.K. Jadhav was permitted not to declare the gelding on veterinary grounds.

 

Approaching 200 mts. ONE WAY (App. Vikram Jodha) stumbled for no apparent reason and after regaining balance shifted out caused a chain reaction in which FREEDOM’S CHOICE (G.Y. Rajesh Babu) MASTER ZAHIR (P. Kamlesh) and PATH OF FORTUNE(R. Rupesh) were forced to shift out. As the incident was accidental no action was initiated against the Jockey. Thereafter App. Vikram Jodha had used the whip with his right hand and continued to use it when the horse was shifting out, as such App. Vikram Jodha has been fined Rs.1,000/- for improper use of whip.

 

After the race, ONE WAY, was found to be have an abrasion on the left stifle and also had a wolf tooth on the left side.

 

RACE NO.318 – THE THANKSGIVING TROPHY (1400 MTS. – 10 Runners)

 

The Clerk of the Scales reported that, Jockey Amyn Merchant rider of ASIATIQUE, had weighed out with a lead piece in his hand and while giving his saddle away to the boy, he retained the lead piece and walked into the Jockeys’ room. The Clerk of the Scales intervened and asked him to hand over the lead piece to his boy, to be put in his saddlebag so that the horse could carry the correct weight. Jockey Amyn Merchant has been reported to the Stewards for his intentions of fraudulent practice in respect of carrying of weights. Consideration of this matter was deferred.

 

Jockey M. Narredu, rider of STAR OF THE SEASON, has been fined Rs.3,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount (10 times).

 

RACE NO.319 – THE J. ROBINSON PLATE (2000 MTS. – Runners 9)

 

Jockey P. Kamlesh has been reported to the Stewards for excessive whipping on his mount GREAT ALLIANCE. The Stewards interviewed Jockey P. Kamlesh and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him, the Stewards decided to suspended his Jockey’s licence w.e.f. 27th April 2005 to 1st May 2005. (both days inclusive) permitted to ride work/mock race.

 

Samples of urine of winners of the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 6th races, viz. REAP THE BOUNTY, HEART OF DANGER, EVA and STAR OF THE SEASON that of QUEEN ADLER (2nd race) were sent for analysis.

RE: RACE NO 282 RUN ON 2ND APRIL, 2005 – JOCKEY VIKRAM WALKAR

 

Jockey Vikram Walkar rider of SUGAR BABE has been fined Rs.3,000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount (11 times).

 

 

RE: APPEAL FROM APP. JOCKEY R.K. MAHESH IN RESPECT SUSPENSION OF HIS APP. JOCKEY LICENCE W.E.F 24-03-2005 UPTO THE END OF MUMBAI MEETING 2004/2005 AND NOT TO GRANT HIM A LICENCE TILL 24/03/2006 – RE: ENQUIRY INTO HIS RIDING ON ‘ARCADIUS’ IN RACE NO.236 RUN ON 10TH MARCH 2005 - THE BOARD OF APPEAL HAD GRANTED A STAY UPTO 9TH APRIL 2005:

 

The Board of Appeal, at their meeting held on 9th April 2005, considered the appeal submitted by App. R.K. Mahesh on the above subject.

 

The Board of Appeal having studied all the documents and papers that were submitted, considered his “Ground of Appeal” along with his spokeswoman and after inspecting the photographs submitted by him and viewing the video tape recordings of Races no.236 taking into consideration his past record, decided to reject his appeal.
