FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED 3 METRES WIDE FROM 1600
METRES (MILE CHUTE) TO 500 METRES, AND THEREAFTER
NO FALSE RAILS UPTO THE WINNING POST. FOR THE RACES RUN AT THE BACK STRETCH
FALSE RAILS WERE PLACED 3 METRES WIDE FROM 1700 METRES TO 1000 METRES. THE
STARTING GATES WERE POSITIONED AT THE MARKER FOR THE START OF EACH RACE AS
MEASURED BY A ROADOMETER.
On an
application from Trainer S. Mangalorkar, permission was granted for Trainer
Ivor Fernandes to saddle his charge BIG BLAZE in the 8th race, at
his (Trainer S Mangalorkar’s) risk and responsibility

RACE NO.305 – THE NAVAL GLORY PLATE (1400 Mtrs. – 12 Runners)
Soon
after the jump out, THE SPECULATOR (S.S. Rathore) veered to the outside and
thereafter stopped galloping and took no practical part in the race. Trainer
Hanut Singh has been asked to give the filly more gate practice and show her to
the satisfaction of the Starter in the morning starting trials, before
accepting her to race.
Approaching
1200 mts. HANDSOME LAD (J. Chinoy) threw his head up and shifted in for no
apparent reason and caused interference to TARAS BULBA (P. Belose). Since the
horse has behaved in a similar manner in his earlier runs, Trainer Dr. Anil
Kumar has been asked to take remedial measures and to show this gelding to the
satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a Mock Race before accepting with
him to race.
After
the race, HANDSOME LAD was observed to have an abrasion on his right elbow
On a complaint received, from Tr. Dallas Todywalla the
Stipendiary Stewards will be looking into the running and riding of Jockey V.
Kotwal (SO PRECIOUS) and will submit their report later.
FASTER
THAN LIGHT was examined after the race and found be sound. The gelding had wolf
tooth on the left side.
RACE NO.306 –THE BEJAN BHARUCHA TROPHY – DIV.II (1000 Mtrs. –
8 Runners)
EXPERT
OPINION (Vikram Walkar), took a slow jump and did not raise an immediate
gallop. Trainer Jayantilal K. Gor has been asked to give the filly gate
approach practice during a mock race and to show her to the satisfaction of the
Starter before accepting her to race.
AEROBIC’S (App. Vikram Jodha – dr.8) shifted in
sharply before the red marker and hampered the running of ALICE WONDER (C.
Rajendra – dr.4) and HIGHLAND PATH (K.P.G. Appu – dr.3). App. Vikram Jodha has
been fined Rs.1,000/- for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.
EXPERT
OPINION (Vikram Walkar) tried to go out as the start was given. This being the
first run of the filly, Trainer Jayantilal K. Gor has only been advised to take
remedial measures and inform the Stipendiary Stewards as what remedial measures
has been taken before next accepting to race.
RACE NO.307 – THE ROYAL CALCUTTA TURF CLUB TROPHY (1200 Mtrs.
– 8 Runners)
The Stipendiary Stewards will be enquiring into the running
and riding of SOUND OF SILENCE (S.S.Rathore) in this race and the report will
be submitted later.
RACE NO.308 – THE BEJAN BHARUCHA TROPHY – DIV.I (1000 Mtrs. –
9 Runners)
Trainer Robert D’Mellow has been fined Rs.500/- for
bringing his charge BHANUJA (P. Sandeep) late into the paddock.
After
being stalled, STUNNING EFFORT (Helleal R. Moses) was very fractious in the
stall, and gelding kept rearing up inspite of a handler holding him. As the
gelding has behaved in a similar manner in his previous runs this season,
Trainer Hanut Singh has been asked to give the gelding more gate practice and
show him to the satisfaction of the Starter in the morning starting trails
before accepting with him to race.
After
the race, it was observed that, STUNNING EFFORT was found to be sore by left
fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O.
After
the race, it was observed that, DON’T LOOK TWICE was found to go short by right
fore leg. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O.
An
objection was lodged by Jockey N. Rawal rider of TEASER placed 3rd,
against Jockey Abhishek Habbu, (SOVIET FIRE) placed 2nd, for coming
in sharply and bumping him in the last 100 metres, , whereby he had to check
his mount, which cost him a certain 2nd place.
After
interviewing the Jockeys concerned and viewing the video recording of the race
from various angles, the Stewards resolved to uphold the objection and the
revised order of placings as under:

SOVIET FIRE - 3rd BHANUJA - 4th
The Stipendiary

(Helleal R. Moses) in this race and a report will be submitted later.
RACE NO.309 – THE GOOL S. POONAWALLA MILLION (GR.3) (1200
Mtrs. – 9 Runners)
Approaching
800 meters, ROMANTIC LIAISON (Amyn Merchant) shifted in and inconvenienced
ZROOM (P. Belose). Jockey Amyn Merchant has been cautioned for not exercising
proper control over his mount.
AGHA (K.P.G.
Appu) hung out in the straight. Trainer Bezan Chenoy has been advised to take
remedial measures before next accepting to race with him.
AGHA
was examined after the race and found be sound. The gelding had wolf tooth on
the left side.
SEA
SPRAY (C. Ruzaan) placed 5th and LAST’N IMPRESSION placed 6th.
RACE NO.310 – THE SATINELLO TROPHY (1600 Mtrs. – 10 Runners)
HUGO
(C. Ruzaan) refused to be stalled inspite of all efforts, as such the gelding
was withdrawn before coming under Starter’s Order. Trainer Imtiaz A. Sait has
been advised to give the gelding more gate practice and to show him to the
satisfaction of the Starter at morning starting trials before accepting with
him to race.
After
the race, NICHOLAS NICKLEBY was examined and found to have a wolf tooth on the
either side of his mouth.
RACE NO.311 – THE INDIAN NAVY TROPHY (2000 Mtrs. – 4 Runners)
STARSCAPE
(C. Rajendra) was slow in the stride losing about 2 lengths at the start.
ARCADIUS (P.
Kamlesh) hung-in in the straight. Trainer C.D. Katrak has been advised to take
remedial measures before next accepting with him to race.
RACE NO.312 – THE CURSETJEE DHUNJISHAW TROPHY (1400 Mtrs. –
13 Runners) – NO REPORTS.
Samples of urine of the winners of the 3rd, 4th,
5th, 7th and 8th races, viz. ROMANTIC HERO, GAME OF POWER, STAR PRINCESS
and GREAT OPINION respectively, and
that of EVATINA and ROMANTICA LIAISON (5th RACE) and that of GOLD STAR (8th
race) were sent for analysis.
